For me they're just as stiff as my Bauers, but am not prohibited with forward flex. I do tie them looser than I do Bauers due to how snug they fit, but still lace up to the top eyelet. For fit, I went down 0.5 size from Bauer and while they were uncomfortable and didn't fit pre-bake, post bake they fit like comfortable sneakers. Zero issues with any hot spots or discomfort from day 1 for me. Maybe I got lucky

I, personally, prefer the same boot. One less thing to have to adjust to. That said, I also picked up a pair of TF9’s a few months back and absolutely love them

Jumped on a deal for TF9s a few months back and put the R1s on them. Having been a Bauer guy for the last decade, I see what the True hype is about. Absolutely love these skates and how they feel. Seriously contemplating buying another pair and swapping out Tuuk holders for ice. An outdoor rink near me has had steady pickup roller going on recently and now that I'm vaccinated I've been trying to drop by more often. I normally play on rough asphalt and those wheels didn't offer enough grip. Got sick of swapping all the wheels back and forth every few days so decided to pick up an extra chassis making the swap so much easier/faster!

Well I suppose this is good to know. Looks like I’ll have to pass on the deal and hope another pair comes along. Thanks for the help everyone!

Hey guys, kind of a random question but I know it’s been discussed over the years. Have the opportunity to pick up some new skates at a VERY reasonable price. Issue is they’re 1/2 size smaller than what I typically wear. They’d fit my right foot just fine, but my left foot is slightly longer so I generally size up 1/2. Finding pro stock skates in 1/4 sizes has been my ideal solution in the past. So I’m wondering if it would be possible to stretch/lengthen the left skate roughly 1/4 size? I’m aware of shops that do this in Canada but I’m in Los Angeles and would prefer to find an at home solution if there is one. Open to suggestions or recommendations. Thanks! M

I thought the price was $450-500 USD? I’m surprised at how many pros I’ve seen in this bucket already. Gotta imagine that’s a good sign and I’m hopeful that pro stock helmets will make their way out for a little cheaper. They appear to adjust in the middle like the V08 rather than the back like the Tacks 110 which is also a plus since the Tacks helmets pinch the back of my head

Agreed with the other comments that it’s all about personal preference. Same goes with using a smaller wheel up front. I, personally, kept the O1’s extremely loose when I had them

Trying to understand this. It’s not memory foam like the TF9? Is there any kind of plastic piece for protection/lace bite?

Plastic velcro tab? Are you referring to the piece that holds the tongue? Never heard of that happening, is it common with true skates?

Is there another skate brand that allows you to replace the toe cap? Any Bauer or CCM boot I’ve seen with a cracked toe cap means it’s time to buy a brand new skate

With their BOGO deal, it seems like a great way to pick up a pair of new twigs, but I haven’t actually seen any real reviews of the damn thing! Curious if anyone has actually used the stick and what their thoughts are/how it compares to other high end sticks?

True advised me that the crack in the photo would not compromise the structural integrity of the boot at all since there’s a full composite shell under the plastic overlay toe cap. They also added the rivets helped further secure the cap to the boot. So.... I’m not going to worry about it

Huh. Using that Puck Stop site, you can get the WM01 shipped the the US for £568 which is only $783 USD. Aren’t these supposed to sell for $1K+ in the US? Seems like a good way to save a few hundred bucks...

I suppose 'concerned' may not have been the right word choice. They're hockey skates so they're going to get beat up. I was just surprised by this the first game out. I understand the idea of drilling a hole to try and stop a potential spread of the crack, but I'd be weary to do that in case this becomes a problem and I have to file a warranty claim with True. Perhaps I'll contact them first so it's documented and then drill a hole. The original photo might not show this, and I'm not sure how the toe cap/boot is on pre-TF9 True skates, but there is a slight gap between the boot and the toe cap. Both boots and both sides of the toe cap is like this. It's hard plastic, but you can push it and make it flex a bit if you try. Here's a close up showing the area I'm referring to where the diagonal pattern meets the toe cap. Where the toe cap is glued/flush with the bottom of the boot is more or less where the crack started.

I recently picked up a pair of TF9 skates and had Marsblade R1's installed. They were purchased and converted from a reputable local shop that has been a True dealer for years and done tons of Marsblade conversions. Up until yesterday I had skated in them for an hour and a half or so; mostly casual skating while stickhandling just to get comfortable and see how they feel. Yesterday I played my first game in them and had zero complaints. When I got home and took them out of my bag I happen to notice a crack on the bottom edge of the toe cap. This isn't present on the other boot or other side of the toe cap. I suppose it could have been from an impact of puck or something, but that seems pretty crazy for brand new skates. The crack is just at this edge; it does not extend past that circular branding stamp or the rivet. Has anyone else experienced this? I'll keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse, but should this be a concern? Wasn't sure if this should go in the True skate thread or on it's own so feel free to move if necessary.

Grippers came in and I was able to test them out on the rink today. They hold true to their name and grip awesome! That said, the rink was also completely clean of any debris which may have contributed to some of the slide outs before. Either way, thank you guys for the recommendation. Think I found wheels for smooth concrete

Strange that you wear a FULL size difference in Bauer skates. Especially with the Vapor being the smaller of the two. Am I the only one that finds that odd? I can get away with going down a 1/2 size down in Supreme vs what I wear in Vapor due to the additional volume in the boot, but not the other way around. When you say the 7 was very snug, were you referring to pre-baking? That's how they're supposed to be. Once you bake them they should open up and mold perfectly to your foot. If you went up 1/2 a size because they felt better before baking, they're likely going to be too large on you after they're baked. Obviously everyone's feet are different but I went down a half size with the TF9s from what I wear in Vapors and they fit perfect after baking. You seem to have done the opposite. Getting the Trues on was the most difficult part (for me) compared to a traditional hockey boot. I had to undo the top one to two eyelets, push the tongue out, then do the twist thing to get my foot in. Definitely took practice not only to get my foot in, but also to lace those top eyelets once my foot was in the boot because the ankle wrap is so tight

I’ve always played on rough asphalt so I can’t comment on smooth concrete surface previously. The first set of wheels were my Labeda Asphalts that I use on, uh, asphalt. They weren’t brand new but weren’t worn down a crazy amount either. Age-wise they were only a few months old. The MPC Freestyle wheels’ first roll was on this smooth concrete so they were brand new. I ordered a set of yellow grippers online since no where nearby had both sizes in stock. I hope to have here this weekend so I can try them out Sunday or Monday and see how those perform

Reviving this post from the dead as the city has finally taken the locks off the outdoor rink and once vaccinated I'd like to begin playing more. I've used Labeda Asphalt (orange up front and white in the back) for years on asphalt before moving to MPC Freestyle during quarantine. I skated both sets of wheels on the smooth concrete outdoor surface, which is a surface I have never really played on before, and they all slide out from under me when making tight turns/hard cuts. Since those hardnesses are basically 83a, 84a, and 85a, I am looking to move to something slightly softer for added grip. Can't seem to find much info on the Konixx Tachyon, wasn't sure if the Konixx Pure +1 would be too soft for concrete, also considered Rink Rat Trickster XX or Labeda Grippers. I'm around 190lbs and at this point care more about grip than top end speed. Recommendations?

I went through exactly this a few months back. The CCM V08 was recommended to me and it fit great. Really like it so far. The Tacks 110 was also recommended and while I didn’t try that specific model, I did try the 310 and 710 and didn’t like either. They pinched the back of my head near the adjustment spot
