Can I just pop in and say I can't believe this thread is still kicking after 4+ years? Too bad the skates haven't lasted that long.

I'm actually kicking myself for not getting on the bandwagon sooner. By far the best fitting, most comfortable skate I have found in my short skating career. Sad to see them going the way of the Dodo. Hopefully mine hold up for awhile.

Played 3 games with them (2 Monday, 1 last night), and really like what the Powerfoot does. It just really dials in an already good fit for me. I bought Tacks last Halloween, and have played 2-4x a week with them since then (Sr./10D). I really like everything about the skates, but felt the toe box had just a tad too much room for me. These solved that small issue, and I actually feel like my skating is even better. Even if the latter is just placebo, any little bit helps, even if its just a mental thing. Great product. Putting another set in my designated pond hockey skates tonight.

As a complete newbie, I was struggling with how my foot should feel in the boot and felt like I was either on my toes or on my heels. I was breaking in my new Bauer Vapor X700's and with so much room in the toe area, I was concerned that my feet/toes weren't staying flat in front of my arches. I bucked up and bought the Powerfoot inserts and it certainly felt snug at first but the second I stepped on the ice it felt like my feet and the ice skates were finally "connected". After only a few skates the inserts started to break in and become less snug and I actually look forward to the feel of sliding my foot into the boot and feel a little pressure on my toes. I can see how very experience skaters may not want and/or need this but as a newbie, I really liked how it forced me to become more sensitive to how my feet fit on the sole of the boot. As a result I was able to pinpoint that I need a little more heel lift to take pressure off my inner arches (resolved by using Superfeet yellow inserts), plus I may need a punch out once the boots are a little more seasoned.

Background: Played inline hockey for about 16 years (up to State and Nationals), took a 3+ year hiatus with kids, and then got back to playing Ice Hockey (C Grade & Beer League) last year. Went from Gear-obsessed player to now part-time gear whore. Previous gloves are too numerous to list, but have used the top end offering of each of the various product lines for a large number of different manufacturers. Most recently my gloves were a Warrior QR1 before switching to the STX Stallion 500. I also have a pair of STX Surgeon 500, and both pairs of STX were 14". With previous gloves, if the gloves were too snug, I would have cut away the internal padding. Fit: I'm normally a 4-roll glove user, as I prefer a looser fitting glove. The Surgeon 500 gloves were too snug and were cast aside very quickly. The Stallions were an awesome fit from the start, marketed as a tapered finger fit to a wider back of the hand fit.... There was no limitation for wrist movement, and gave me very good mobility. The fingers did not feel any restriction nor snugness, I've been practicing circling around and quick turns on my weaker side for the past few weeks (top hand going under) and these do not hinder any movement. 10/10 Protection: The protection on these gloves are excellent, and I've tried using my stick to hit the back of my hand and have not really felt anything. I've played about a dozen or so games with the gloves and have taken hacks and slashes to the back of the glove, and so far they continue to provide me excellent protection. One point to note is during one play, I was tripped pretty badly and landed on the thumb of my right hand. While it was sore, the hyper-lock did its job and prevented hyper extending my thumb. Point to note that I also took a inline slapshot off that same thumb before and protection of the gloves then also prevented injury. 10/10 Weight: Very lightweight gloves, have not actually weighed them myself. However due to the material of the palm it tends to absorb quite a fair amount of moisture during the game (both sweat and water). They dont feel waterlogged, but noticeably heavier as the game progresses 8/10 Durability: No complaints about durability at this stage. Gloves have seen about a dozen games, and more than a dozen drop-ins and training sessions. No piling of the material, and I've used sticks with both Tacki-macs and standard cloth tape. There were a few stray strands of thread, but no damage after cutting those off. 9/10 Intangibles: Nothing flash about these gloves. They get the job done, and I do feel more reassured that the protection of these gloves are excellent. Maybe its a psychological thing, but I value protection over performance. 8/10 Conclusion: Excellent pair of gloves, I was a little skeptical trying out STX especially without the distribution network in this part of the world. These have performed well, and considering the injury I potentially could have sustained when i fell heavily on my thumb, they have given me reassurance to keep using them. 45/50

Male, 6'1", 210lbs, playing in B-D leagues. I mainly use 4-roll gloves from various manufacturers (Eagle PPF, Eagle X72, Eagle X95, Eagle Fusion, Warrior Franchise 14N, Easton 4-Roll Pro, and Graf G65) so these STXs are a big change for me. I have played with these gloves once a week for 8 months. Disclaimer: I went by the factory STX sale and bought these Surgeon directly from the manufacturer. The shell is slightly different from retail as they are pro stock samples, so they have less branding, and the entire shell is nylon. Otherwise, they are identical to retail Surgeon 500 gloves. Fit: This is where I was most skeptical initially, as I normally use 4-roll gloves that give me a ton of mobility. After playing for a while, I'm in love. I have tried on every glove at the store, and can't find anything that has a snug fit in the fingers and backhand, but has no limitation for wrist movement. I find they give me the great mobility of a open-cuff 4-roll, but they take away the sloppy lower hand fit. These are my first pair of gloves with stretch gussets, and they allow for a low gusset height, but allow for a tight grip on sticks. The gussets combined with the three-piece fingers and flex thumb, give great dexterity. One note: I use 14" gloves for everything else and use a 15" for these, so be sure to try on a size up. 10/10 Protection: The foams in these gloves are on the thin side, but they are backed up by full plastics. I have taken a good amount of beer league slashes, and have no major complaints. The gloves offer good wrist protection, as cuffs are pretty long and flare out. However, they are not tanks like my Franchises, so I am a little cautious during games. 8/10 Weight: These seem to be very light weight gloves. I'm not sure about the actual weights, but they are lighter than all my other mitts. 10/10 Durability: My only real complaint about these gloves is durability. The shells are holding up well. The binding between the thumb and finger on my upper hand is starting to fray. The biggest gripe: is the palm. I use a very small cloth tape butt end (example) and it's chewing up the palm on my upper hand. I think they would have been better serves by using a different overlay, maybe a tougher grip material. 5/10 Intangibles: I am a bit of a snob about gloves, and think they could have used better materials for the palms. Something a bit softer for the main material, and something a bit more grippy/durable for the overlay would be preferred. I like the cleaner look of the pro-stock model without all the graphics. Padding throughout the gloves, all the way through the fingers makes these extremely comfortable. 7/10 Conclusion: I might be converted from four-rolls forever. A REALLY good first try for a new hockey company, they got a lot right. By far the best fitting "anatomical" gloves I have tried on. Once I wear through these palms, I'll get them replaced with better materials, then these will be unstoppable. 40/50

So in my inline league everyone has one bye week. This is the third time in a row they've given us the first week bye. But this season they gave us another bye on the last week of the season and scheduled us for two games on one Wednesday at 8:50pm and 10:40pm. Wtf.

Seems wrong to "like" your post, but we'll pretend that's an "I agree, F Cancer" button. Sorry to hear, man.

There is a 79 year old in local 50+ league wearing a pair of Bauer Supreme skates from 1962. The guy holds his own out there, I spoke with him and he no longer drives...finds lifts to rink to play shinny. I'll get a pic and post it, amazing those skates have lasted about 55 years of 1-2 times a week hockey!
