  1. I'm trying to help my wife find a new cage. She tried on a bunch of small and medium cages, and didn't love the way anything fit because she has a weird face (her words not mine). She randomly tried on an old bauer fm4500 I had lying around, and she liked it. I found a few floating around on the internets, so the simple and obvious answer is to just buy one of those. But, I also found cages labeled fm5100 and fm7500. Does anyone know how those two, the fm5100 and fm7500 compared to the fm4500? Were they different shapes all together or different bar design or placement? She's currently in an old ass reebok 4k helmet with whatever cage came with that. She just bought a Tacks 710, but can't find a cage that she likes how it fits with the helmet.
  2. I kinda love the identifier of having a bunch of weird black scrape marks on your car ceiling as being a “hockey car.” And, if anyone sees them they are probably lying on their back in my car, and then I’m like “yeah those are from hockey sticks. Let me tell you about my adult league stats.” BAM magic time.
  3. If you keep going back to the Warrior bag as your comparison, and you know you really liked it, why not get another one of those? And, if the only problem with your old bag is that the pockets ripped out, can you just resew them? Yeah, you’ll have stitches on the outside of your bag, but who cares? It actually might be kinda cool in a Gary Cheevers sorta way.
  4. I defer to people who have more inside knowledge, but do average consumers pay attention to if pro players use the lace lock on their skates? It would have been such a smallish percentage of players in RBK skates anyway, and the minutia to zoom into high def pics to see if Matt Duchesne uses the lace lock seems like a lot of work. I would assume they were just an extra cost that most people didn’t care about, and it was easy to cut out of the manufacturing process.
  5. That lace lock is my #1 hockey tech that disappeared that I’d love to bring back.
  6. Wow, I feel like Graf hugely missed the boat by not making that number fit data more easily accessible. That seems like a level or retail dialing-in that people might have loved. Instead, I feel like their marketing was more like, “well, our QC isn’t all that bad.”
  7. But it is custom!! CCM catalogue shows you can buy after market earloops and matching helmet stickers........... 🙄💰💰💰
  8. People were saying it would be the price of a flagship stick. This is more like the price of a high-mid tier skate. Or a car payment.
  9. Can you provide proof of that? If there’s an article or something about it, I’m not sure what to search to find it.
  10. I hear you on this. Bought a 310 M after trying it on in the store, but wore it while reading for half an hour and felt like it was pinching at the temples. I didn’t even try a L in store because the M felt so good.
  11. Hey, I wear the 4500 because it looks good. (I buy prostock sticks because I’m cheap.)
  12. Were these actively in production recently, or is the certification date going to be 2017? (ive read mixed things about whether that certification date even matters, but I figure it can’t hurt.)
  13. Are the Bauer Pulse runners a new formulation of steel from their previous offerings, or is it essentially the same steel but taller with a quad profile?
  14. Bring back the classic “squares” logo or gtfo.
  15. Does anyone but a bunch of equipment nerds care what type of steel skates sell with at retail? Most people can’t be bothered to figure out what hollow they skate on.
  16. Is the V08 still available at retail at all? Did it evolve into anything?
  17. The arms race for stiffest skate is kind of bizarre. No one really asked for it. At least with lighter stick you can argue a performance benefit for carrying 5 fewer grams (I guess🙄). They are convincing consumers that a stiffer skate is better, and evidence seems to be to the contrary. Yes, a stiffer composite skate is better than a floppy leather skate with zero support, but we are way past diminishing returns there.
  18. I bought what were advertised as 8.5 skates, but were actually 9.0. Tag was worn down, but holder was 280. My return on SS was no problem, but seller didn’t try to fight it and owned his mistake. Were there cm tag pics visible in the listing? That might be your only sticking point.
  19. Do the roller Trues have any sort of reinforced outsole, or is it just a roller chassis riveted in place of the ice holder?
  20. The name of the quad vs eclipse profiles being off by roughly 1, plus the fact that the quad .5 was “half way” between 1 and 2, makes me think that maybe they should take an extra few days to review their naming processes before they start marketing them.
  21. For half that price I will bedazzle any glove you send me, and I’ll cover shipping both ways.
  22. Kinda worried that if True gets away with it, these two will pick it up as a cost saving measure. I feel like average consumers are so half-assed about fitting their skates correctly as is, if companies make it so 1/2 boots fit a little sloppy, not enough people are going to notice to make it an issue in sales numbers. (I am also pessimistic “sky is falling” about any changes to equipment haha)
  23. Did this photo load for anyone? I just see a blank white rectangle. This sorta reads similar to the conversations from a few months ago about the 1/2 sizes and full sizes being being almost the same and they pad out one of them.
  24. Wear those wrestling ear flaps under your hockey helmet, and then a motorcycle helmet over your hockey helmet. I cannot understand why USA hockey and the NHL have not mandated this. I can only assume they are getting back door payments from head injury doctors (like Charliestooth?!?!). Until we can get big healthcare to quit profiting from player injuries, there’s actually no institutional incentive to make any serious changes and protect players.
