KOR Shift 1 and 2

I understand that, but even though it wasn't a current model, the low ball price did in fact kill sales on the SHift2.

Welcome to the board Shings11, I have to report something....Got in Minnesota today and I had my sister drive me straight from the airport to Hockey Giant in Bloomington, and I tried on the KORs --- The people at HG were very helpful but they only had size 11.5 in the Shift 2 and nothing near my size in Shift 1, I really needed 12 according to the chart...anyway they were way to small, but I stuffed my foot in them anyway and they felt great, but like I said too small....So I guess after pick up hockey on Monday with my XXV's I will head on out to Blaine to do my 5 stores in 5 miles in 5 hours, my 5 for 5 in 5....YeeeHaaaa

P.S. I never really bad mouth my XXV's, like I said they are great performance skates, I have never skated faster --- they just don't fit my foot like the old Supreme did, so they cause issues like feet hurting, minor leg cramps

Monday?? What about Sat. and Sun. Does Minnysota shut down for the weekend? I just don't want to see you razzled on Monday like it's do or die on skates and then get something that's not quite right just because you limited yourself to Monday. And remember to make sure "the fishing lure is going to catch the fish, not the fisherman."

Yes I know what you mean about the "fisherman" comment, sometimes LHS guys get excited about pushing out some stock ( Hey I don't fault them its part of the "biz" ) and I end up buying skates in the 1st store of my 5 for 5 shop day!!! I say to myself Hey wait a minute I got 4 stores left and I already got skates....Oh well.

Special "SHOUTOUT" ( Big Brother style ) to epstud74 for sharing his "local" Minnesota LHS knowlege...sounds like he went on his share of skate shopping sprees. YO! EP!

If anything Kor made a great move to get their name/ skate visible to more people and the market. Small investment to make a long term impact. Good for them. Still waiting for my S15's to crap out on me so I can get a pair of Shift 2's.

I'm not arguing, but couldn't you just point out the difference between the two and say "This is what they improved on, get these instead?" and upsell? I mean, I sold Shift2 and never had anyone come in wanting to get Shift1 from HG. ONE90s, 9k and V10s are all sold at a discount now - it's not devaluing the current skates.

Kor's mistake wasn't selling their ENTIRE stock at a discounted price, that's just good business sense. Their mistake was manufacturing too many skates in the first place. If you're sitting on old stock and someone is willing to buy all your product, you take that...

If someone offered to buy all your shift 1s left in stock, would you take them up on that?

Yes we did that, however we were at a slight disadvantage as we didn't have any dirt cheap S1's to offer. Most of the people who came in just wanted to try on our Shifts so they could size for their HG purchase. They were aware of the Shift2, but the HG price was too good, $300 less.

When I did complain to KOR about the negative effects their blowout had on Shift2 sales, they right up front admitted they noticed it too. Trust me, I'm not making this stuff up.

Interesting - because the sizing is different between the Shift1 and Shift2. Hope you didn't tell them that.

Sizing was the same for me, other than the width. Their "brannock" was off by a decent margin.

Tho I'm not the person that can detail on this, I do know that the Shift1 wholesale did slow down Shift2 sales, but these weren't so good to start, the reason being that people were hesitant to drop $ 450+ on skates that they hadn't seen anywhere before, so the idea was to have the Shift1 out there in greater volume ASAP and get more visibility on the name.

Now, Shift2 skates come as an upgrade of what most people already liked on the 1's. I know that KOR has failed on various times on its distribution, and coming from a manufacturing guy, I wouldn't know how to best explain all of it.

On the sizing, both models are built from the same length, but the 2's are wider on the forefoot area, what might differ on final sizing.

Sorry if has already been posted, but do you bake Shift1's the same way as Shift2's? If not, what's the proper way to do it?

Shift1 are slightly less responsive to heat, so just extend the 7 min cycle to 8, and from there on follow the same instructions.

For $100 from HG I might just give the Shift 1s a try for no reason other than it's too cheap not to - good move by Kor to get their name out there to someone who would have never otherwise paid their skate any attention...

Could someone cover the baking instructions, including whether you can stand, flex, etc? The KOR website is down and I can't locate detailed baking instructions anywhere else. Thanks.

10 min for Shift 2 (I was told this). You can stand and flex, but only slightly flex forward. Make sure you do one at a time, and mold the skate around your foot with your hands to ensure a great fit.

Great, thanks a lot for that. I'm assuming it's 175 like any other skate right?

As kovalchuk71 has said. If the skate oven is preheated take it down to 7-8 min. Stand, flex and move slightly to open any tight spots, then wrap the skate with your hands as it cools down.

The site is currently down for renovation, it should be up again in a few days.

Hi guys, a few questions.

I have horribly flat, narrow feet and pronate very badly. What would you think about shift1's for me? I wear a size 7.5 in a one75 so what size would that be? Would I be able to wear orthotics with these skates?

I'm looking at these because of the great deal they're going for. Any help is appreciated.(sorry if these have already been asked but I don't really have the time to sift through 55 pages :))

PS these would not be my full time skates.
