KOR Shift 1 and 2

Recommended Posts

Chadd/Jimmy...Thanks for posting the pic!!!

To me they look the same as my Shift 1's (minus the blue color). They're supposed to be higher cut though, right?

Well, not in the market for new skates yet since mine are still in great shape. The only thing I don't like about my Shift 1's are the toe caps. They look like clown shoes...lol!!! Did they change that a little with the 2's?

haha, a lot of folks are like you, want the 2's so bad but their 1's are still in great shape. KOR made a very durable skate and while it holds up well, guys like you will just have to think of another reason to get the 2's!

You could do what Kieth did, cut his wrist playing hockey, get rushed to hospital. Teamates leave his equipment in locker room. Equipment (and Kors) gets stolen. Sad but true, right Kieth?

yes, they are a lot like the 1's. Regular eyelets on the 2's, and yes the toe cap is different.

Anyone out there currently wearing Kors that have high arches (like Flexlite or 709 arches)? In other words, will these skates accomodate deep, wide feet??

Thanks

Joshy207 & Jimmy, while my Shift 1's are definitely still in great shape, I am in the market for 2 pairs of the same skates - 1 for ice hockey, 1 which I intend to convert into an inline hockey skate (replacing the holder with a pair of Sprung chassis). I have my mind set on the Shift 2's because of my impressions of the performance that the Shift 1 has given me, but I need to know if this can be done. I remember an old post saying that the Shift 1 cannot be converted into an inline skate. Can the Shift 2?

Yeah it can... becaue as previously posted it's holder is riveted this time around.

But, the difference is that the rivets go through a mounting plate under the insole...

I would have to take one apart to tell you for sure. The one in Vegas had it riveted without a mounting plate, but reps' samples had the plate.

It'll accomodate pretty much any foot. Slightly narrow, wide, thick, thin, deep, shallow, high arch, low arch, no arch... the boot is very moldable, unlike any other out there. I have very high arches and wear Shift 1s with no arch trouble at all. Shift 2s might lose some of the extreme-molding capability because of the plates used to anchor the rivets--the bottom of the boot may not be able to mold as much as on the Shift 1. But at the hockey show a couple years ago, the KOR guys were able to mold a skate to fit a EEEE-width foot.

? for u guys.My son tried on a pair of kor shift1 size 7 and the fit was JUST perfect. The problem is it's still summer and he is a growing boy and I don't want him to possibly just get half a year,MAYBE a year, out of them.I don't know if when u bake them u get a little more room length wise or not.The guy at the shop didn't know much about the kors.Should I look for a 8s or keep the 7s, that's the only size they have.He is presently wearing vector 10s size 5.5.Thank for any advice u can give me.

A size and a half up from Vectors seems to be quite a bit to me. The toe sling can make a slightly larger skate feel like a good fit while still allowing a little room to grow. An 8 will likely be way too large for his foot. Going a full size up over a skate that fits him is never a good idea. It's much better to buy two pair of mid-line skates than one pair of high end skates that don't fit.

I forgot to mention his shoe size is 7 and when he tried on the kors I had him touch the toe cap and bent his knee to see how much room he had in the heel,it was less than quarter inch.I was under the impression kors fit your shoe size. His toe is up against the cap in his vectors Thanks for the response Chadd

A quarter inch is a pretty healthy amount of room to grow. It's usually around 1/8 of an inch from say a 7 to a 7.5 or 7.5 to 8 according to most generic charts.

Chadd would say a 71/2 or even a 8 shoe size could fit into a 7 kor

Every brand of shoe fits differently, I wear anywhere from a 10.5-12 depending on the brand and I wore a 10.5 shift 1. Most of the customers that bought Kors from me, went a half to a full size down from shoe size. Half size down was the most common.

Is the mounting plate capable of mounting inline frames?

Jumping jesus christ in a sidecar, look a couple posts above you when someone asks the same fucking question and JR follows up with a very clear and concise answer.

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right thread but I thought I'd throw it in anyways...is there any chance the retailer list on the Kor website is out of date? I notice they don't have anything about the Shift 2 on there, so I'm guessing it is a possibility. I threw them an e-mail a little while back but I never heard anything, just wondering if they might have gotten any new retailers in the greater toronto area recently. I saw they have one in 'Thorold', but WTF? I've never even heard of that place.

Thanks

I also have the gut feeling that the list of retailers is out of date.

Thanks, JR! I'll standby til you actually take one apart. Here's hoping!

Here are the photos of the mounting plates in the sole of the skate. In my opinion, for the price, this should be manufactured much cleaner and the plates shouldn't exist.

<snipped photos>

Wow.. I'm surprised that they let that plate pass QA. One of the rivets is obviously hardly attached to the plate. :(
