Bauer Supreme TotalONE

Recommended Posts

Tried the skates on today at the Lets Play Hockey show. 1st time I've actually tried on any of the newer Supreme skates.

They fit me very well, I loved the feel of the tongue especially. Might have to pick a pair up in April!

I've been wearing size 7D Vapor X-60s for almost a year now and was surprised when I went to try on a pair of the TotalOnes in 7D and they were way too big. Size 6.5D fit me much better.

I was there yesterday as well. Did u try on the 11ks? Very long wait but worth it as well.

As for the TO, from what I gathered from a rep who was on skate bitch duty, same sizing as one95. The skate blew me away actually. I thought I wouldn't like the tongue and that it wouldn't be comfortable, absoutely not. Slightly lighter than my one95s, it was a noticeable difference but i don't know if you'll notice it if you put in fusion steel. Overall though amazing skate. The tongue was steel the deal breaker for me, I am in love with the one100 tongue.

These are somethings you'll want to try on though.

And for the 11ks... Impressed considering where they came from, however, the top line bauer skates still blow these away imo.

Great expo, did you ride the easton bull? Really gimmicky but pretty fun. I'm thinking next year my shop is definitely going to have an expo there just to have fun if anything. I spent better part of yesterday trying shit out and shooting the bull with people.

I have found JR's reviews are extremely informative, objective and imparitial. J.R. likes Bauer skates and that is his opinion because they work for him. To diss him on his reviews seems pointless. I like Easton skates because they work for me and I value JR's opinions on them regardless. I buy the brand I want even if there are bad points about the skate. It is a fact that Bauers are the most popular brand in the world and that in my opinion also reinforces the fact they are a good and well researched product. Weather they have the best research and development department can be left up to debate because the top three have to come up with new inovations all the time and still stay within the realm of avoiding copyright infringements. I don't always agree with J.R. and have had some arguments but at the end of the day he is fair and honest about his reviews.

In terms of length, the Supreme line fits me a half size smaller than than the Vapor line too (7.5 in Vapor line, 7 in Supreme line).

JR, DS50, can you confirm the that 2.1 power and ls fusion steel are different lengths? Or is the fusion the same concept as the 2.1 power in that it is longer than standard ls 2 steel.

Been struggling as of late (since I went with the XStiff inserts/fully laced) with stickhandling/passing/shooting.

Turns out, as pointed by a teammate, that I am skating so low that the toe of my blade is pointing up. Looks like the Reflex really works...well, I shortened my sticks at various lengths to see if that helps.

When you creased the M inserts, do you see that as being a common problem, either for people using the wrong stiffness and creasing them because of it, or simply wearing them out in a few months of skating and needing to change them periodically? Or do you think you're set was a fluke?

It is because it wasn't enough, I was using the wrong stiffness. However, it will wear out, that is why replacements are being sold if you want that spring feeling again.

Thinking of the old runner's maxim about having multiple pairs of shoes in rotation so the midsole foams had time to recover between runs, would there be a similar advantage to rotating multiple Reflex inserts through the same pair of skates? Because there is an element of breakdown, I'd imagine that being able to 'rest' the inserts like shoes would be helpful, but then again, maybe what's true for foams isn't true for these composites where recovery is concerned.

Great question, addressed in my update in LTR.

JR,

I was thinking about this whole 'insert crease' thing a bit & not sure I don't get it. Granted you're a heavy guy, but before you were skating in One95 with the top eyelet unlaced because you weren't getting enough knee bend, so

one would think that MID insert should be perfect then, and yet you opted for x-stiff PLUS lacing all the way to the top?! Shouldn't it make the skate much stiffer if all the internals are the same, but the tongue is now much stiffer then before since you've got the most stiff insert?

what gives?! care to elaborate?

I mean the part I don't get is what did they change in the skate to allow this (good forward flex) while keeping the internals the same (whatever that means) and adding a stiffer tongue?

Thanks!

It's actually quite simple.

Lowered eyelet in the TO = a little bit higher than where it was on me on the 95 with unlaced. Coupled with the fact that the insert is adding spring/responsiveness, it's better.

I was in my LHS to get my One95's baked and they had the TotalONE's on display. Wow night and day difference between the weight of my One95 and TotalONE's. Those things were light as hell. They look great but $800? eh

So I got to skate in all the new Bauer gear yesterday at their Demo, I was very impressed with the Totalones fit right out of the bag- lots of forward flex with the mid-stiff insert and super light. I used to use the one95 and the totalone is without a doubt a huge improvement. The other product I really liked was the x:60 gloves which have amazing feel and give your wrist full mobility

I have been using X:60 Pro gloves with the Pro style digital palm since December. They are perfectly light, taper well around your hand, provide great protection, and the mobility is awesome. It is ok not to like the look of them but the feel is phenomenal.
