Recommended Posts

Bingo - Bloomington here I come, I guess there is one in Blaine too - I will stop by the Blaine store during my 5 shops for 5 miles hockey shoppig spree - Then maybe after a little pick up hockey at Richfield arena, I will head on out to Bloomington store.

Does anybody know were ( besides Dave Sports Shop who don't have my size ) sell KOR's at a LHS in the Twin Cities of Minnesota???

Hockey Giant.

I don't see any problem with the chart, the chart says 8.5 Bauer = 9.0 KOR - So in terms of skate to skate its accurate, but shoe to skate its a little off, but nobody should ever start figuring shoe size to skate size, because shoes are build totally different. If you stick with the skate to skate conversion the chart is fairly accurate....that being said I will never buy skates off the internet from some "chart" - I learned my lesson in June 2002.....but everybody has a lesson to be learned.

Again, that size chart for the Shift 1's that was just posted appears to be a 1/2 size too big. I'm a 10 shoe and was a 8.5 in Bauer's and I've worn a size 9 Kor for over 2 years that fit perfectly.

Sorry, too early in the morning to be posting. LOL!! I didn't notice that the skate to skate was correct.

After baking twice and a dozen skates on the KOR's I've given up. I feel like Im wearing goalie skates. They fit fine, in fact the right side is a touch too snug. The boots are dead feeling and very cumbersome. Nothing at all like the "Ferraris" the vid on their website makes them out to be.

I also have massive issue with the Shift1, I know ppl on here rave about it but I hate the things. I never feel like I have as much bite into the ice as I do with my TUUKs. Very slow.

Its really dissapointing I guess I'll have to hoc them off to someone, somewhere.

You sound like you need a different hollow or radius. I played around with that and went from 3/8" hollow and 9' radius to 1/2" hollow and 11' radius. Made a big difference in speed, endurance and stability.

Just shows you how hard it is to buy any skate without trying them on. Based on my sizing I would've told you you needed a 7.5 Kor if you told me you were a 6.5 in the bauers, a 7 based on the Eastons and an 8 based on the Missions. I use an 8.5 KOR Shift 1, size to 8.5EE in Mission L7s, tried on a friends 7.5 One90s which were the right length and believe I'd be about an 8 Easton...your 7 only seems right to me vs the Eastons, but everyone's feet are different.

hmmmm, interesting post - just goes to show you when a skate comes down in price - and if H.G. is trying to "hawk them" at classic low prices - I sometimes wonder why? At first I though "...Well KOR is a newbie, it wants to get their name out there....", then I noticed that KOR is not very popular with the pro's - could be one of two things 1) Low budget or 2) Pro's don't like them.....

Now AussieJoe comes out with these "classic" blasts......"boots are dead feeling....", "...like wearing goalie skates...", "...I tell you what they are no Ferraries..." and to top it off the bitter classic "I will have to hoc them off to someone...." AussieJoe looks like H.G. beat you to the punch...maybe they know something we don't????

Have my fears been realized - well I will find out next week during my fitting at H.G.

KORs or bust....bottomline in the 52 previous pages there have been some good positive feedback peppered here and there....

don't give up AussieJoe 2 bakes and 12 skates is nothing for those type of skates - give them a good hard skate - try really breaking those puppies in. Come on now - one more bake and 12 more skates and report back....

We want you to shake, bake and skate....until those puppies are mushy....

I understand not everyone will like something in particular, unless every skate was custom made for each individual; however I'm intrigued on AussieJoe's comments, on the bite of the blade it just seems to be an issue with the runner, trying another hollow and/or radius should help.

On the boot however, not quite clear on the feeling, are you saying they’re too heavy? soft?

On the HG Shift1's, that is simply one effort to get the name out there. KOR doesn't have a big sales division, and no marketing at all, as we try our best to move fwd just by our product and customer service, the reality is that marketing plays a huge role, pretty much selling expensive "concepts" instead of products.

We're currently working with numerous NHL's in Europe and looking fwd to being introduced in the league, of course, there's still royalties we would need to pay the league when time is due.

Well I tell you I play pick up hockey with 2 other freinds - and we talk about KOR all the time driving to the rink which is about 1 hour drive - We are "daring" each other for one of us to be the first to "buy KOR" - One almost gave in but then he bought Mission and he regreats it because now he heard KOR's were like tanks ( in his mind a good thing ) because he got hit with a puck the other night and it hurt big time in his Missions.....So there is no doubt the KOR product in on the edge of success, I think alot of people are like my friends and I we hear the talk, just waiting for a "blow out" price.....but now I am tempted by KOR 2's.....thus the circle of life and cutting edge advsertising.....Cheers to KOR....I am at least going to "try them on" at H.G. while I am in minnesota for 4th of July...

I am a Bauer Supremem 11.5 D - So I will see if they have 12.0 D - I know Daves sporting good don't have my size....

You won't get that from the padding, but baking will allow your heel to drop back further, and this should give you that 1/8".

Also KOR skates need to be baked to have the best fit possible cool.gif , it's not optional.

BreakingParadigms, thanks for the advice. I did bake them and my heel dropped back as you suggested it would. These skates now fit as close to perfect as any pair I have tried! I have not skated them yet as I got a little hurt after I baked but before my skate guy could sharpen.

Can't wait to try them. They don't seem that stiff in the uppers, some have called this a very stiff skate. I have the pitch set to neutral which I hear is like a CCM/ RBK stock pitch which suits me fine. Amazing how the entire skate molds to the foot, no hype about that aspect of the skate!

I just got a size 10. My toes touch the neoprene at the toe, but if I kick my foot all the way forward, I have about a finger's width of room behind my heel. Would I be better off going down to a 9.5?

You Tuuk, at least the Kor rep. responded to this. You never heard anything from Bauer when you were complaining about your XXV's, did you?

Welcome to the board.

Actually, you would be surprised. We not only have Nike/Bauer sales reps on here, we also have 3 product managers and two research and development department heads who are on MSH...

I'm personally disappointed in KOR and how they handled the Shift 1 liquidation. I don't see it as a way to "get the name out", rather just as a lazy way to liquidate old stock. Plus, by not offering any of the 1's to the smaller dealers who have been with them since the beginning, they screwed us 2 ways, ... not allowing us access the extremely low wholesale pricing, and also by virtually killing any Shift 2 sales. Why would anyone buy a Shift2 for $479 when they can get a Shift 1 for $180. So we lose both ways. I will have to think twice about stocking KOR products in the future. Really hard.

HG got that low of pricing is because they bought 700 pair. Can't fault KOR for clearing out their older inventory in one swoop instead of dealing with smaller shops who would pick and choose and haggle over price. I've bought closeouts and things really open up when you have the buying power to say "Here's my take-all price." It happens all the time, would you rather have them sit on a ton of product or would you rather see them try to clean up and move forward? v Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

It's over and done with, they're pretty much sold out.

Welcome to the board Shings11, I have to report something....Got in Minnesota today and I had my sister drive me straight from the airport to Hockey Giant in Bloomington, and I tried on the KORs --- The people at HG were very helpful but they only had size 11.5 in the Shift 2 and nothing near my size in Shift 1, I really needed 12 according to the chart...anyway they were way to small, but I stuffed my foot in them anyway and they felt great, but like I said too small....So I guess after pick up hockey on Monday with my XXV's I will head on out to Blaine to do my 5 stores in 5 miles in 5 hours, my 5 for 5 in 5....YeeeHaaaa

P.S. I never really bad mouth my XXV's, like I said they are great performance skates, I have never skated faster --- they just don't fit my foot like the old Supreme did, so they cause issues like feet hurting, minor leg cramps

Maybe the skate is too stiff for him and he's not getting his edges when he turns/stops/twists. I think the Kor/Torspo skates are a damn good skate for a bigger guy providing they fit properly.

Go to SportsWorld USA in Eden Prairie off of Hwy5 and Eden Prairie Road..It is in the strip mall next to Kowalski's Market by the dental clinic..Dave's Sport Shop in Fridley is pretty good too..Strauss Skates off of Hwy36 and White Bear is a great shop as well. HockeyGiant is not the place to buy skates..Maybe pick up some sticks, practice jerseys and shin guards/helmets..but NOT skates..

Yup, no brainer. We'll just let HG sell all their upcoming models, by mail. Smart move KOR. Your laziness to sell in one swoop alienated your dealers. Dealers who took a risk stocking their no-name brand. Nice way to build your brand.
