  1. Weststar in Mississauga has it and uses it on all fits. I had a customer with an odd issue. I sent him there amd it worked to fix his issue.
  2. That for sure is glue residue. Sometimes it can seep out after a baking when not there when you first see it. I can assure you that will not be an issue at all. I thought you were talking about the flap on the tendon guard that flips up to make it easier to change.
  3. You mean the material covering the tendon guard?
  4. Canada Germany game. 2nd most used skate in the game. Bauer then True then CCM.
  5. After 600 fits i can tell you 35% of my customers are on the 3rd and 4th pairs. I have maybe 10% that either decided not for them or went to another skate. I recently had an OHL player that swore X brand was the best but his feet were killing him. Mom and Dad asked if he could try my son's that he had grown out of. Coach said his skating is even better and that was his strength being he is a smaller guy. But I have other guys at that level and higher that tried them and are like no thanks. Not for everyone.
  6. One came up to get his True skates and brought his old ones that were done on Sparx as he said that's all he had. As you have pointed out. The level was off and he called me after he skated and said mine was far better but he couldn't ship his extra set back and forth because of duties which I totally understand.
  7. Do you have a friend in the area that is a Dentist and has True Skates?
  8. I never said the problem was fixed I said they added a layer to make it better. I am sure there are lots of things to make the whole skate better. | But again it all comes down to the better fit. It just is that for the majority of people. Could the whole skate cosmetically be better? Of course, I do not think anyone here (True/VH fans) said it couldn't be. Have they fitted and satisfied every client? NOPE. But....if your tendon guard breaks you can replace it. Rivets come loose they can be replaced. Blade alignment not much of an issue there. Fit pretty much spot on. So if the main fault in the skate is rivets replaced and excess glue, for the most part, I think that's not to shabby.
  9. So the grinding wheel doesn't go all the way to the end of start from the beginning of the blade on your Sparx machine?
  10. What's that? Never heard of it. Every machine i have brought there was made for 220.
  11. Power is the problem. All motors run slightly slower and therefore with out a proper converter it won't be very efficient. I do skates in Australia on a regular machine and the speed difference is huge. Never get the same finish as here in Canada. The only one that was close was the variable speed blademaster portable I believe the National team has now.
  12. Disagree on 2 points. 1. I personally am able to maintain the profile and adjust 1 time per season without rounding toes and heels. 2. Sparx and Pro sharp round the toes and heels on every sharpening therefore change the overall profile. Neither are perfect yet. So it will not maintain through the life of the blade because it shortens the life.
  13. Actually I am pretty sure it was mentioned before that it has been addressed by adding an inner layer over the carbon fiber so the rivets can dig in. And rightly pointed out by JR some shops do not have the correct size when installing or replacing rivets. And tge copper base does an excellent job flattening out tge rivets.
  14. In order for the profile to be a true 6 ft or 7ft (Sorry can't remember what has what) even according to Pro Sharp the toe needs to be taken down to match were the pro sharp profile starts. Most shops DO NOT blend the toe as you described. And even if done a little in most cases its not enough to match the starting of the quad.
  15. The Quad .5 is closet to what you have but most places dont have it. It's an 8 10 12 14. If I was to do Quads that would be my go to. Not a fan of the others at all. To much waisted blade if done properly. Most places do not blend them in the front. Pretty sure you could just order your own template as well and have them do that?
  16. My ULTA tacks are custom. And yes I'm a horrible skater but it's not even close for me. I guess to be fair I have worked with them from the beginning. My grafs are the closest in feel and performance I think. Price point is exactly the same here FYI
  17. Well "fitting well" is not custom. And after close to 600 fits with 25 customers on there 3rd pair and saying they woukd never go back to stock tells me that. That being said as mentioned above other stock fits are getting better. But i know i can tell the difference between my Ultra Tacks and True/VH
  18. Yes they fit and perform better. As they are even more comfortable than traditional skates.
  19. Sorry wasnt bashing you in particular just some of the following comments that seemed more like a lynch mob. God forbid any manufactuer actually makes a mistake. I think its just society today. Anyway I'm sure it will be taken care of.
  20. Ok. I have let this go for a fairly long time now. I understand wanting the appearance to be better i get it. I am sure it will get sorted. But in now way did the one situation with the cosmetic issue affect the performance. Tell me please (and not picking on you in particular) have CCM or Bauer remade custom skates. As in a second pair? I can tell you in my expiernece in 15 years...(at regular retail) NEVER ONCE. I am on about 600 plus fits and I have had about 10 remakes and 2 returned for me to sell as they just didnt like the skate. ( they didn't give it an honest go Or allow for adjustments). If i have a problem i cant fix Rob and his expanded team have always come through. When it comes to Bauer for example almost every right skate is misaligned compared to the left. Trigger holders come plyable and blades get loose in 3 months on high end players. Toe caps and tendon guards break. CCM has a toe cap breakage issue here in Toronto. The 4.0 holder is soft in the rear tower and flexs greatly at 6 to 8 months of high end play. Every skate has an issue. Or issues They may have a small team but from what I have seen they are growing it slowly to have the least amount if wrinkles possible. Scott even asked me ( as I have told he asks all retailers) to send pics of any we skates with any issues so they can bring it up in the weekly meetings. In closing I will just say I have never worked with a better group of hockey guys when it comes to product. Maybe the present CCM Pro Rep and back when Conner Browns and Tanner Pearsons fathers were at Bauer. Then we got straight answers and good service. Sticking with True.
