i own a lot of bag, none of them like me at 100%, for a lot of reason:

* warrior covert: cool as backpack but too small to carry all the stuff. look like playing tetris when i have to put in there all my equipment, damn. plus it's very large. stuck in the doors it's a tradition.

* bauer core: classical bag. size it's perfect, damn huge. but it destroy my shoulder while carrying it. plus i destry every door i try to pass over.

* grit HTSE: i love the compartments and how it's stay vertically and in some small room it help dress/undress. but i hate to noisy wheels. and i discovered to hate to carry a wheel bag.

so... back to this bauer pro15........

EDIT: well, i bought 1 year ago. from that moment, i never stopped using it.

here is it my opinion:

* size: im 190cm (or 6,0") and to give a better idea about my stuff, i use L pants, 17" shingguards, 9,5" skate. and yeha, i can put everything inside this bag... with some trick, i can fill up with EVERYTHING (and im the kind of guy who put in the bag too many thing, like double water bottle, food, belt bag, plus another bag for used clothes, towel and bathrobe, and other stuff without end...). just i would like some more space for the next version of this beauty. maybe 10cm (4inch) more, over the lenght. imho could be a good idea. ps: i've bought the biggest of the Pro15 (there s a Medium size and a Large size).

* weight: it quite like any other bag. it's a nothing.

* compartments: 1 for the skate (ive got a 9.5, they fit in without problem with slippers too)(i use skate guard to avoid cut on the bag). the other one it's for the helmet (ive got a helmet+shiled visor bauer concept), on the top with a nice soft mesh. good idea for my visor. the main compartment inside got also a valuable pocket (a bit small to be honest. inside can stay a phone, keys and not much more)(got soft mesh this one too) and a net, to put inside a jersey or fresh clothes. it's not possible to put in too much stuff... but it does its work.

* bag & backpack: only one thing to say... it's AWESOME. that's it. it fit ok while carring it. i can go trough the smallest door without get stuck (or even worst, destroy the door) and walk without destroy my shoulder. my spine can carry it for a lot... i mean, i can park my car where i am forced to and walk without be scared for the pain to drag the bag on. and if its raining. i can use the umbrella in a confortable way, without wash me and the bag itself. and snow it's not a problem anymore. i can walk nimbly. when i use my grit tower i always have to see what my wheels have to dodge...

* price: a bit high imho. it's just a "bag"... BUT i have to say there s quality, like the soft mesh inside the helmet-bag, or the double slider (with lace too) for every zippers.

* score: 8/10. imho bauer could build it a bit bigger on the top, but that's ok by this way too.

* conclusion: if u cant carry a bag with weels or on a shoulder... if a backpack it's always small and too much large... imho this s The Bag.

That IW bag seems priced well. I picked up a Titan carry bag in MN. It seemed tough enough and has survived well as checked baggage.

I have this Bauer bag from ~2010 that's just crap. Don't remember if it was their cheap one at the time or what.

1235_0.jpgInterior pockets tore very quickly after I got it, seemingly just from the bag being heavy, and now the skate pockets are torn (yes it's old but I didn't play from 2011 until this year so it's been used pretty minimally as far as gear goes). I like their new bags but I'm wary based on the quality of this one. I am totally in the market for a new bag, but need something durable as I'm a big guy and my gear is pretty big and heavy. I've also been eyeing the IW bag, I might give it a try.

I'm kicking myself for selling my Mammoth. Best bag on the market, period. (Though you certainly pay for it!)

Was also looking at the sher-wood vintage pro bags, though I really dislike pro style bags. The more pockets the better.

Bauer's bags will improve; Easton always made great bags.  And that product manager is now responsible for Bauer's.

This bag looks very similar to the old Vapor 10 bag, which I thought was Bauer's best bag of all time.

The IW and Bauer bag both look like solid performers...  I have owned like a zillion bags ad for me simpler is best so now I go with a pro style bag like Warrior.  Both my MSH bags are pro style, I have a Warrior (thanks to MSH!!!!) and a custom JRZ we had made up for our team.  Only thing I added for the JRZ was an extra valuables pocket.  Works perfectly.  Most important thing to remember about a bag is this... NO WHEELS!!!!

Howdy,

I don't have the experience lots of you guys do, but I really like the Warrior Pro bag I ended up with after going through a couple cheap used bags.

The only thing I'd change on it would be to change the straight zipper through the middle to a "flap" style top opening.

nice bags but none of them can be carried like a true backpack, as the pro15... those bags can be carried only on one shoulder not as a true backpack .

that's why im so interested for that bauer... look like a traditional bag, no wheels, some compartments in it and can be used as backpack (as backpack look veeeery slim)

If you really want a backpack, I'd recommend this: http://www.gritinc.net/us/hockey/hockeypod.html

It's what I use now for my player gear. It's fantastic, very comfortable, and like the other Grit models it has separate compartments for everything, if you're into that.

1 shoulder strap it's nomore for my taste. i mean, from the rink to the car maybe i can handle but from car to home... that's a different business as i have to travel a lot...

btw look even smaller than mine HTSE and wider on the bottom (so go trough the door will be even worst than now).

There was a link to Kickstart page posted here awhile ago of a hockey bag development. It looked pretty interesting. Backpack strap, lots of compartment - what you're looking for.

Either way, sounds like you're pretty sold on Pro15. Why not just get it? Asking here, you'll likely get the responses 1) Warrior pro bag is awesome, 2) Grit tower is OK, and 3) Bauer bags have durability issue and some variations of it. You want to get Pro15. Sounds like we're not going to change your mind.

i did a quick search and look like i founded it: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/prhockeybags/the-player-bag-and-pond-pack-by-pacific-rink/description (site: pacificrink.com )

really interesting! a bag with compartments for skates, clothes and other plus pockets... and the ability to become backpack. they did a great job...

That's funny, I had the opposite experience. Half of the Easton bags we sold ended up ripping out. The reason they sold so well I don't think had to do anything with how good they were, but rather that they offered good sized and cheap youth bags. Plus when I am at my max with Bauer, CCM doesn't have great offerings for bags and neither did Warrior, AND I had to get my dollars up with Easton, it made sense why a lot of dealers went with Easton bags to stock. I remember the last booking we had with them was literally for 70 youth bags, a dozen stick bags and some regular bags simply so I could add 4 more pairs of Bauer skates into my order. They're definitely an improvement on what they had before the buyout, however, I don't think you'll see similar numbers in terms of sales due to people still wanting to put their Bauer dollars into other products (skates, helmets, sticks, protective, etc etc).

I got the Easton version of this bag on clearance from Hockey Monkey (https://www.hockeymonkey.com/catalog/product/view/id/309587) and really like it. Been using it for 3 or 4 months now without any problems. It has plenty of space for all my gear and I really like the separate compartments for my skates and helmet.

I did the same thing.  I think I paid like 35 or 40 bucks for it.  Killer bag for that price.  I love being able to walk through doors easily with it.  I get ribbed a little for it being a "backpack" bag, but then half the geezers on my team have wheelie bags so...  I'm a big dude too (6'2" 260), but even with virtually all XL sized gear, I can make it fit.  Now, I do stuff my elbows into my shins, into my pants, but it works out fine and make sure I don't forget anything.  I always take my gear out to dry it after every use anyway.  I put my skates in the main compartment and use the end compartment for towels, tool kit, etc.  Even the large (though it's still only a 32") fits into the trunk in my BRZ (which was the real reason for getting a new bag in the first place). It's a small trunk, but the kicker is how low and small the opening is.  I'm thinking about picking up another one of the easton bags while they're on sale for my roller gear, but I'm afraid I'll bring the wrong back to the wrong rink.

The one thing I have had happen is a lot of the zipper pulls (the string part) come off.  I just made some paracord zipper pulls that are a little bigger and easier to pull anyway.

I purchased the Bauer Pro 15 bag earlier in the year and here's my experience owning it.

Prior to this bag I was using pro return carry bags from NHL/AHL teams.  Since I was traveling to Hong Kong to play in a tournament, I needed a bag that was less flashy and small enough that I could bring it with me on trains, buses and taxis to get from where I was staying to the rink located inside of a shopping mall (Megabox).

Positives: The bag has lots of handles and makes it easy to grab and travel with.  The build quality overall is excellent.  The two different styles of using the straps males it very versatile to fit between doors and taking it on public transit.  The design of the bag does not make it clunky like a traditionso backpack bag.

Things that could be improved: There is no window for an ID tag.  The strings for the zipper pulls are the only cheap feature about this bag.  They kept coming off on mine so I just leave it off now.  You must be at least 5' 8" tall to use the bag in the backpack orientation otherwise it's going to feel like a hiking backpack.

*** update ***

look like my dear pro15 is going to end its life cycle quite soon, maybe i ll just end this season like a last "hurrah". there re 2 big cuts on the bottom, cuts done on torsions over the years of use... the stitchs in the angles was totally torn out. and the backpack straps are slowly tear off too from the bag, doing some external cuts. and yeha, so now i am starting to search an alternative... but for what i found there s nothing that fit my taste.

pacific rink bag price is way too much for me. icon grit look nice BUT it is not a backpack. Bauer Vapor 1X Locker Wheel Bag (or SHERWOOD CODE V ROLLEN-RUCKSACK) looks nice but the price and wheels are not too much for me...

does anyone know something else?

😕

I have one of those 1X bags, and I really like it. The backpack straps make it pretty easy to carry, and I really like that it stands up on its own so it takes up a smaller footprint in the room. Yeah the wheels are going to get some chirps, but it’s a solid backpack bag if you don’t want to use them.

Rockstar Sports is making a goalie backpack carry bag that is getting rave reviews. It’s not on their website, so you have to contact them. I’m not sure, but they may make a player sized bag either off the shelf or as a custom piece. You may want to shoot them an email to see what they can do.

I have and LOVE this bag, mine is starting to tear above the straps and I'm hoping I can get it to survive til I find a replacement (I've seen them here and there as new old stock or on ebay but never took advantage at the time, now I wish I had). It's too bad nobody makes a nice basic bag like this, everything seems overpriced/overbuilt from what I've seen.
