The moves that looked incredibly stupid, that looked pretty smart after round one, now look incredibly stupid again. Not only losing your best players for nothing but doubling down to acquire more for a cup run? That’s a GM that should have been let go the day after they were eliminated.

He’s bitching about me.

Well that didn't take long. Some ignorant jackass on Boston radio hung up on a Carolina beat reporter because he (paraphrasing) "can't stand listening to a guy with a southern accent trying to talk hockey" Oh, the irony when it comes to accents...

I picked Blues in 6 before last night's game, but the Sharks changed my mind. I'm going Sharks in 7.

Quick turnaround on this series. I think the bunch of jerks from Carolina are going to pull it off. They've just been so damn consistent.

Women's Professional Hockey at crossroads

Yes very much so. The biggest hurdle was the two pro leagues, and the way they were organized and the way they were using the money. Just like when the CWHL folded and the players all said it was a good thing even when the media was reporting it as a bad thing. -

Looks like the Beauts have relinquished control back to the NWHL. They were one of the only teams (I think there was two of them) who actually had an owner rather than being owned by the league. https://www.tsn.ca/pegulas-relinquish-control-of-buffalo-beauts-1.1302645 -

I think you may have missed the point entirely. -
There is no major for Illegal check to the head. It's either a minor, or a match penalty. Since there didn't seem to be any intent to injure, as you said, the match was not appropriate. I don't think it had anything to do with the apology thing that you seem really stuck on.
-
Yeah, I agree. I don't think anyone thinks he's a dirty player or anything. I also don't think it was intentional, which is why there was no match penalty assessed. Sometimes shit happens and you have to pay the price for it. It did, and he is. Not a big deal.

Depends who you ask, and what your definition of "performance" is. What is the criteria? -
Mcavoy suspended 1 game. Not at all surprising. https://www.tsn.ca/boston-bruins-defenceman-charlie-mcavoy-suspended-one-game-for-hit-on-josh-anderson-1.1301894

I guess I didn't see a dust tray as something that needed to be more durable. -

I think this is really the point, here. Give them the chance to see if it works. Rich businessmen have gambled on far worse. I think one thing that some people don't fully understand is why the folding of the CWHL was actually viewed as a good thing by the athletes, and that the boycott isn't so much meant to be a strike as it's basically meant to end the NWHL. The NHL has stated they will not get involved as long as the CWHL and NWHL are still around. The NWHL has been run incredibly poorly and competing with the CWHL has been bad for both leagues. I suggest everyone listen to this interview with my favorite women's hockey player, Shannon Szabados: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/779-leafs-lunch-28849160/episode/szabados-on-the-state-of-womens-31144871/ -

Interesting. I wonder why the metal dust tray... Does the screw replace the plastic piece that you're supposed to install when moving the machine? -
Makes sense 🙂 Nothing wrong with that!

I wear Swiftwick Aspire Four socks for skate socks. Absolutely love them. The foot is fairly thin but not really compression, but the cuff over the ankle is double thickness with a bit of compression but not a ton. Best socks I’ve ever used for hockey.

First time I've ever played in a tournament. Won the first game Friday night 2-1. On Saturday we lost the first game by a score of 3-1 with an empty net (I'll get to that in a moment). Saturday night we beat the eventual champion 4-3 in a shootout (I'll be getting to that one as well). The team that won the tournament actually had two games they won with a score of 10-2. We ended up not making it to the championship. We were tied with another team for points, and goal differential, and ended up breaking the tie with a head-to-head (the team we lost to so they owned that tie breaker). Now for those notes... if we had won the third game in regulation rather than the shootout, we would have had the second most points and played in the championship. Beyond that, if we had NOT pulled the goalie in our 3-1 loss, we would have also owned the goal differential tiebreaker from a 2-1 loss and still made the championship. Oh, hindsight on the decision to pull the goalie... I never in a million years would have thought an empty net goal in the second game would have ended our run... All in all I'm pretty damn proud of our team. Being eliminated on the THIRD tie-breaker shows we played well enough to win. Knowing we also beat the eventual champions meant we very well could have taken the whole damn thing. That said, it was kind of nice to get to go home Saturday and not play on Sunday (at least, until my usual league game!) What a crazy week. Hockey Wednesday night, Softball Thursday night, hockey Friday night, hockey twice Saturday, and hockey Sunday night. I'm pretty sore.

The ref in hockey pants/socks is a bit odd...

Fantastic! Friends don’t let friends wear plastic masks! The only time I ever have was about a month I wore an NME3 while my NME8 was being painted. I know it was risky but at that time I didn’t have multiple masks.

First time ever playing in a tournament, playing for my former rookie league team. First game of the weekend was 4-2. Not many shots against so the video is pretty short.
