Wednesday- 10am: 10 page paper due

Thursday- 6pm: Easily the biggest football game in the history of the UO. Can't attend because....

Friday- 2 tests due by 5pm

Saturday- 8am:LSATs, followed by

Monday: 10am Final #1

Tuesday: 10am Final #2

Wednesday: 8am Final #3.

I'll agree with you on finals, mine do not start until the 14th, but they last the entire week. Hooray for lazy professors that don't want to get out of bed before 11am and schedule their final for 3:30pm on Friday the 18th. I'm sure all 30 of us really want to be on campus until it closes Friday evening... gotta love the extra charges that come for having to stay the extra night on campus too.

your professors schedule finals?

here at the school i go to there is a set schedule for all the finals. We cant blame a teacher for having a late friday final, its just how the schedule works.

im glad i only go to that wed of finals week

Yeah, CMU does it the same way. Classes that meat at X time will have a final at X time, based on this grid you can find online.

I should clarify, the later in the day your class, the later the final in the day/week. So, professors that schedule all their classes late in the day get finals scheduled by the school at the end of the week and end of the days. The thing being, a lot of parents won't come get their kid at 5:30-6 at night if it means a 6-9 hour drive home that night... So, people stay the night to help their parents out, then find they are charged for an extra night in their billing for the semester. I commute now, but when I went to a different school my freshman year it was a three hour drive for my family to come get me, and my last final was in the final time slot from 8-10:30 pm. campus technically closed at midnight. I stayed the night so I could help my family out by having them pick me up on Saturday morning. Bill comes two weeks later and I get charged $500 for the extra night, there was no disputing the charge because it was in the school handbook, but the position myself and others was in because of the finals schedule was absurd. I don't deal with that now, but other people in my class are.

Last night in our game there was a race for the puck at our defensive blue line. I leaned forward with my stick trying to poke it away from the rushing forward. My stick got caught between his legs so I let it go, unfortunately he tripped and I got a penalty. This is a perfect example of an accidental trip that is still a penalty, I had no intention of tripping him but my stick got caught up in his legs. The whistle went, I leaned over and picked up my stick. The next thing I know I'm being slammed back down to the ice. Someone on their team skated full steam at me from their blue line and cross checked me in the back! And for some reason he only got a crosscheck penalty...I'm pretty sure if you come from across the rink and cross check someone in the back in a low level non check adult league you should be out of the game...It's alright though, we settled it by beating them 5-4 and knocking them out of the playoffs.

If it is as you described a five and game for a check from behind would be an appropriate penalty, but a lot of refs are unlikely to call a penalty like that, especially in a close game or one with playoff implications.

Yea, I kind of figured that was his thought. They didn't call much of anything last night and the game got pretty chippy at the end.

I played the game before his with the same refs, those guys were especially timid last night, 0 penalty minutes in a very chippy game last night, the only thing they call is icing and off sides. Good to bring out your best for the playoffs

Plane lands in Detroit in 5 minutes. Unfortunately I am at school with my thumb up my ass because my job cancelled my vacation last week. Only took them 51 weeks to decide I couldn't go. :(

Woke up at 5 when the sun rose (no bloody daylight savings)... made breakfast for the family, no time to eat cause I rushed to the airport to catch a flight... arrive at the airport, said goodbye to the wife and crying 5 year old son (promised him we'd play Modern Warfare 2 when I get back), found out that I'm 5 hours early and checkin doesnt open till 3 hours prior to flight. Tried to call the wife, but her mobile was off.

Sat in the terminal (Perth International with two coffeeshops) for 2 hours to pass time. Finally checked in and went to immiigration. Immigration says that something doenst check out, got escorted to another area. background checks clear, but they said that someone with the same name as me has done something wrong, and chances are EVERYTIME i travel I would get checked...

Random drug check on my bags, finally into the frigging lounge.... 3 hours to wait for flight.

A couple years back we spent the night in Toronto and when we showed up in the morning US Immigration decided that our first officer (co-pilot) had "incomplete" paperwork. Next thing we knew he disappeared behind a couple doors with blacked out windows. Five hours later another guy was flown in and we headed home.

That's rough.

On a lighter note, tonight I'm coming for a line change, the guy tries to jump over the board and falls right on my brand new OPS. The stick snaps 6" from the top. That OPS had no warranty.

Is it just me or should the guy step up and at least offer to replace it?

Nope. Accidents happen. If it's 6" add a wooden plug.

Only time I've made a guy pay me back for a broken stick was when he shot a tape ball in the locker room and snapped the blade off on a bench. If it happens during a game then nuts.

My C league let I think every team pick up new guys who are B league skilled except for ours. (And we were the last place team in the summer) They made us drop our 1 B level kid and now we are getting schooled by former college and junior show offs.

If you choose to buy an OPS with no warranty, you really have no beef when it breaks. Buy a wood stick... it would probably perform better than the lowest level OPS anyway, at a fraction of the price.

Why would a warranty cover this? It broke 10" from the top. The guy that fell on it weights at leat 300lbs!. I can't play with a wood stick, they are too short for me. I need at last a 62" stick as I'm 6'5".

Oh yeah, this is the venting thread, show some support :D :P

I'm a little grumpy at my team right now. Lost 2 games to otherwise winless teams. Just hasnt clicked lately. Doesnt help that one defensemen almost literally can't skate, but it's not his ability, it's because he's been skating on the same pair of T blades for 3 friggin years.

Don't tell me that you effed it up again!!??

Well MRI shows ligaments in tact even though they he says they're a bit loose (common for revisions). But when he was messing with it you can feel and hear it click so it's more than likely meniscus. He said I would know by mid week if it was no better I would probably need a "tune up". Go go gadget leg..

i agree, even during game play, if the stick breaks due to your stupidity you should offer to replace it, or reimburse him for it. Thats just common decency, I couldn't imagine breaking a guys stick on the bench, shrugging and going "sucks to be you."

At the very least offer to pay for SRS or a plug or something.

Don't complain!

In Toronto we haven't had snow yet like wtf.

First time in 160 years there was no snow in November

This is killing my hopes for our outdoor rink this year!

Anyways major piss off follows:

This small kid on my team got hit pretty dirty by this prick thats like my size atleast 8" bigger then him

so then the small kid gets up and throws two punches at this guy and he falls over

so small kid skates away to our bench and the big guy skates up behind him and bertuzzi's him

hence big brawl with like 3 fights near their bench

i'm standing there and then two of their players decide to jump into a fight and make it a 3-1

so i push them out an one kid punches me in the cage

push him away again

does it again

so i destroyed him

so on the gamesheet

it read: Gm30 (2 games for fighting) Gm31 (3 games for second fight in same whistle)

Yet i was clearly in one fight

GRRRRR

So i ended up missing 5 games after already missing atleast half the games because i had an intense cough for a few weeks.

Talking about snow: went to Dallas last week. It had snowed the day before I got there (Tues 01 Dec), and was still cold while I was there.

When I got back home (Calgary), the Park-and-Jet, located in an open field, had blown snow covering all the cars, 3 ft deep, and the parking lot had not been ploughed. The shuttle bus wouldn't go into the rows of cars for fear of getting stuck, so I had to wade through the snow with my luggage to get to my car (luckily I travel very lightly). It was below freezing with a strong wind.

I dug out the car with my hands (luckily I had gloves) and started it (barely), and then I used my hands to dig a trench to drive my car out. I was almost out of my row, driving in the tracks from other cars, when I bottomed out. Luckily there was a 4x4 pickup that came up behind me and nudged me out.

Driving home I could see abandoned cars along the roads and highways.

Getting home, none of the roads had been ploughed. Luckily my son had shoveled out the driveway.

But, both my son and I had hockey games later that day / night (Saturday), so at least the ice was hard and fast.
