  1. And in many places even if you ask for something different you’re likely just going to get 1/2” anyway.
  2. What does this have to do with the thread you posted in?
  3. Our league is actually doing something about the lack of parity. Shocking.
  4. They are really hard to put on. I spot heated the top of mine to open it up, but still use a long shoe horn to slide my feet in. I get some weird looks still when I do it but whatever.
  5. Keep in mind I’m in goalie skates. My player skates are 5/8.
  6. It was noticeable but in a good way so it wasn't a big deal. If it was a problem I could have just got a 7/16 ring and tried that instead.
  7. I don’t think it has anything to do with the Sparx but I did change from a 1/2 to a 3/8 ring a few months ago.
  8. Thankfully that disaster is going to be forgotten thanks to the new Ghostbusters movie coming out.
  9. Huh I’m surprised I never replied in that thread. Basically, the massive step up in comfort from normal skates to Mako was about equally matched by going from Mako to VH. That said if the Mako still existed I’d gladly go that route to save $500.
  10. I personally just don't care as long as it's comfortable. But I understand those who do.
  11. Oh man that makes me want to go one-piece!
  12. Keith Flint (The Prodigy singer) Luke Perry And back to hockey, Ted Lindsay.
  13. Completely agree with everything you said. Unlike off the shelf skates where you're pulling hard to try to wrap the facing around your foot, with VH it just wasn't necessary. Just enough to be snug. And I dumped waxed laces almost immediately.
  14. Any pain I had when I got my VH was alleviated by not tying the skate so tight. There's no reason to tie tightly with that kind of foot wrap.
  15. Indeed. I'd much rather have complete consistency.
  16. I always compare it to a good pair of hiking boots. A nice even pressure all around your entire foot.
  17. Heh yep. Makes the “really expensive” travel case actually look like not that bad of a price.
  18. I did. I went back to the stock insoles. Like you mentioned, it makes little sense to put in something with an artificial foot shape in a boot that was made for your foot.
  19. For the base layer just go to target. You don’t need anything super performance wicking blah blah like you might as a player.
  20. Man those are $280-ish. I think for the price difference I’d just go with the Sparx case. Not even so much for the machine, but so the accessories fit perfectly too.
