Krev 86 Report post Posted October 25, 2007 If he's using that weight for resistance, he'd be better off with a parachute.
kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted October 25, 2007 But you can't use a parachute at open skate. ;)

shinedown21 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2007 i tried it out last week on tues and had a game on Thur... I felt a noticable difference. It's not bulky nor does it budge. its for resistance training. to make me stronger on my skates
wc19 1 Report post Posted October 25, 2007 maybe you can try getting those ankle weights and put them on at open skate. Always wanted to try but didn't get around to it.
Krev 86 Report post Posted October 25, 2007 I went through physical therapy for a leg contusion + hematoma, and part of the rehab was ankle weights. I was curious about their use for normal activities, like running, and obviously skating. I was told that you should never use ankle weights for anything except rehab, or stationary movement. Using them otherwise can put unnecessary strain on ligaments and muscles in your legs, and lead to tears, pulling certain extremities and so on. So I advise against using them except for stationary movement. Having resistance for skating is best used with pulling a tire around, a small parachute for wind resistance (Mike Modano uses this I believe), or if you have one, a bungee cord or a harness to strap to your chest or waist area. My very large $0.02.

halfmoonyote 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2007 Nothing special here, but I was pretty psyched to have picked these up.Nylon TPS HGT Pro Return Wild gloves. The cuff is a little longer than normal, giving them a more traditional fit.I don't necessarily care for the Minnesota Wild as a team, but I have to admit, the color combo is my favorite by far. So ugly, yet so good. :)
