  1. The Barkov fits in well between those two indeed. I think it's the perfect compromise. It also fits well between at P92 and P88 too, which is why I think it will be a very popular curve. A P92/P88/P14/BC27 hybrid, hahaha
  2. Haha that's exactly why I think it would work for more people. It's less extreme and easier for p88 or p92 users to switch from if they want try something towards a toe curve. Also I think it will be the jack of all trades type toe curve: great for backhands, big sweet spot for shooting, 5 lie, slightly open, deep enough pocket to really take advantage of the toe curve and good amount of rocker without being to extreme like the Kovalev.
  3. Base Kovalev- but I really wish it was the old slightly lower curve It doesn't seem like they are workin on anything or at least nothing I've seen or heard about. It's kinda a shame because it seems like they've deserted this thread and the good work they started. The Benn curve is kinda cool, but really not that different from a p92 (I know it hasn't the toe kink) personally I think the Barkov pro about would be a smarter add to their line up as it fills a hole and gives a new very useable option to a big market of p88/92 users.
  4. I'm using a 95 6.0 and thinking about picking up an 85 and maybe ordering a couple more blades.
  5. Thanks for that. Seems to be confirming my initial thoughts. Maybe a True shaft and Base blade is the way to go......
  6. and not playing his best again.........
  7. Thats what I thought too (not that I've shot with the SN). Weird that they list the Supernatural as a low-mid then......
  8. Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone can give me some feedback regard flex point on the Base Supernatural? I was under the impression this was a mid flex stick, more inline with a Supreme series flex point but on the website it states the Supernatural is a "Low-Mid". When I think of a low-mid stick I'm thinking of a Tacks or True A-series or maybe even a True X-series which slightly lower than true mid. How would you compare the Supernatural kick point to the above sticks or is it more of a true mid like a supreme series? @MrData any thoughts?
  9. I can't say 100% from those pictures, but it looks like the resin coating over the carbon has been scratched, probably by a skate blade. If that is the case or even if it's damaged the top layer of carbon, it really shouldn't be an issue. If it really bothers you, buy some resin and fill in the scratch. It's cheap and easy to do yourself.
  10. Very cool! I'd love to have something like this made up. What material did you use?
  11. Opps, you beat me too it with the profile pic. Makes sense it's a lower lie as he uses an long stick
  12. Looks pretty user friendly to me (although I haven't used one personally, I'm RH)
  13. I might be on an island by myself here but I would love to see something like the Pro Barkov curve from Base. I feel like it's fairly unique curve which would be very user friendly and a great transition curve (coming from a P88 or p92) for people wanting to try an easy playing toe curve.
  14. Are you saying the top edge of the cuff is digging in (the area Bauers have their comfort edge)? If that is the area, just heat it up and bend it out slightly (away from your ankle). If thats not the area, maybe I'm just not understanding, but a picture would probably help a lot. I had the VH metatarsal tongues on my skates originally and didn't like them at all. The had a really thick plastic guard running the whole way down the front tongue, which made them very stiff and restricted forward flexion. They also weren't as comfortable as the straight felt option either.
  15. Personally I didn't like the spongy-ness of the VH soles (not sure how they compare to the True sole). When I popped in my custom Sidas soles (with the red) the whole skate felt better, more of a 360 degree fit. Each to their own I guess.
  16. Was down at my LHS (True dealer) this afternoon and they had a sample player and goal skate, but still waiting on their display. I liked the new tongue and tendon guard much better than the old and the new holder seemed decent, but I found new True skates more bulky than my lesser polished VH's. Maybe it was because these weren't baked yet, which would contour the ankle area a lot more?
  17. I don't see the steel available for Edge holders, is that due to the patent Bauer holds? If so thats a huge shame, I'd love to see how these compare to my Black Step steel.
  18. I went from using the True A-series to using the Nasty OPS and True shaft with a Base tapered blade and found the same issues as you did. The Base stick or combo definitely opens up more when shooting which does effect shot velocity but I found hurt my shot accuracy more so.
  19. I don't remember ever seeing on the website or CS that Base blades are specifically designed for Base shafts before. Having used around 9 or 10 Base tapered blades in various shafts I am very use to the "normal" Base gap, but like I said my Kovalev blade has a much larger gap on one side (see below). The blade was like this from the day I got it. It's obviously used now but it hasn't chipped away or anything, this is how it looked when I put it in new. Personally I think this is a quality control issue, but I'm not going to cause a fuss as I don't want to through the hassle of sending it back etc. I really like Base as a company and think it has a solid place in the market, however I really do think there is a few small things holding it back. Personally I'm way more focused on the results of a product over the way it looks (Base and VH user) but I do feel Base is reputation is hurting due to lack of polish and marketing. I understand completely that none of that is your fault @MrData.
  20. Despite mine having a large gap on one side (where the blade inserts into the shaft) it feels solid and works well. I do think this is something Base should clean up though. Sure it still works but it looks like crap and for a new-ish up and coming company it doesn't help their reputation when someone first receives thier long awaited custom stick or when friends are checking out Base for the first time. The little things do matter......
  21. It's similar but not the same. I was told you would likely need to enlarge a couple of holes to go from Edge to Step holders.
  22. Very cool, nice to see info on this system. I wish I could get this locally.
  23. Pretty certain they pay a commision (based on buying mine from a fit centre). No idea what percentage that is but since the LHS isn't carrying stock they don't have to invest heavily into carrying the skates either.
  24. I had my skates sharpened from this machine and I got to say I am very impressed. Very coefficient!
  25. Yes, I'm pretty sure you can. The stretch mesh doesn't look like it will do a lot, as once you have your shell on it will pull the tailbone section in anyways.
