I remember a post a while back talking about making small repairs to blades... the solution was, in fact, epoxy BUT some chimed in that adding some sort of graphite powder helped things bond and strengthen. I'm obviously only giving the cliffs notes but the ones in that original thread were engineers, or at least spoke as if they knew what they were actually talking about 😂 EDIT: Not sure if this is the thread I was thinking of but this one explains the process a little:

I believe the W90 is the same as a P90/P92/P29, the P90T is not the same, it's a variation of a P90 with the toe being slightly different. The P90TM is also not the same as the P90 or P90T just to make it all a little more confusing, it has a different blade shape and slightly different curve closer to a P28 than a P90/29/92. Lastly, Pro Stock Hockey doesn't always know what they're selling as I've bought two Tyson Jost sticks and each was listed differently, one as a P28 and one as a P71 (and when I emailed for clarification on the second stick they replied telling me it was a P92), yet both were identical and both were P90TM's once I got them, sooo yea I wouldn't trust them too much.

Bauer Profile Cages - differences

I thought the chin cup looked a little awkwardly placed, I thought it almost looked too high, but also it could be the different bar design in that area that's throwing me off lol -
Bauer Profile Cages - differences

The new ones actually look different than the facelift Profile II and the existing Profile III, looks like it protrudes further than the OG shape and also comes down lower st the bottom, or maybe the second from bottom horizontal bar is at a different angle and gives that illusion. I did just get my OG profile II I ordered (for about $30 shipped on SLS), unfortunately it's white and I thought it would be grey, but it has never been used so will be a replacement for whenever one of mine gets too rusty. -
I'm the same way, I can tell the R has the rounded corners when I compare side by side bare handed but aside from that, once I'm playing and have gloves on I don't notice much of a difference, def not as drastic as T or R to an E like the Ribcors have.

**SOLD** Selling a Pro Stock Super Tacks X helmet I just got since my head just isn't made for these lol (the small was too tight and the medium feels too big, the 910 small is perfect on my head so I'll stick with those). Black size medium, pro stock so no side CCM badging or stickers on back. Helmet is in great shape, no cracks or anything, just cosmetic surface scuffs from normal use. I wore it for one game, it was worn before I got it but it doesn't seem to be very used. I'll throw in a set of 910 ear guards if the buyer wants them, also I have a grey Bauer Profile II cage or Titanium colored Profile III in large I can include for an additional $10. Asking $150 PLUS shipping in US, open to interesting trades as well, can deliver to SummerJam. I second the girdle option. If you can find a Super tacks girdle that might be great, they tend to run a little on the narrow side but have length adjustable legs so you might be able to get the length you need from a size small which should be good in the waist. If you have pants you like then there's still a bunch of brands that make suspenders that attach, most shops prob have a few lying around collecting dust since they sort of went out of popularity in the 90's.
-
Did they blend/grind down the toe/heel at at on the Step? I know it's super chunky and can feel longer if left as-is, I'm sure your old steel is worn down front/back from sharpening and also was never as squared off as Step is. That's all I can think of since the sharpening should feel the same, the better steel will hold that edge better but it should feel the same.
-
Did you get them profiled at all? Not sure if stock Step is same profile as stock speedblade but the profile can play a part in the way an edge feels. Aside from that, the hollow should feel the same on both, so the other variable is maybe they didn't sharpen at the ROH you requested (this happened to me a few weeks ago, had to go back and get them re-done).

I used goof off since it was in the garage and was the first thing I saw, it did the trick. Unfortunately I also noticed I cracked the blade on my favorite stick last night 👎 back of the blade almost top to bottom, I went for a rebound and had 2 sticks on my blade as I tried with all my might to get a shot off, guess my blade took the worst of that. Now off to find another LX Pro with a P90TM curve, needle in a haystack lol, if anyone has any Tyson Jost pro stocks laying around hit me up lol
-
ok, used it last night.... So, it was easy to apply, anyone who has spray painted anything will know what to do, takes a few seconds. It does give a shiny wet looking finish to the blade where there's no tape (I use white tape on the last 1/3 of the toe, might make black tape shiny too?). Does definitely smell like maple syrup which, as we all found out, gets old FAST... we were in a huge locker room and it smelled real strong, like way too strong, can't imagine how it would be in a typical tiny locker room. Performance wise... personally, I didn't care for it, I felt like the puck was sliding off my stick a lot more than usual. I let a teammate use it as well and he was saying the same thing. As for the snow build up, it did seem to prevent snow from sticking as much as normal wax, it would fall off with a quick wave/smack of the blade against the boards where as with wax I'd have to wipe with a glove and would sometimes have some ice build up. I'm thinking the snow/ice preventative characteristics may have played a part in the negative puck grip since it was almost creating a more wet outer surface while keeping the actual tape dry (just a theory). So one game was enough for me to make my decision, I'm going back to classic Howies wax. Now I need to find out how to get this all off my blade, I'm thinking maybe some rubbing alcohol since they say sanitizer w/ alcohol is the best way to get it off your hands.
-
if it helps, here's what the can says: "Non-Drying, inherently tacky aerosol engineered for ice hockey. Increase grip on the puck while repelling ice build up" I'll let you know how it does tonight. My friend who had it last game said it helped with her snow on the blade, we do play in some pretty terrible rinks and the snow build up get pretty bad by the 2nd period, by the third you'd need a heated blade to keep it off completely.

The one I posted above, here's the link to the product page: https://sticksyrup.com/collections/syrup

The site had them for $11.99/ea, I picked up a two pack which was slightly discounted at $20.99 (figured get my shipping cost's worth lol). Shipping was Priority and wasn't terrible, no additional handling charges or anything. Oddly enough, the "unscented" option was $3 more than the maple syrup one, I found that kind of strange, maybe they just didn't produce as much and their cost was more. The age old question lol, I have high hopes since at the very least I know it'll make things smell better haha

As a person with 2 mini Australian Shepherds who seem to shed 4x their body weight every single day, I know I'll be in for it 🤣 I don't bring my sticks indoors, they stay in the garage, but as any pet owner knows, their fur goes wherever it pleases. It claims to repel ice build up. I got my shipment today and have a game tonight so I'll give my sticks a fresh tape job and try this stuff out./

Anyone ever heard of, or use Stick Syrup? It's a spray on wax (or wax alternative?). My teammate had it last game and it caught my attention.... honestly it smelled like maple syrup from across the rink so there was no way to avoid it 😂 Being a maple syrup lover I had to order a can for myself to test it out, should be here soon. From what I could tell, it's a spray that stays tacky, it's supposed to repel water like wax but give a sticker finish for better puck control. I normally use Howies wax so I'm curious to see how this compares. It's a little more expensive than Howies (ok maybe double) but only time will tell how long a can lasts vs a tin of wax. Once I get the spray and test it out I'll report back. Also pretty sure they're based in MA not far from Boston so maybe we can get them to come to Summer Jam. https://sticksyrup.com/

Bauer Profile Cages - differences
xstartxtodayx replied to xstartxtodayx's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I was thinking the "3" is the Titanium one which is the lightweight model, looks to be the same shape as the "2" which looks a lot like the current "Profile III" or even the re-shaped "profile II", but then again it's hard to tell when you're not comparing side by side (esp when factoring in cage size, a medium will always look different than a large and I can't tell what sizes they were wearing in the video). I'm curious to see them in person and compare side by side, until then I did find another OG Profile II for a steal on SLS so at least I'm covered for a while lol. -
That blacked out one is damn sexy. I agree with Sniper9, the red in the FT6 Pro is way better than the FT4 Pro was... I'm guessing they did the FT4 so bold so it really stood out on TV, there was no mistaking what skate that was, even with a shot blocker on it most times, which I'm sure helped their marketing, but man it's a tough look for us beer leaguers to pull off.

Bauer Profile Cages - differences
xstartxtodayx replied to xstartxtodayx's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I'm 100% honest when I say I'm vain and the cage has to pass the mirror test 😂 Also the thing for me, and why I started wearing the Profile II a ways back, was the fit. In CCM I was between a medium and a large, had to wear a large since the medium was too short but had to flip the top clips and it still just looked massive, with the Profile II the large is the perfect height for me, so when they tweak the shape it always slightly changes the fit and I get super picky. -
Bauer Profile Cages - differences
xstartxtodayx replied to xstartxtodayx's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I'm curious if the new one is actually Titanium or just Titanium colored like the Profile III, the one I have was Titanium colored but is definitely NOT titanium lol, makes sense why the price was the same as the other colors. Color wise I'm fine with the titanium, the i2 with the white inside, or the silver (which is more grey), I don't care for the all black, that one stands out for me. Also weight wise, I notice the lightness of the Reakt when I'm holding it but once I put it on and get on the ice I don't notice any difference whatsoever, the difference in weight is so minimal in reality. -
I remember reading about the different Profile cages in various topics but couldn't find where it discussed the differences in profile II cages so here goes: I've used Profile II cages for a long time, have had probably 6 or 7 over the years, also tried various CCM cages, an FV1 bubble, a Profile III, and a Reakt Ti cage (not to mention the old Jofa bubble cages and Itechs I had in the 90's), but the Profile II has always been my favorite since the large size fits my face the best and I like the shape and how it looks. In one thread discussing cages someone mentioned they changed the shape somewhere along the line, well I just learned whoever said that was 100% correct. My guess is somewhere between 2017 and 2022 is when the change occurred (my newest cage had a 2017 sticker and the brand new one I just got has a 2022 sticker and is very different). The "new" Profile II cage is a little shorter and extends away from the face much more, it's more similar to the Profile III shape, and is more pronounced when the helmet and cage are on, I personally hate it. The "new" Profile II also has flatter bars similar to the Profile III, the old round ones never bothered me so I don't see any benefit in this. Compared to the Reakt, the Profile III is a similar shape but a little boxier, the Reakt curves closest to the face but is shorter/smaller than the OG Profile II which has the best combination of curve and size imo. Not sure if anyone else cares but I'm a little razy when it comes to some stuff lol, I tried to get some side by side shots for comparison... left to right is OG Profile II, "new" Profile II, Profile III, Reakt Ti: Untitled by Jon Schusteritsch, on Flickr OG vs New Profile II: Untitled by Jon Schusteritsch, on Flickr New one on red 910, OG one on white 910: Untitled by Jon Schusteritsch, on Flickr Untitled by Jon Schusteritsch, on Flickr So that's all I have, not much of a question other than observations. So if anyone has a hook uo on OG Profile II's send them my way lol, I have a new one and a Profile II I'm never going to use (currently going to give the Reakt another try).

Anyone try the Powerfly holders yet?
xstartxtodayx replied to pucks_putts's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I just saw that with custom orders you have the option to get LS or Powerfly, I'm guessing many custom users aren't sold on the new holder just yet so they want to make sure they're happy. Also noticed they dropped the Tuuk branding on the holder, or maybe it's just smaller and hidden now? Personally I think if they dropped the branding completely it would be a big mistake, kind of like when CCM dropped the Tacks model name. -
You guys are a bad influence. Someone I know had a medium Super Tacks X helmet FS and I picked it up for $150, hopefully sizing up fits better than the small I had originally tried.
-
I had a pro stock one I got for under $200 but, unfortunately, found out they run noticeably smaller than the 910's which share the same shell (I'm a small 910 and have it adjusted about half way, in the Tacks X I was all the way out as big as it could go and barely squeezed in). I tried mine out and squeezed into it for one skate and it felt great as far as weight and airflow, I just wish It was a little bit bigger (I had the hex pattern pressed onto my head for quite some time afterwards 🤣). I'd still love one but most I see are in the $250+ range which is more than I'm willing to spend, I'll stick to my 910's for now.

To those who have DIY D3O on their equipment...
xstartxtodayx replied to Westside's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
The Tacks line has D3O right on the inside of the plastic shell dead center on the knee. Personally I felt it did nothing when I used some Super Tacks shins 4ish years ago. The biggest issue with modern retail shins is the lack of actual padding around the knee on the liner, the donut area is seriously lacking compared to how they made them some 30 years ago and how pro stock pads are. Once I switched to pro stock pads with the old school liners I never had an issue anymore, the extra thick padding on the donut makes a world of difference. If it were me and I wanted to add more knee protection I'd find an old set of pro stock liners, or maybe just a set of old retail liners, and make that donut thicker with a nice dense foam.
