  1. Sorry to hear it. I don't know anyone in the industry that hasn't been nailed at least once.
  2. Sold my gold strat that just never sounded anywhere near as good as it looked and then bought a Mesa Roadster. Four channels of 100 watt mayhem and madness on the way.
  3. FBV spinners are symmetrical, it shouldn't matter. I put the number up.
  4. There are probably ten times as many 59 replicas floating around as there are originals. Some of them are fantastic; Yarron, Max, Derrig, etc...
  5. Sales sucked on the Les Paul, that's why they were discontinued. Funny thing is that Les demanded that they take his name off the SG style. Gibson makes the Midtown as a chambered semi-hollow. They're actually a lot cheaper than the laminated models. CNC routers make it a lot less labor intensive than a generation ago.
  6. The new stuff is build as well as anything they have ever made, especially the Historics. If they still had access to Brazillian Rosewood or old growth Honduran Mahogany, those would be even better than the old ones. Nobody can hear the difference between multiple piece bodies and since piece bodies. There is more variation from one piece of wood to the next than you will get from joining the wood. Hell, 335s are multiply lamination, and always have been. I don't agree with everything they did in the Norlin era but the multipiece necks and volutes addressed the neck breakage issues pretty well. Unfortunately, purists don't care about anything other than the specs being different from the holy grail 59s.
  7. I had three deluxes and paid $300, $500 and $500 for them in the early to mid 90s. I see people getting $2500 now for ones like the 73 that I had. Honestly, the new ones play and sound better than most of those old ones anyway. I don't understand paying as much for them as you would for a new standard. I have a 2011 traditional pro that is outstanding. All I have done is upgrade to orange drop caps because the ceramics were not right.
  8. I have a 76 Les Paul Deluxe with a maple neck. I've owned it almost 20 years and never had to adjust the truss rod. A lot of the purists hate them but they are great workhorses.
  9. TGP is "The Gear Page", a website discussing high end gear, Robben Ford and Mustang Sally.
  10. Women at that age don't usually want a good person, regardless of what they say.
  11. They were supposed to make a decision on the job I want by today, hoping the contract negotiations with the union conflicted and they were not able to make a decision yet.
  12. my two cents, not that anyone asked for them but.... if you say that a kid has to do something or something bad will happen, you have to follow through. If you don't follow through, you lose credibility. However, my parents often sprung negative surprises on me and I ended up resenting them for it for a very long time. If you are going to withhold something, they should at least have a heads up about it. Something like "if you want to do X, you better do Y" seems like fair warning to me. Now for my petty vent: damn is it cold. If I complain about the heat this summer, I authorize anyone on this site to give me a good kick in the pants.
  13. 3/8 - 100/75 5/8 - 90/75 It stays in the same "family" of x/75 hollows
  14. I usually dress for every pair, or for every skate if I have to fix a lot of problems on the steel. More consistent speed and pressure should reduce/eliminate the waves. A finishing product like an oil or wax on the last pass will also help.
  15. It didn't help that he had an immature star making his job much more difficult.
  16. No, I don't. As much as I like Eddie, he was not good as a head coach.
  17. He's used to doing Devils games, you have to find some way to amuse yourself when you have to watch that 82 times a year.
  18. I was surprised that it wasn't mentioned before, but then I remembered that I'm on the older side of the average age, On topic: he was one funny man.
  19. The government is starting to crack down on that a bit. Way too many companies have been trying to use them as free labor instead of a learning experience.
  20. Parents like that are the worst part of youth sports. Obviously passing to the other kids will keep his son from making the NHL.
  21. It had devolved pretty badly. I'm willing to leave this one open for a while to see if it can remain productive.
  22. Hopefully today was the final insult from the company. I'm on the verge of breaking.
