As someone who grew up with the rise of pop-punk on the radio, i see “Ska Boots” and i think of bright colored Doc Martens with black & white checkered laces.

Having just picked up a pair of TF9’s, I went 8R when I normally wear an 8.5D in Bauer. I don’t have abnormally shaped feet although my left foot is slightly longer than my right. My ideal size in Bauers is 8.25D, but when I buy retail I normally go with 8.5 because an 8 cramps the toes on my left foot too much. With the Trues, I was worried 8 might be too big and I’d have to step down to 7.5, then once I tried them on the 8’s felt too snug in the toes. However after baking them they fit damn near perfect and gave both my feet the space needed in the toe box.

I gotta post this in tribute to the 2s pros. I took a clapper straight to the fingers tonight from a former echl and d1 player, big fat rip, clean shot, wide open right in the slot and it got me square on the fingers of my top hand. I thought I was done, but I felt it a bit, but not even a sting, just the impact. I'm sure there are other gloves out there that are similar, but I was sure that something was going be broken, and thankfully I didn't miss a play and was not injured. It was really a miracle for me. Can't recommend these enough.

I was going to suggest something similar. Not as tech heavy. Most places call them "balance disks". Basically a squashed ball you inflate. Do one foot balance exercises on it. Once you are comfortable, you can stickhandle and do other things to make it more challenging. https://www.amazon.com/Body-Sport-ZZRVDBL-BodySport-Balance/dp/B00CV4X6PY/ref=asc_df_B00CV4X6PY/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=194945998049&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14018454177132143299&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003519&hvtargid=pla-316259129675&psc=1

This thread was extremely helpful in getting a pair of TF9 that fit properly. Thank you all. I went from a Bauer 8.5D to a True 8R. Once baked they fit both my feet perfectly! Wondering if anyone has tried the felt t-guard tongue with these? The stock tongue seems fine, but from a looks perspective, I prefer traditional felt. Mounted the R1's to the Trues and removed most of the colorful graphics as they were too loud for me. Very happy I made the jump to these. Now I just hope they hold up durability-wise.

I work with the top skills group in Sweden, JRM Skates and Skills (check out our videos on YT or IG). There's really no such thing as weak ankles, it's not anatomically possible. Just either poor fitting skates or poor body control. Without ever seeing you skate, just basing on your description, I'd say try a new modern skate (way more comfy now), don't lace the top eyelet (today's skate eyelets are much higher), and bend you knees more.

Keep in mind that Bauer only has one curve option at retail on its composite sticks, P31 mid curve. CCM only offers two, both heel curves. Honestly, I don't know how many goalies shop for a curve. There isn't too much variation with them. I think with goalie sticks people are shopping a price point and paddle length and taking whatever curve it is. Goalies that are good enough puck handlers that they shop for a curve based on that are so rare that stocking inventory for them doesn't make sense. That all being said, I have to go pro stock and get Bauer P34s because they have a lower lie, and I prefer the paddle shape of the Bauer Supreme sticks.
