KOR Shift 1 and 2

Recommended Posts

The shift 2 has a neoprene toe 'sock' that takes up some space... also once you bake the skates it should drop your foot back about 1/4" in the heel.

I have shift 2's and I have been noticing that every game starting at the begining of the third period, the ankle pads get hard. Has anyone else noticed this? does this improve after some amount of time? I like the skates otherwise.

Thanks

Has anyone modified the tongue on there Kor Shift 1's? I've been getting some pain on the inside of my left foot. The spot is on my ankle bone where the second eyelet and side of the tongue meet. I have tried callus cushions ( donut style pad for callus's on your feet ). I have seen people cut there tongue to relieve a sore spot but I don't think I could do that on the shift 1 tongue.

Has anyone replaced there tongue or had a similar problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

I just got a pair of Shift 1's too and they tore up my feet. Not only did i get cut on both legs where the top of the boot ends but i got a huge blister on the inside of my left foot right above my arch. I usually play without socks and the "micro suede" material on the inside of the boot started to act like velcro after it started to get wet. now i could try wearing socks but im not sure that would fix the problem above my arch....

I've not had problems with mine (on my second pair now), but I always wear thin skating socks. There's not a lot of give in the lower boot. Did you bake them and then have them molded to your feet while standing and flexing forward slightly? I remember that was major one difference in the heat fitting process from all the other boots that I've tried.

When you bake them don't lace the top eyelets and push the top of the boot out slightly. That solved the problem with the tearing the skin at the top of the boot. Or you could just not lace the top eyelet.

Has anyone ever tried putting felt tongues on there shift 1's?

I think they are metric M6. I used a longer one than original to replace one of mine. To be sure, just remove one and take it to the hardware store to get an exact match. You are going to have to go there anyway to buy the screws.

The blister came from improper baking. Kor actually shipped a pad with the skates as well as directions on how to expand the novicular area. I used to use a piece of VN foam from an old helmet, it worked better.

I bought a pair of "new" Shift 2s on ebay and just received them today. From what I recall from this thread, they are supposed to have some sort of mounting plate inside of the boot, is that right? If so, what type of material is it?

I removed the insole (normal insole with Kor logo) from the boot, and there were 2 foam pieces underneath, one under the heel, the other under the forefoot. I don't see any mounting plate. The rivets are secured directly against the the carbon. This isn't the usual internal setup, is it? Something just doesn't seem right. Further, the toe sock is missing in the left boot. If it helps, the tag on the tongue says "Made in Mexico". Any insight would be greatly appreciated. If I can get my digital camera to work, I'll try to upload some pics.

I've seen these on Ebay as well and drooling over them ($100.00) but my dad always said; if it seems to good to be true it probably is. Damn it... Once again dad was right.

Why not give them a try? Could not be those at all.

Hey, SubliTWILL was selling KOR's on here a month or two back for 100 bucks brand new, bought a pair off him and love them

Buying from SubliTWILL and buying from some unknown on eBay is very incomparable. Anything from Marz is going to be good with any potential issues disclosed(ie "These Eagle sticks are not under warranty").

Bought my kid the KOR Shift 2's on EBAY Size 8.5 - Brand new in the box, unbaked, they look perfect as I had the seller take pics of the inside with and without and footbeds and verified everything was in order (i.e. neoprene intact, etc). going to heat them up and see what's what.

All for the pricely sum of $55.

Having them in hand and holding them up to the VAPOR XXXX's - I must say I am very impressed with the KOR's - much of my earlier complaints re trying them on - fit, etc seem unfounded now that I have more time with them.

Damn nice skate IMO - Especially for the $. Looking at the interior of the boot - the Vapors seem to be just straight sided skates without too much form inside the boot (which aint bad) but the KOR's have serious contouring and seemingly silicone (or memory foam) countours creating a heel & ankle pockets. Ankle holddown should be very very good.

Seriously, the KOR's make the Vapors look very simple and plain - of course, the Vapors work but I can see where KOR Hockey were getting the "future" of hockey slogan. Seems like they put quite a bit of technology into these skates. The fully heat moldable shell reminds me so much of the One95 but it appears that there is more to mold on the KOR ??? Who knows - he may hate skating in them but I am hoping not - looks pretty good out of the box.

And I know, I am a few years behind the curve on these but better late than never. (and better cheap than never too).

Will report back after setting them up/baking/etc just in case anybody has the idea of getting any.

They actually look better than I remember.

Aren't they gone ... out of business and nobody home?

I have seen the KOR Manufacturing Website but I assume the skate division is no longer viable and not supporting the skates - am I wrong?

The Canadian branch closed as I recall, but I thought their operations in Mexico still lived on.

True...see the following:

KOR Companies

But I think they are onto other things now and the Hockey Group is completely NADA.
