Kuchs skates look like they have so much volume.. too much volume for him. But that's just by looking at them.

Just saw this now even though it was released in May.

The parts of the true skates that are thermoformable aren't completely carbon. The areas that are (heel lower part of the boot/sole) went very thermoformable and require clamps and spot heating (higher heat than baking) to manipulate. Also, blades take a lot of beating, something that a thermoformable material may not be able to withstand while keeping overall weight down.

Not sure about how the base blades are now but when I used base when they first came out they blades lasted forever. Never has one break on me for ice hockey. Only time it got soft etc was during roller hockey which is inevitable.

I personally like the speed plates. They are Bauer yes. I have them in my true skates. Had them in my as1s too. I won't go back to any other insoles. I just love how custom they are and that they are remouldable over and over again.

Don't know much about the sidas. Can't u re form them or is it one shot and done when u first get them? I'm a fan of speed plates bc u can re mould them over and over if ur arch changes (which they do) depending on the season, how much time you're on the ice, how much time you're bare foot etc.

Speedplates.. baking ur skates won't change the sole of ur skates if the issue is in ur arch

Definitely not something that happens or should be happening. Never had this issue ever. Probably a defective set or whoever is sharpening them are ruining them somehow.

I like to compare it to a custom suit. You still have to have fittings after the suit is made for adjustments, whether it's bc your personal preference is to have a tighter or looser during garment etc.

Also everyone has their personal preference on what the "perfect fit" is. Thing is some ppl like their skates super tight some looser some with eyelets all the way to the stop some 1+ more skipped etc, along with different stiffness preferences. One of the downsides with true is the customer had NO idea what to expect because theres no retail or demo pair for them to try on.. it would be beneficial for each store to have full sizes available to heat mould for the prospective customer, so they have an idea what they are getting themselves into, and maybe from that advise what they wanted different from the stock one they tried on.

Ic. I just thought bc u got trues you would get steel for those.

I wouldn't spend more than 200 cdn after taxes on any stick. Period. That's just me.

Well them breaking easily isn't surprising esp since using Easton technology. Easton had the worsst sticks in terms of durability.

CCM steel is garbage anyways. Their black steel is literally just paint.

Seems like the issue with skates might be you and not the manufacturers. Your toes are supposed to touch/feather the toe cap when standing or walking, and pull away slightly away from the toe cap when the knees are bent. If you like no toes touching at all then that's your personal preference and you may be SOL. You've gone through custom skates from two different companies and still not happy. Are u even sure the heel width is the issue and not the fact that u are pronating inside the boot that's causing the fit "issue". I know for my right foot that pronates, it feels a bit sloppier than my left bc of the pronation. When I pronate my foot on purpose and try to lift my heel up with the skates on it's locked it or "feels" locked in bc the foot no longer is rolling/further pronating. Doing this made me realize that it was the skate fit that was causing me to feel the slight slop but the slop was actually coming from INSIDE my foot from the pronation No matter "perfect" my right skate is going to be it'll always feel off vs my left bc of my pronation. Just like when I wear shoes as well. The smaller 4.5 might feel better because they are so tight it doesn't allow much pronation (for now) but as I believe it was @Vet88 stated before the pronating foot will eventually break down the stiff boot and the issue will start arising again. At some point you may need to look at whether it's the skates or you. And if it's something you're going to have to live with or try to fix rather than going for the ideal skate fit that may not exist.

Looks like there is an outsole when u look at under the toecap but then blends in from the forefoot to the heel... Either way it could be just a one piece the sole extends to the toe vs the ccms that just cut off.

Fair enough. Im just surprised the store was able to refund you without having to go through true first.

Just like that. Money back and see ya later? No trying to see if there were toe plugs to remove etc. Double check to see if they sent the right skates via the barcode on the skates? Are these your first or second skates with true? Kind of surprised the store would give you a refund as True is the one that collected your money. I guess if it's that off there's really no tinkering you can do.

My beef isn't so much with the durability of true skates. Imo they are constructed very well and the two pairs I've had showed no signs of any major issues, or even QC issues aside from my one skate's tongue tab. I believe it when you say there haven't been any major issues with the shop you got your Trues from but the post I linked on Reddit weren't major issues. They were what I would consider easy fixes... The holders should've been a simple swap which if it happened at the lhs I got my trues from, the shop would've done that right then and there without me having to send it back to true. For the tongue tab, anything short of a toe cap replacement if the skate is still under warranty is unacceptable imo. A warranty repair should not leave the skate looking like the repair was done by fifth grader. Even if it was out of warranty and I paid true to fix the issue, that is not something I would expect. I have a feeling that replacing the entire toe cap is a lot of work just by looking at how the boot is constructed. I'm not sure how often they have the tongue tab issues come up, but if it's something that's somewhat common, maybe they should redesign that part. Imo, a better "fix" for the broken tongue tab would be cementing a longer piece of plastic that is anchored underneath the top of the toe cap which extends out the front creating the new "tab". Rather than plastering glue and epoxy all over the existing broken one.

I'm not saying that it reflects true as a whole etc. But just posting it out there. From my personal experience and reading that post it's clear their "repair" process is kind of a joke. There are pictures posted on their of the guys experience. Also, there are lots of true supporters on Reddit.

It's weird that he completely stopped using Bauer for everything... You would think even if his contract was up etc he would still use something that he liked, unless he never really liked Bauer and did it for the endorsement... Or he tried CCM and genuinely likes the CCM bucket gloves and skates better.

The comfort foam was optional wasn't it? And it does say when added it'll reduce the width of the boot slightly.

Did u bake them? The big issue I had with my as1 (retail) was that my pinky toe was aggravated by the piece of plastic on the toe cap where the toe cap met the boot. I had to put a piece of foam there to alleviate it ..
