  1. Oh man that makes me want to go one-piece!
  2. Keith Flint (The Prodigy singer) Luke Perry And back to hockey, Ted Lindsay.
  3. It's kind of like not wearing a seatbelt because you're a good driver. On one hand, it's not you that you need to be concerned about. Other the other hand, you may say "I don't need it because I've never had any issues" until you very much do.
  4. The original Avision was even better! I still have mine somewhere.
  5. Completely agree with everything you said. Unlike off the shelf skates where you're pulling hard to try to wrap the facing around your foot, with VH it just wasn't necessary. Just enough to be snug. And I dumped waxed laces almost immediately.
  6. Any pain I had when I got my VH was alleviated by not tying the skate so tight. There's no reason to tie tightly with that kind of foot wrap.
  7. Indeed. I'd much rather have complete consistency.
  8. I always compare it to a good pair of hiking boots. A nice even pressure all around your entire foot.
  9. I could see that. In lower divisions especially the guys in visors are usually the guys who are in the wrong division.
  10. Heh yep. Makes the “really expensive” travel case actually look like not that bad of a price.
  11. I did. I went back to the stock insoles. Like you mentioned, it makes little sense to put in something with an artificial foot shape in a boot that was made for your foot.
  12. For the base layer just go to target. You don’t need anything super performance wicking blah blah like you might as a player.
  13. Man those are $280-ish. I think for the price difference I’d just go with the Sparx case. Not even so much for the machine, but so the accessories fit perfectly too.
  14. Wait, what did you have on under your stripes before? Just a short sleeve t-shirt? Depending on the level (and therefore how much you're having to move) I'd probably be going with lighter or heavier base layer under-armor style shirts. Just make sure the logo isn't visible at your neck. Yes, Official's registration is totally a separate thing. Since you're (probably) too late to take a seminar (there may still be some running but most are in the fall), I think I'd wait for the next season to start up before paying.
  15. I think it's more likely that any carelessness with their stick is because the average beer leaguer never played high level hockey. Much more so than the fact that people have cages. I can't speak for everyone, but personally I don't really want to clip somebody in the face regardless of whether they have a cage or not, so I'm no more and no less careful regardless of what somebody is wearing. In fact, the protection somebody has on their face has absolutely no bearing on what I do on the ice. Probably because I suck at hockey and am looking down at the puck the entire time...
  16. I do 2 or 4 passes before every game. Quite excessive obviously, but being a goalie I have a lot of nicks from the posts I have to try to get out. It IS great for me, now that you mention it! Wouldn't surprise me. That would be an interesting thing to document. Mine are 3/8 and like I said, on Step black steel.
  17. My Step Blacksteel doesn’t burr at all. I just wipe with a towel and I’m done.
  18. Do whatever you’re comfortable with and screw everyone else
  19. At the time I was still going to noicing for sharpening (would never use them now though) and I just had them do a “slight negative”, if I recall correctly. It helped a ton.
  20. I felt the same in Makos. Way too much on my toes. I had them profiled and it was never a problem again. Maybe you’d be a good candidate for the MSH Prosharp project!
  21. That's the foam that CCM uses on their shoulder pads, for example.
  22. I just watched a youtube video of Al's greatest insults. I was dying laughing. My wife was not.
  23. Cool so we get to hear the story just one more time.
