  1. I know some of the Nexus stuff was also labelled as "Pro Series", the gloves and shoulder pads looked almost identical to Nexus but the shoulders were all black (and all white before that I think). Maybe they have a shun guard under "pro series" too? I know the elbow pads were only sold in Europe and pro stock only over here (the elbows were more of a Supreme design that was beefed up). Might be worth a search if you really liked that style.
  2. One other thing to realize... not all helmets are the same shape. I love my Tacks 910 and wore V08's and 4500's before that, all are made for oval shaped heads. I tried a Resistance/710 and one of the Bauer IMS models but they were too round and never felt good on my head. So finding the right shape is a big help... with that said, the Tacks 910 is extremely comfortable and has basic adjustability but there are some Bauer models which offer the traditional front/back adjustment as well as a side to side adjustment (I had to get one of those for my son since he had a big old round head and everything else hurt lol, I just checked and its a Reakt 150 so that might be worth a look).
  3. yea, as Monty said, pretty easy. I've used a seam ripper and x-acto but the x-acto is actually the easier of the two since you're usually going in a tighter area and can just slice the stitch from the top with the x-acto. Just kind of spread the rolls apart where the shot blocker is sewn in and examine before you start cutting, you can usually tell pretty easily what to cut and just go little by little (the outside attachment is usually easier since it's not hidden as much).
  4. This was going around yesterday: Kaprisov's cut tongues. I mean, I guess it would increase mobility a little bit just seems kind of pointless to me.
  5. Probably all comes down to the rink and league's insurance policies. My league plays in about 10-12 rinks so when one rink makes a stink about something the league has to notify all of the teams (usually something more like beer in the locker room/parking lots but a couple years ago it was about helmet straps and needing them to be buckled, also they tried the "no tilting visors up" thing one time which lasted for about 3 weeks).
  6. A teammate of mine had one a seasopn or two ago, wore it for maybe 3 games then went back to a normal cage. He didn't like the way it looked and didn't feel like he got any benefit out of it. I also just saw another in the wild the other night and yea, it's def ugly and stands out.
  7. All we're missing now is a Virginia Tech Stick Flex study using incomplete half assed methods 🤣
  8. I think it all depends on the league and what rules they follow. Our league here is a modified USA Hockey rules, so we don't follow all of their rules, as far as helmets and cages you just have to have a helmet with face protection of some sort, could he a half shield tilted up, or a full cage, just as long as whatever straps are present are snapped in. I've never seen anyone check a helmet certification in my 43 years of life, pretty sure as long as it's a name brand from the past 30 years no one will think twice (I see a few old HT2's still but I'm sure if anyone tried using a Gretzky Jofa one they would stop them).
  9. Oh wow, I had a slide board thing back in the 90's when it was an "as seen on TV" product for like $50... looks like they've come a ways lol, would actually love one like that now. That other one looks amazing but a bit pricey for me. I have nothing of value to add but am curious to see if anyone else has experience with them too.
  10. I've got a teammate who wears one, I think it might be a goalie one that's modified but not sure: and also played against a guy with one of the old college style ones that have no chin cup (you see some interesting old gear in the over 40 divisions lol): edit: I see he actually does have a chin cup of some sort,I've played with other guys who had a similar cage with no chin cup just a chin strap) I've also seen a couple other variations of the college style one over the years but don't have any pics of them I can easily find.
  11. good luck. They're not only hard to find but when they do pop up they're expensive. I would create a favorite search on sidelineswap and that way you can get notified if one pops up, other than that maybe just keep checking ebay. If you join the gear exchange on here there's a gear wanted section, otherwise sports2k has a gear wanted area but I've found many of those members are younger so not sure how great the response would be for an item that's older than most of those members lol.
  12. yea, but in the grand scheme of things, cutting 3-4" off a stick is not going to make a noticeable different for 99.9999% of users and if they say it does I call BS. Where you place your bottom hand will also play a part in the bend/flex and during the course of a game you prob won't have that hand in the exact same position for every shot. So what I'm saying is the OP (and many of us) are putting way too much thought into the minute difference of a stick's flex after trimming a few inches off the top. I think the OP just needs to experiment with some different brands and kickpoints to find something that feels good to him, there really is no right/wrong stick for a person, just a matter of preference.
  13. I think you're thinking about the numbers too much lol... as Cavs said, different kickpoints will perform and feel different compared to a stick of the same flex with a different kickpoint, also one brand's 75 might feel different than another's 75. Trimming a couple inches off won't change the flex drastically (I don't put much faith in those #'s on the back of some shafts), I used to trim almost 4" off my sticks but now I'm down to about 2" off the top, I've never noticed the flex feeling different. The one thing that has stood out to me regarding flex is how some makes/models feel stiffer than others. Warrior, for whatever reason always feels a little more flexy than CCM. I've also used some 70 flex pro stock sticks, I know Warrior makes them and I'm pretty sure I've seen some CCM's as well, just have to start browsing SLS or PSH and see what you can come up with, once you find a player with specs you like then you try your best to find his sticks, sometimes it works out and sometimes you fall in love only to find that guy switched specs along the line or is impossible to find lol.
  14. My guess would be to cut a bubble, looks like a DIY type deal. There's a special way to cut plastics like that and keep it looking nice, I don't know how so I wouldn't try it lol
  15. looking at a few pics they look similar but the plastic looks like it might be thicker... the front half that overlaps doesn't appear to sit as flush and something about the ear area looks off. Protection wise, well there is hardly any, so I wouldn't wear one to actually play anything.
  16. I've been staring at more photos than I'd like to admit and it appears they put some fabric over parts and the shot blockers were a quick way to cover the majority of the backhand. The red on the upper thumb doesn't cover everything but it's close enough. I'm sure they give them some leeway after trades to get things to match. As for the color combos, I feel like gloves had more personality back in the day with more combos, now everything seems so plain, you hardly ever see any more than 2 colors on a team's gloves now. The Flyers gloves with the white cuff is the best new one I've seen in a while since it has some pop to it.
  17. These Tarasenko gloves... all I have to say is Cass Marques did a hell of a job to get these to resemble NYR gloves. From what I can tell he covered the rolls and top of thumb in red, added the white on the index finger area, and swapped a Quicklite cuff on there, should hold him over til CCM can make some in NYR colors for him. Someone in the PHEW FB group mentioned he's very particular with this old model glove and still uses the old Reebok green liners that CCM has stashed away just for him lol curious to see how long it takes til he gets a new set.
  18. That's interesting, I even found CCM SB4.0 blades from icewarehouse branded as JRZ DLC Black, but everything looks like Step. I know CCM bought Step so not sure how JRZ fits into it, I'm curious though.
  19. gloves? sticks? pants? If pants I'm pretty sure sizing is the same but can vary model to model (or even between levels in same model line at times).
  20. There's a handful on sidelineswap right now, you can prob still find pro stock versions if they're still making them for teams, same way V08's were "available" via pro stock even though they weren't sold retail for years (then somehow ended up at Dicks last year in a helmet/cage combo which I still can't figure out lol, must've been old dead stock since the cages were ones I don't think they've made in a long time). Just saying, if you really like that helmet you can find it with a little work.
  21. I always used to be a Bauer skate guy but switched to CCM a few years ago and they fit my foot much better. Sticks I flip flop between CCM and Warrior, if it was easier to find a P90TM in Warrior I'd prob use them more (I have one pro stock Jost Warrior with a P90TM and it's my favorite). Protective I've tried a lot of stuff but for whatever reason CCM seems to be what I go with... I love their HG12 gloves, shin pads I've always been a Jofa style guy since I was a kid so pro stock CCM works for me. I tried Vapor shoulders but they didn't sit right on me, currently using a modified Tacks with 20K caps (and had CL and RBZ before that). Elbows I go between Tacks and Supreme UltraSonics, I can't make up my mind. I wear a Super Tacks girdle and a 9K before that, I tried a couple Bauer ones but that wrap nonsense wasn't for me and they always felt underwhelming in the protection category. CCM helmets I prefer because their oval models fit well and I hate the way Bauer helmets look (the all important mirror test lol).
  22. I'd be curious to see. I know the ones I've bought back in 2016 are the same as the last one I got a year or so ago (after buying a profile III and hating it and going back and forth on a Titanium reakt which just doesn't look right to me lol). I've had it in white, grey, and oreo over the years, other than looking the best it fits my face the best... a large profile II is right between a medium and a large CCM cage which is just right.
  23. 2.5 sizes is pretty average for skate size down from sneaker size, I'm a 10 and wear 7.5 but could fit a 7 in some models. As for the brand loyalty... back in the day Bauer was always the standard cut and CCM's ran wider, so I was always a Bauer person, but I think once the Vapor came out they started having more cuts and then today each brand has all these different fit profiles so it's anyone's guess lol, I switched to CCM a few years back and found they work better for me, also I love their XS holder. Glad you found something you liked and worked best for you.
  24. The Profile II is still the same, they released a Profile III which has a different (more ugly) shape and slightly different shaped bars (shape wise it's closer to the Reakt Ti cage which sticks out farther uo top and has an odd angle at the bottom). The Profile II is still the best one out there imo, wish they released a titanium version of it.
  25. An pics of the name bar? My first guess was one is a Team stick one one a retail but if you're saying you got them both at retail that wouldn't make sense (the FT3 Team ones were only pro stock, not like the newer "team" models sold at retail, but then again the FT3 Team stocks all said Team on them as well). The rounded C shaft shape is an option for custom sticks as is the blade texture, which is why I was thinking one might not be a standard retail model.
