The only times I've ever hacked at a stick is when it's a guy that insists on trying to make everyone look bad pulling moves that would get them killed in a real game. Even then, it's not much more than a slightly more aggressive sweep check.

Now that you mention that, I should try to get my old XX stiff TPS Genesis back from the old man. Might be a good option for those times at shinny when the douches show up.

I resurrected my old aluminum Easton Silvertip just for when games get a little slashy. Hack away, boys, I know who's stick is going to break.

I'm already paying $500 to play in this frickin' league, I don't want to have to shell out another hundred or two because you're a hack. I remember when I finally found a pro stock Kovalchuk curve, I had to wait about a month to get it because of some shipping mix ups. First game I used it in, some deusch hacked me on a faceoff and broke the hosel in half. Words can't describe what I felt at that time.

There was an older guy at pickup over winter break who made it his mission to take chops at my stick, hard as he could every chance he could. All his equipment was ancient so he obviously has something against it. I just started using my synergy ST cause that thing takes a beating and I didn't care if it broke. I can't really describe what it was like but it was so obvious he was trying to break the stick. Ignoring my body and ignoring the puck, chops to the stick were his priority.

had a guy grab my stick from my hands and stomp on it and snap it into two pieces cause i was skating circles around him. So we were digging out a puck from the corner he had enough and rips my stick from me and curb stomps it. He immediately left the arena but i was ready to kill him.

That is a dick move breaking someones stick, but why did you feel the need to skate circles around someone in pickup hockey? Why not just move the puck around and set guys up if you are that much better?

same. even though i suppose the whole point of pick up is to practice moves. i also find solace in shutting them down time after time.

Fun? The guy could also have been a total hack with most everybody else on a level with highslot, or any of another billion circumstances.

I do hope he let the rink know about that incident.

I did let the rink know about it. They didnt really do much because no one working saw the incident and his "boys" on the bench from the adult league wouldnt rat him out unfortunately.

That sounds a little better. The way you worded it in the first post made it sound like you might have been doing a little unnecessary hot-dogging. Not that I condone the way he reacted.

One of my new pick-up pet peeves is that nobody knows if they're playing forward or d, and some guys promise to play D, but then jump into the slot the whole time... Ok, I got stuck playing D recently, I admit <_<

We have a kid on our team that did the stick chop with his skate thing recently. Our player is a stud...played ECHL....got tired of a hack on the other team taking shots at him all game..so...when said crappy opponent had him against the boards trying to stick his feet out from under him while the puck was froze he took the opportunity to step on his stick....I got a laugh out of it....although it is a dick move.

i dont care for the small break after a goalie covers it, or a goal and one guy pick its up and blasts coast to coast to catch ya all getting back to set up....

on a side note....one thing I did do that i know guys likesd was ....earlier this season I was out with an injury I would show up and ref... Just called offsides, and dropped the puck for faceoffs... kept my legs a bit and made it more fun for the sometimes non motivating drop in...

Our local rink only allows 24 and then cuts it off!

But then after I skate hard for two minutes I sit for a while because everyone else glides around for ten minutes a shift!

We have Friday pick ups at an inline rink here. The rink manager sets them up and then comes out and skates with his son. They both don't pay and all they do is bitch about line changes. They also have a cut off of 16 players but he likes to go past that. Sometimes wayyyy past that. The last two times I went I wanted to ask for my money back. I don't know why I went to be honest. I knew it would suck.
