  1. I thought the parabolic steel was supposed to flex in the middle when turning, I don’t recall any spring-like effect claimed.
  2. The steel is the spring so it will return/spring back to its original shape, no external prompting needed.
  3. The blade is the spring, the front is unsupported and flexes up (correct me if I got this wrong).
  4. Cool, so basically redirecting the vector. So I'm a nerd and not trying to challenge anything, just find the science interesting. My next question would be: Upon recovery and transitioning to the "stride" when the loading is applied to the blade, isn't more of the force directed to the middle of the blade and transfers to the toe as the stride is executed? If so, where is the loading taking place? I saw the video and that you have the pressure monitor (used to use similar for designing wearable medical devices) which I would suppose help understand how those forces are applied throughout the stride. Lastly, what is the magnitude of the force being redirected? Even if the above argument proves to be true, the blade 1) has to store and redirect enough energy to make a difference 2) would have to release it before the skate lifted which could then be dependent on stride mechanics to get the most out of this. Is the 5% increase in velocity proven out over a large sample set?
  5. No clue, one is a .500 team and the other below .500. I gotta think the Leafs should pull this out but who knows?
  6. Depends on what Bauer patented, I have to think the interface is a key component, and there would be no way around that. The premise sounds iffy to me, the idea of being able to compress steel longitudinally without it torquing sounds difficult. Secondly, by the time it would actually "release", it seems you would be completing your stride/toe flick and just beginning the recovery portion. Shouldn't be too hard to calculate exactly how much potential energy would be stored by this compression and also measure how much is actually returned to the skater. It can't create energy, only store it, so for a given stride it seems like it could either actually absorb the energy and release it once the toe is lifted (wasting energy and decreasing acceleration) or actually it does release into the ice and to me for the same stride would return the same amount of energy as a non-compressed blade, just with a changed force curve. Need to see the evidence.
  7. Yeah, Pens are pretty deep. McCann and Hornqvist on the third line is strong and the forth has already shown it’s very effective. Plus a way underrated blue line.
  8. How do you know the Kraken isn’t real? The lack of proportion of the hem is weird, I agree, but the colors are on, gloves should look cool.
  9. Yeah, Murray got lit up in a session with a stacked team against him, tonight it looked more balanced and the score was also closer.
  10. Yeah, Price is one of the most overrated players in the league at this point. We will see, word is Murray has looked awful but that is coming from the one or two reporters allowed in each practice.
  11. Wow, that video took a long time to develop... Krakens would be cool
  12. I am tall and thin, 6’3”, 175 and they stay in place, the sleeve probably helps a bit. They are a 3 piece and not real bulky. I have meds. The Surgeon are the lower profile line.
  13. Have the Surgeon 3.1 elbows. Fit is nice, they stay in place, good for men’s league/pickup, if I was playing competitively I may consider the RX3 but good enough for me.
  14. There is no logic in this statement. If others don’t have data then the new player doesn’t need data? Come on... They are implying they reduce concussions, show me the evidence. I remember when people were touting concussion reducing mouthguards (there was a lady on here years and years ago making that argument) with no evidence. If you make a claim and then charge a premium, I want some data. Even data that is debatable is better than nothing, especially if the data is looked at without an agenda.
  15. Pretty sure a guy last week has AS3 customs on.
  16. I need more than “machine learning” and “advanced polymers” buzzwords to care. Show me data and I will.
  17. One of the problems is that given the math, it takes a small percentage of people to drive the number up. State by state the numbers vary widely but still on the rise most places.
  18. A very small percentage of players are good enough to benefit from custom skates, and then there are the other small percentage who just have some specific fit issues. For the vast majority of people three fits in two boots plus all the CCM offerings and True retail will provide a fit that matches their foot.
  19. So PA currently has hockey, but it is really just in-house summer league and they have lowered the number of kids per team, spread out games, limited fans, etc. Given the rise in cases and the reality of regular season hockey I'm not overly optimistic, which sucks. I would much rather have kept the summer ratcheted down and not ruined fall/winter. We'll see.
  20. That's what I originally thought, 3 fits in each of two boots, that makes sense.
  21. Their website sucks. It has the Vapor and the Supreme on the same page as information about the 3 fits. You take the quiz to determine the right skate and it lands you on the custom skate page which has Vapor and you can choose any of the 3 fits. It was good that they simplified the number of offerings a while back but now it seems like they are confusing things again.
  22. I think you are just accommodating the foot size/shape combinations across two models instead of three. For a given size you have 3 fits of Vapors and 3 fits of Supremes, correct? Or are they not doing the fit thing with the Vapors?
  23. Confused, I thought people were saying in another thread this retail one is NOT the same as the pro stock version with similar pattern name? And what I have in my mind is something more along the lines of this pic: https://www.hockeystickman.com/blogs/hockey-stick-alerts/jamie-benn-pro-stock-style-curve It looks less open than what is posted above in this thread. Could be the pic though.
  24. Seriously, what’s to “get”? Some people use 1/2” tape. They find it a bit annoying to rip rolls in half. Tape company thinks they can sell enough to make it worth their while. They sell it. Just like most products.
