Little People Hockey?

I've had this topic noodling in my brain for the longest time... as fun as it is to watch little people wrestle, basketball, or anything else in that fact. How Awesome would it be to see real little people playing hockey. Two teams of completely little people going at each other would be nothing but a riot. If anyone has any pics or videos or something, I've GOTTA see it.

Reminds me of a time in a league game last year, each team had a "diminutive skater". When one of the little guys (a defenseman, no less) rushed the puck out of his own end, went coast to coast and scored on a beautiful play, a cry went out from his bench: "Our Midget's Better!"

The rink I rink at has a kid that plays mite and hes a little guy, hes literally about 8-10 inches shorter than most, with skates on.even that that age, 8-10 inches is a lot. Hes so cool to watch though, he stands in front on the net on offense and picks up doorstep goals.ill get a better height guesstimate next time i see him play.

Reminds me of a time in a league game last year, each team had a "diminutive skater". When one of the little guys (a defenseman, no less) rushed the puck out of his own end, went coast to coast and scored on a beautiful play, a cry went out from his bench: "Our Midget's Better!"

Yeah Marty is tiny. I have a buddy that's about the same size as him(the boards come up to about the same height as marty), my friend is 5'6.

Technically they're not handicapped, but sure it could be a bit more tasteful.

But then again I was never the classiest of people. Anything humorous or fun is humorous or fun at the expense of someone/something. if we go about being completely compassionate/PC about everything in life, we'd never have a good time.

Think of it this way: would it be fun to win a championship knowing and being compassionate of the other team that just lost it?

I actually was thinking that it was tasteless but I also thought that with the Easton toy drive it was classless to participate just for the stick.

At least the toy drive had SOME good to it. Nothing good can come out making fun of somebody who was dealt a bad hand. I guess its a personal thing because we had a girl who came to a few icetimes with us who wasn't a little person, but had abnormally small legs (about 3/4 the length of "normal" legs). If I ever saw somebody laughing at her for trying to play hockey, I would fucking DESTROY that person beyond their own mother's recognition.

Wow, that sounds so ignorant. If the term "little people" was swapped for any ethnic or racial group then you would probably see how ignorant your statement is. It is not cool to mock persons with disabilities.

I know a few little people, and they don't see themselves as disabled.

I also worked with the handicapped back in Ireland, at the special olympics, and they do a lot of mocking each other, you will find most have a great sense of humour about life

How did I KNOW some Tree Huggin Hippie would pipe up and get all huffy and call out the PC Police. Hell, like the other guy said, there already is a Kids Division called Midget Hockey. I'm surprised there aren't more hippies chirping about how that's demeaning to Little People, such as the whole Native Americans and the use of mascots in sports. There already is Sled Hockey for the Disabled, and in the latest USA Hockey Magazine, there was even an All Deaf Game/League (I forget which). Just seems natural for Little People to have their shot too. Seems more offensive that there Isn't the opportunity for those interested to play. Maybe start out as Exhibition games in between periods, like little mites, then eventually grow into their own professional league? LPPHL. There's a Whole Untapped market out there.
