Man o' man, what great timing. Somehow i developed a hole on my bottom hand thumb. Never in my life have i had a hole happen on my bottom hand of any glove i've owned. Anyhow, there's two layers of leather ( or synthetic leather ) and it only the top layers that has the hole. This stuff looks like it would de great to cover up the existing hole and i won't have to worry about the second layer eventually opening up. OP - How thin is this material? Relatively thin or a bit on the thicker side?

Height is often times a preference sort of thing. However, a general rule with skates on, a forward would have the stick be just under the bottom of your chin. Defenseman, closer to the mouth or just below the nose. Preferences can of course be in between the two, or it could go outside the range ( even shorter or longer that what i stated). Shorter sticks are better for stick handling, longer is harder for stick handling, but give yous reach for forward take aways or defenseman blocking shots or chipping pucks away. I'm 6'4 and play D, i used to use a stick up to my nose, but my god it was horrible for stick handling. Over the years i slowly cut it down and have it just below my lower lip. Still plenty of length and reach being tall, but it has seriously helped with my stick handling abilities. Just my 2 cents as a beer leaguer now.

How durable is the skin and what did it cost? They look just like my 100K Pro's, which i love bc of how subtle the graphics are on such a great skate. I'd actually like to get a skin made if they are durable that looks just like the original graphics of the 100k Pro's as mine are getting very beat up.

45 years old, decent mens league skater and somebody who doesn't like to change things up.........this was my story. However, after everything i read up on prior to purchasing, i never wanted to bail out on my new CCM 100K pro Skates and my profiled steel. I've always skated with the top eyelt un-used and same went for my 100K pro's. I just felt soooo much better. First skate or two i definitely caught the toe or heel on occasion, but it really only took me 3-4 skates to get comfortable and its been fantastic ever since.

uhmmmmmmmmmmmm, how did you get yours with the carbon fiber showing? To the understanding of many here, the north american models don't show the carbon fiber on the retail skates.

yea i tried the bauers and ccm's on in my local hockey shop, but again, was very UNimpressed with the cap design and general feel of their top of the line gear. I actually found the warriors on clearance via one of the major online retailers, and figured what the heck, i already liked the warriors i had in the past. When I go them and put them on, i knew immediately that they were of good quality and fitment. Maybe one of two games worth of playing and they felt great. Like @xstartxtodayx said though, sometimes it just comes down to body/arm shapes. What might work for me, might not work for another guy and vice versa.

I'm using Warrior Alpha DX Pro pads from the 2020 or so model year( $125 or so back then ). Mine look just like the ones currently available, but just a different color scheme. It looks like the new model has an updated strap and fore arm guard, but other than that they look virtually identical. These elbow pads are a 3 piece design with a sleeve that helps hold them in place and they fit me just about as good as i could have hoped for. They fit me very fell ( i'm 6'3 230 lbs ) and I get almost no slip or movement while playing. I've taken some bumps and falls as well and never has my elbow felt beat up or bruised. I became a huge fan of the 3 piece design with some Warrior bona fide pads i got about 10-12 years ago. They also fit me great, but fell apart over time ( poor stitching ). After those, I then tried a pair of pro stock warrior elbow pads i grabbed about 5-6 years ago as they looked just like the bona fide model i had, also fit me very well and were 3 piece, but they were just too bulky. Have them as my back ups now incase i ever cant find something i like after the current warriors. Before settling on my current warriors, I tried on top of the line bauer supremes, vapors and the ccm super tacks models and all of them felt to ridged and cheap...... and honestly it felt like they lacked the elbow pocket protection i wanted......especially for the price tags Tried the warriors i am currently in and they have been fantastic.

@VegasHockey Question for you.......I recall a post you made year or so ago, where you talked about the new ASV Skate line and the new skate last / moulds compared to the the Ribcors. More specifically, I think you said you were a regular width 9.5 in the 100k Pro's, but were a 9.0 tapered in the ASV's. Where do you stand with the FT6 Pro's? Are they more voluminous like the ASV's or are they less, more so like the 100K pro's? For reference, I am in 100k Pro's now and felt the exact same thing you did. I too had to go a half size smaller and down to the tapered when trying out the ASV's. I opted for the 100k's bc they were not as stiff, and went a half size up and chose the regular width for the perfect fit compared to the ASV's

Damn...somebody just got a pair of $1100 skates for like $350.......brand new.

I've had 100k Pro's for about 8+ months now and they have been great. I skate twice a week as a 45 year old beer leaguer, who is 6'4 and 230 lbs and I can put them through their paces pretty well. So far they have been holding up great. They fit me like a glove and frankly are the best fitting skate I have ever owned. I hope they continue to last bc I really do like them. For the record I also tried on the AS-V Pros in various sizes and widths and skated in the one pair that fit me best. Unfortunately, it was like skating in ski boots, just way too stiff for my liking. The 100K's are incredibly comfortable and plenty stiff with just a enough give to make me feel proper while skating.

Yea i ended up grabbing a couple of the pro stock R shaft sticks that i found after creating this post. I've played with one for a month or so now and it feels fine to me. Absolutely nothing stands out in terms of geometry difference that makes me dislike it. Glad I grabbed them, especially at the price i paid.

The bold could likely be the issue. A click or two in one direction or the other may be needed to center the stone properly. Also, was an edge level check done to see if one side is higher than the other? The edge level checker is pretty important if something feels off and you are trying to adjust a stone to center it as best as possible.

To those who have DIY D3O on their equipment...

I just did something like this a few months ago. Got tripped while making a rush with the puck, landed square on my right knee cap ( like kneeling down ), with all 230 lbs of body weight going right on to my knee cap. Took a few weeks for the bruise and pain to dissipate. My shin guards are the Easton EQ50's and believe me, I've crash tested them many times over the years and was very happy with them. I felt like they were pretty beefy and offered good protection. After this fall though, I noticed that the hex foam that is sewn into the actual plastic knee cap ( not the liner with donut hole ) is all but collapsed. I went to hobby lobby and grabbed a sheet of 4 or 5mm EVA foam for like $5 and cut out some large round sections and added them to the the area between the removeable liner and the actual plastic knee cap area. No idea how effective it will be, as i have not crashed tested the new set up yet, but I have not noticed anything in terms of discomfort and i'm sure having some extra padding can only help. Ill post a pic if i get a chance -
lol so much for my hypothesis, maybe just a typo, who knows i guess.

Wonder if the units of measure are different ( metric measurement vs american imperial ). If metric, it would give a larger number and may explain the 215. Just a thought

I dont necessarily have a "fix", but I did notice that the hole that is used to push over the pin seems to be slightly oval shaped. I did a double take on my 100k Pro's and it definitely was. To me, if you try to use your fingers or a pair of plyers, you may be able to squish the oval tighter. I feel like if you try to make the hole more round, it will actually have less of an ability to hold in place.

I assume you mean the XS removable tongues?
-
@VegasHockey I know this might be trivial to some, but do the graphics rub off easily on the new lines ( AS-V line up as well ) of shin guards like the older models did? Buddy of mine got a pair of the FT6 shin guards last week at our local Pure Hockey, and after one skate there's a few spots where the graphics are already chip / rubbed away.

Skate skate skate and skate. The more you skate and the more skating practice you have, the better you will be. If you get general skating down, hockey stopping on both sides make things come together in my opinion. Watch videos on how to start slow and progress from there. Knowing how to confidently hockey stop on both sides was the "light switch" for me when i first picked up ice skating.

interesting take. Never would have thought of that and can see how the geometry would allow that to happen. Thank you Also, does the geometry extend to the top of the shaft? I though i saw somewhere that the top hand area begins to loose the geometry. I use the thinnest style tacki mac grips, so I'm not sure if I'd even be able to tell anyhow, just curious.

Looking to grab a new stick or two and cant find exactly the build I want in pro stocks. Found one that has an R shaft, where i've played with CCM's T shafts for many many years now. The shafts on an R are slightly taller, slightly narrower and has slightly concave sides. Do any stick experts have any insight on the R shafts by CCM? I know sticks are all preference based, but curious what others think. 6'4" tall guy here, with average sized hands ( using 14" gloves ).

Want to do the same to my EQ50 shin guards. They have served me well over the years but the hex foam in one knee cap is completely flat. Got tripped and went down directly on my knee cap last night and its really sore today. Not the first time this has happened in the last 2-3 year either. Where did you find the D30 stuff? And did the glue work? I was thinking of stitching it onto the back of my removable shin liner ( on the back side where the donut hole cut out is ). I have no idea if the D30 material is something that can be stitched though...….

Too funny, same skates and everything. but yup, those are the ones I have. Shoot me a PM with an offer if you would like them.

Resurrecting this thread that I came across. @VegasHockey , four years later, as a hockey shop owner, where is the market right now? More low kicks, mid kicks or hybrids? Just curious.

Skate profiling recommendation for amateur player
noupf replied to vp1304's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I'm on the ellipse 1 with my 9.5 100k Pro's and I wish pro sharp would publish the approximate measurements of the ellipse profiles. I may grab an extra set of steel for my skates and try the 0.5 as I fee like it may be just a little more aggressive in the front half of the blade vs the ellipse 1. I like the ellipse 1 for the most part, balance and glide are great, but i feel like it feels just a little long in the front and i feel like it leaves me wanting just a little more of an aggressive toe area. I'm afraid of going too aggressive in the toe with a quad and too long in the back with the quad.
