Been away from hockey since Late 2013 because I was busy with college club baseball. Started fall season in Early August and lost the first game 14-12, giving up 13 of those. I've won the next 6 with a +/- of 14(highest +/- in the league). The group of guys I'm playing with are all "9-5ers", mostly doctors and I'm the "blue-collar" guy in the group teaching Special Education. I'm probably gonna skate out next season to entice my good friend to get back into it as well, but it's been so good getting back into the game I was put on this earth to play.

Worst player on the team takes 2+minute shifts, complains about everyone else taking long shifts. Watches the clock like a hawk and started the third period because he "only had 1:45 to finish the second". Chopped in the back of the leg and butt ended in front of the ref with no call. Getting really sick of the down side of hockey again. On the plus side, I only got a one game suspension for my reaction. It probably should have been closer to a month.

I played pretty much my entire life in lacrosse elbow pads. I used them in college club and never had an issue. Over the winter I fell just right on my elbow, and I must have bruised it pretty good, because it hurt for two months. I still continued to wear them. I just really wanted to try these out after reading up on them. If these weren't as mobile as they where I would still be using the lacrosse ones. For what its worth I have tried on a bunch of hockey elbow pads through the years most recently APX 2, MX3, Nexus 1000, Nexus 8000, RBZ, T90, and I will say none of them compare.

I have always used lacrosse elbow pads while playing. I read a bunch about how much the STX Surgeons felt like lacrosse pads finally decided to try them out. The mobility in these are far better than any hockey elbows I have ever tried on before.

Well, here it is. My return to the crease. Just a pickup, though. Went surprisingly well. My legs and ankles aren't anywhere near strong enough still so it was pretty painful to get up. But otherwise, not too bad. Funny thing is, a guy asked why I bought NYR pants. "Because they match?" caused him to give me a funny look. He must not know very many goalies ;)

It is amazing how well your skates will hold up when you treat them properly.

Had all my gear on for the first time since a broken ankle 4 months ago. Took warm-ups with my team, then sat on the bench for the game. We ended up winning 6-0. It was just amazing being out there again after such a long time being off. Probably the first D5 beer league team to have a backup goalie on the bench...LOL.

Team photo from this weekend's tournament. I am (of course) the goalie. Should've taken off my sweatband. Oh well.
