why would a pro like selanne wrap his laces around his ankle? just out of (bad) habit?

I tape mine..I always have

Next person to post that pic is getting banned. Simple as that.

I suppose you could put up a sticky regarding the rules when it comes to posting pics of not yet released equipment and the consequences of such. etc etc..

With all the other sticky posts regarding rules that don't get read/adhered too....this way will make the point much quicker.

I'd assume it's just the old traditional kind of VN foam, that's what it looks like, I guess he just liked it better and was used to it.

I've noticed that too. My theory is that he could be using the old style HC100 padding. I noticed that when he had his intake he used that older HC100 style padding. When he switched to a S9 at the start he used the standard S9 dual VN, but I guess it didn't work out for him.

JR,

Fletch's pic sure looks like he didn't lace the top two (One90/95) while your pic clearly shows what you're talking about (Vapor). Do you think the One90/95 eyelets can't be punched out by hand??

How about we stop beating the dead horse? There are places to see the skates (for the time-being)...this isn't going to be one of them. If Bauer wants the skates to remain relatively secretive, the Mods here are going to respect those wishes.

Once the company is ready to unveil the skate, this will be the place to be.

I just don't get the need to see pics of a skate that you won't be able to buy for 6-9 months. Plus, it's not like the new model is much of a revelation, they change one series or the other every year. Then again, if Bauer wasn't putting the skate out so early, they wouldn't be having this problem.

Agreed. If Bauer wasn't looking for booking orders so early, they wouldn't need to put the skate out so soon. It's sorta difficult for reps to take orders without samples of product. I understand that the earlier the orders go in, the better companies can forcast demand but I think its getting a little rediculous. The current release date of equipment does bring some customers into the shop during the typical slow-down time of the year but I'd prefer to see things pushed back a little.

C'mon I think anyone that wanted to see it, has already seen it. People on this site are interested in hockey and hockey equipment, and when we hear something new is coming out, we just can't wait to see what it is. Bauer should have guessed this would happen. If that skate leaves the factory, it's only a matter of time before everyone sees it. It's Bauers fault this pic came out.

How cocky can they be, saying only the "important" people get to see it but not the masses who will buy this skate. I'm happy this came out, it gives me time to save up that kind of money. I'm prob going from XXX's to X60's

For better or worse, people will always take it as a challenge if a company tries to keep things securely under wraps. Its rare that a movie hits theaters nowadays where the entire storyline isn't available online for spoiler junkies to devour. Thats just the name of the game nowadays.

The Mods need to balance the wants of this community vs. their close relationships with the manufacturers. Do you think JR could have scored that cool interview with NBH after they bought Mission/Itech if they were hosting pictures of products NBH didn't want out in the public yet?

I'm not taking a side, just pointing out the complexity of this issue...

I don't see a balance being needed at all. Reps don't want the pic out, so out of respect it won't be posted here just like all the other things that have been kept from being posted before. Even for a site full of gear nerds, I don't see the point in seeing a skate that's not going to be available to them for some time, let alone anything groundbreaking and new.

I certainly see your point of view, but isn't that seeing things only from the manufactuer\vendor side of things? Isn't the majority of people who post on MS the every day guy who gets excited about hearing about industry news and products before the general public?

I think my biggest issue is that we all know those horrible message-boards-who-will-not-be-named that try to emulate ModSquad will have no qualms with posting these pictures... This site won't and thats an ethical dilema and thats the "balance" I am talking about.

it's a marketing scheme... a lot of companies do.. apple is one to name a few

They may try but they very rarely succeed sites like macrumors/gizmdo etc post the pics, and it doesn't seem to be hurting their bottom line,

However the main reason apple does this is because they show off the products at keynotes and they want people to show up and pay for that right to see the product idk does Bauer have keynotes i highly doubt it.

That site enjoys no special relationship with the industry. MSH would not know about everything so early if the mods and senior members just blabbed everything they hear.

If all you want is pictures, go there. If you want the meat, the details, the new features, the inside in the industry, stay here and don't step on any toes that will get our privileges taken away.
