The Mite team I coach went to a tournament this weekend on the Cape. Got lit up the first game, (nerves, different format) and proceeded to play two fantastic games the following day. The fist of the two was a 9-9 tie with the lead being traded back and forth the entire game. It was one of the best games I've ever seen at this level. I couldn't be more proud of the way these kids conducted themselves and gave it their all until the final buzzer. They dropped the second game 9-7, but dominated the last few minutes and had a ton of shots. just ran out of time. Nobody got hurt, kids and parents had a great time. Can't beat it.

On a side note, it looks like the velcro that holds the tongues has been beefed up on newer versions. Looks like the same material the skate is trimmed with?

Did you measure and send in pictures of the area next to a ruler, and identify it as a trouble spot?
-
I have a co-worker who will say " Oh, that's mines" instead of mine. I cringe knowing she's talking to clients.

I don't find either example nearly as infuriating as " I seen those skates ". Every time I read that I want to punch a kitten in the face.

Only place I've seen is puckshop.com, but they mark up the price of the wheels so it negates the cheaper ($14.) shipping. Buying one Orange wheel would come to $46 from either place.

Picked up a pair of pants I had been looking for forever:

Catalogue Review 2015 STX Hockey Catalogue
Monty22 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2015 Product Catalogue Reviews
Looks to be a much more understated and better execution than the Rawlings "Jam". Those were brutal. -
I would be careful about over tightening- you could crack the composite toe box.
-
From what I can tell the bolt head has composite/plastic over it. I can feel the nut underneath if I run my fingers across the inside of the toecap.
-
Prior to ordering mine, I inquired about toe box options, this was the response: "We do apply a hard black toe coating to some of our pros' skates." Seems to be holding up pretty well.
-
Same here.

Truck bed liner may hold up better. There are a few smooth spray can options out there.

Put up the rink boards today with temps in the upper 50's. Nice change of pace from the 30-40 degree days I seem to end up with...

If you go back a few pages, there is a lot of info on the padding "settling" and leaving areas with no padding. This was one of the revisions addressed in the Mako II.

That's the width. D is "standard", C is narrow, B is very narrow. The AA is the heel width. A is standard, AA would be tighter.
-
Width/volume was my big issue as well. I made sure to indicate I would need the eyelets cut back to accommodate my low volume feet and ankles. Seems to have nailed it.

I'm going from APX to VH as well. Both are on LS holders. I don't feel like I will need shims as I did when I tried Total Ones.
-
Thanks Pathfinder. They were made by VH Footwear.

Really impressed with the fit so far. First pair of skates I can say that about since my One90's.

Took my son camping for the first time this weekend and he had a blast. He jumped right in to gathering firewood, digging the latrine and "helping" me start the fire. I'm so blessed to have a 6 year old that loves the same things I do (at least for now anyway). We went with one of my buddies and his son. They are the same age and get along great. I've known Dave since kindergarten, and now our kids are friends. Makes me feel old, but not necessarily in a bad way.

Truck bed liner would probably be more durable.
