I skated on the previous generation holder with and without profiled steel. Without my usual profiled steel it was a disaster. With the profiled steel I felt good, almost normal, very little time to adjust. The Marsblade helps keep the blade on the ice longer when going into/out of hard turns and such. That in combination with the proper profile for a players skating style should yield good result. Overall, the Gen 1 holder was good, but heavy, and the structure of it was too delicate. If this Gen 2 holder corrected those issues then it might be something to consider.

They are advertised as thin. -
Vapor 2X Pro Skate Fit 1 v Fit 2 v. Supreme Fit

A 7.0 FIT2. -
A scanner is not judge and jury. You should never base your size solely on the scan itself. Any good CCM retailer would recommend you try on multiple pairs of skates to find the right size and fit. The custom option then takes that to the next level. I have had the scanner recommend size 10 wide skates to players who wear a 7.5 regular.

Thats why I like the Howies thin unwaxed laces. -
The new LX.

I hope they keep them mostly black.

Because taking a scan with your body weight pushing down on your feet in a hockey stance is more accurate than scanning you with your feet in the air. CCM custom skates dont' really do anything with your arch, hence why they include Orthomove insoles with the custom skates.

Best place to look for a used skate sharpener?

Junior will be less wide. I would look at CCM FT4 gloves and the new TRUE Catalyst gloves. Both fit very snug.

I've had to convert a few of the newer TRUE skates with the screw/nut tendon guard back to the copper style since the players (D1 college and Junior A) kept snapping the screw inside the actual nut located in the tendon guard. It seems like this is just something that happens eventually over time. All of these skates were right around the 1-year mark. I assume as time goes on the tendon becomes more flexible and the increase in movement puts more torque on the tendon screw assembly and it breaks.

Possible Supination - Outside Edge Issues
VegasHockey replied to FlyChicaga's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Look at the bottom of a pair of shoes you wear often and you will be able to easily see if you pronate or supinate. To me, it sounds like you supinate. -
I think with the 100k skates there is more fiberglass in the boot too allow more flexion so that time seems fine. I also don't really crank the laces or anything. I prefer to use the plastic shrink wrap method. Also, since they are my skates I don't really care if they break down fast as I swap skates often to try out every model released. Customers skates I won't ever go over 3 minutes unless it's a custom AS3 Pro and they requested it to be extra stiff.

I bake my skates 3 times, each time for 4m 30s. Thats with the oven already prewarmed

Get it professionally done.

I went with the standard donut foams. I didnt see a need to go with anything thicker.

Carbonlite runners from Hyperlite
VegasHockey replied to Beerleaguebumhockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Highly heat conductive materials transfer temperature more easily than materials with low heat conductivity. Composite made from carbon fiber and epoxy resin is a material with heat conductivity x 40 times less than aluminum and 10 times less than steel. -

They sharpen decently well, but not as good as the Pulse Ti or LS5. I don't think you can sharpen them on a ProSharp due to the clamp. Havent tried Sparx. Only used my SSM units. -
I have a friend who is a pro rep for CCM and he got me the retail tongue. I like it more than the custom options.

CCM Girdle Opinions: Jetspeed vs. Tacks
VegasHockey replied to fbvnyc's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Weird. The Tacks model I have doesn't have the diaper and also isn't adjustable in the rear thigh pads. It's a pro stock model so maybe it's different than the retail version. -
We can just bind your feet and you'll be good to go. Lol

Employee pricing is so cheap I figured, may as well..? Lol

CCM Girdle Opinions: Jetspeed vs. Tacks
VegasHockey replied to fbvnyc's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Ive both the new Jetspeed girdle and the Super Tacks. They both have pros and cons. The Jetspeed is more adjustable and lighter but offers less protection. The Super Tacks is less adjustable, heavier, and provides more protection. I also dislike that the Jetspeed girdle has fabric which makes it fit kind of like a diaper which I hate.
