Looking forward to seeing a "Sweet Spot" ending to this story. Hang in there.

I still don't think it's going to matter. We thought that people would want to revert to LS2 when Edge came out so that they can keep Step. That didn't happen. I highly doubt many people will want to switch to a completely new holder at this point.

I hope everything gets better soon! It sounds like a real rough patch, but things seems to really be looking up!

ND Tier 1 beat our MT Tier 2 girls 11-0 (last year was 14-0). NDAHA (Tier 2) topped our kids 8-0. Our girls held SD to a 4-0 win--much closer game than 8-0 last year! My kid and one other girl played in this tourney last season. They were shell-shocked last year and really stepped up this weekend. It was really cool to see. Huge eye-opener for these girls to see higher level girls hockey outside of Montana. Geographically our state is enormous, but we have a tiny hockey community. The rest of the team was shell-shocked (except the goalie...who was amazing)...by the 3rd game they were starting to click! I'm looking forward to them coming back ready next season. This was pretty much the moment I realized that my daughter has passed me in ability and I will never catch up to her. I'm crazy proud of how hard she's pushed herself this year and how much she has learned. She's also a kid who has always played coed hockey and never really integrated socially with girls--she did really well off ice with her team which I was equally happy to see. My kid took a stick to the ribs her last shift of the last game. She probably has bruised ribs. She's in pain, but she'll heal. I'm glad it wasn't her head.

Holy crap! That's a lot to take in! I'm sorry you had to go through all that, what a nightmare. Glad to hear things seem to be looking up, though.

great game from David last night. Third career hat trick (2nd w/Blues). He's been playing great all season so it was nice to see him finally get some goals. He could've had 4 but passed to Steen at the end for the empty netter..

So. Here goes. Back in March I was rushed to the ER (I'm Northern Irish, we usually call it casualty or Accident and Emergency) with sepsis. I spent 3 days in intensive care and a further 2 on a ward. I had a minor heart attack too whilst I was there. I don't recall much of it. I lost a lot of weight, dropping from 230lbs to 160 in the weeks after. My mental health took a battering too, to the point I attempted to overdose 3 times. I lost my job because I was unable to work, developed scar tissue in my left lung where the infection had been, and I ended up on welfare. No matter what I tried I could not gain weight and was pounding back pints of water every day. I tried to get back to hockey but my gear was hanging on me like a badly dressed mannequin and my energy levels were at an all time low. I couldn't complete a training session and games were out of the question. I developed thrush and it was only then that my doctor asked had I been tested for diabetes. I hadn't so I went in the next morning and did a fasting blood test. That was a Thursday, and the following Monday my doctor called me and told me to get to the ER because I needed insulin ASAP. It transpires that the sepsis has basically killed my pancreas and left me as an insulin dependent diabetic. I'm currently undergoing tests on my thyroid at the minute to determine if it works properly too. My mental health is returning and I've gained weight too, although I've been very conscious of my diet ever since I was diagnosed diabetic. I've an appointment with a therapist this Friday, and my doctor has put my meds on weekly dispense to keep the temptation of overdosing away. I'm in the process of trying to get my visa so I can emigrate to Canada too. I'm also returning to training with my team next week, they asked why I hadn't been up in a while and when I explained the situation they said theu would waive my fees until I got back on my feet financially.

The Russian embassy (my Saturday pickup group) pretty uniformly wears modern equipment. There's one guy who wears a pair of Ducks-colors (teal and eggplant) Franklin gloves, and another guy has had the same skates for 20 years. Other places, I've seen the assorted jofa helmets and cat-eye cages, a Lanny MacDonald style helmet, and even one guy wearing one of those old helmets that's basically chunks of leather padding without an actual shell. A lot of socks that were clearly issued in someone's youth hockey days ca. 1975. Lots of gloves of the same vintage.

Been getting some ice time recently, and really enjoying playing again after a few years hiatus. Went to the A/B drop in last night and had good fun, more passing at this level compared to the C level that I'm used to playing at. Really need to work on my shooting, as I flubbed on a couple of chances. I did get a good shot on net, high blocker side, missed by a couple inches.
