  1. Tyler, I have had 2 players come in with these. One Pro (NHL player) and one Minor Midget player. Both did not fit well on the new Blademaster holder as the blade was to close to the holder was not tall enough for the curves at the front and back of the holder. When I did get in a position that would sharpen consistently the steel itself was a pleasure to sharpen. As a sharpener I think there is some design work to be done to make it work better on the holders. Also no level I have goes on these to be able to make sure its a consistant level. (I have them all) As for the 2 players the PRO player didn't like them at all. Although he admitted the profile felt way off even though the guy ( who he got them from) tried to adopt his profile to them from his old blades. The younger player really liked them but couldn't explain what it was he liked, The dad just spoke to whats on the website. These were the ones I spent the most time with. With no level it took a little longer to make sure they were as straight as could be. Adjustments to sharpening I think would make it easier to push to players in retail. Another ting was the weight seemed to be a little heavier?? My 2 cents
  2. Between the NHL and AHL teams San Jose has the most players at 24. At last count according to the Asst Coach on the NHL team.
  3. Which one are you referring to?
  4. Maybe a running change in logo but thats about it for now. As for pricing if you come to Canada to buy you pay taxes and shipping. In the US its simply the price shipped. So mo advantage really buying in Canada with US dollars.
  5. I really doubt he is much removed from what he had when i worked with him I know he kept it in JR. 5/8ths
  6. Just curious where you are getting your information. St Loius and Nashville both use Blackstone Portables. NYI most of the players there are using FBV. I have to get Tavares a new wheel every time he comes home in the summer because he is always trying something new. Strome stays the same. Last summer I would say it was 60/40 ROH vs FBV in the dressing room. And with guys like Tavares and Storme on FBV it wasn't hard for other guys to ask to try it. You can google BTNL for some of the pics of the guys there. I do know Pappy on the leafs has everything in both the practice and main dressing room. He can do any cut on any machine. He is a guy for sure that is prepared for any request.
  7. So he was saying the skates make him a bad player now?
  8. Cole is on Step Steel. As for that Marlies team with Hosang and McDavid its funny about the story because it's so true. However in the final game of tge OHL cup McDavid was told he was falling because his blades were so low. I offered to switch them and match the profile. Josh said he should. But the captain said it would be bad luck. So he left them just sharpened. He fell on a break away to tie the game and his team lost in the finals. Since then he has always had fresh steel. Profiled and sharp.
  9. Actually Stick9 is correct. there are many guys have no clue of profile and or hollow. Some like to learn and some just say not to sharp or sharper. I worked with McDavid at the OHL cup and earlier on in that season and he was at 5/8ths. If he changed later in the OHL not sure?
  10. And there you have it. They have made their way to the Great One.
  11. Mastercard and Myself in Toronto. Not sure all the other ones around?
  12. Kinda confused on this post. Its not in properly. It needs to be seated better. If you warm the holder with a hair dryer and slam it on rubber it will go in but then you need to tighten it more.
  13. If you want the whole story be glad to tell yo but I wont smear the guy publicly like he did to me. Bitter yes and for a VERY valid reason.
  14. The guy that runs that shop thinks hes the second coming. good thing he got spark pretty sure its 1000% better than his job. nice rink owners a jerk as is the pro shop owner.
  15. If you really want it not Sparx vs the Pros you may want to adjust some of your ad's. They are kind of off putting.

  17. How long did it take him to Master The Art of sharpening? Pretty sure I am still learning after 30 years at it?
  18. Just curious if anyone at Sparz has ever sharpened a skate and if so what is their experience in doing so? Or did they just build the machine to try and fill a niche gap?
  19. Sorry been swamped with training at the skating lab. And VH sales and sharpening. Well from what I can see and keep knowing the way Rob dies the fits they look about 2 mm to long.... however sometimes when measurements come through they are a smidge off. If he had used a toe plug for size of feet differences (because some are large) then they may have a slight bit extra to fit the holder requested. But to be honest I didn't see the drawings the measurements the old skates the present skates so it's really hard to say!
  20. Really heat the top 4 eyelids and put a puck in there to hold the area open. You will find it much easier to put on and off. Also go to good content laces and only do up snuggly. And try one eyelid down should be able to get all the flexion you need.
