JR, do you still go tongues out and just dont flop with this new tongue technology?

how do you think that will transfer to the pro level?

Nah, I put in the thread that floppers shouldn't bother.

There's enough flexibility not to.

As far as pro goes, and I'll get flamed for it, but I don't think you'll see it much.

They'll want the felt tongue they wore for years and years.

Well then, it's all JR's fault. JK..................

Actually, if a skate launch were to be delayed due to something I had discovered, that is a compliment. I've had running changes, never a delay.

Quick update on custom order skates:

ONE95 are no longer available in custom make up. Certain materials are no longer available to build the boot.

TotalONE orders can be submitted on 2/15/10.

I had a special request and needed some custom skate info from Bauer. This information was confirmed to me this morning. I just wanted to pass it along to interested parties.

Carry on.

Do you know if One100s will be available for custom orders? I know they normally only do the top end skate, but I dont really need (nor want to pay for) the TotalOne and I just wonder since that will be such a special skate, if they will allow custom orders on the One100.

ONE100 is not available in custom.

The Bauer pro players at the summer skate/product test launch used Reflex tongues in their TotalONE skates. The pros used the skates with Mid flex tongues only. I asked about this in October at the Bauer meeting.

Huge mistake if one100 isn't available in custom imo. Unless with the TO you can get the one100 tongue, then it isn't that big of deal, but still kind of, because it is an extra 200 bucks. Unless ofcourse you can order it with ls2.1 or ls2 steel to make costs go to 700-750 range.

Yeah, that is too bad. I can use a custom skate for the sizing and fit issues I have with my skates, but I am far from the level of needing the TotalOne level of skate. I like the Supreme skate better than the Vapor, but I guess I'll be doing a custom Vapor since I cannot justify another couple hundred bucks. Oh well.

While I agree with you that it would be nice if they had some customs slightly cheaper than the TO, I don't see how getting vapors would be a good reaction. If the Supremes fit better, then you should either pony up the cash since you're blowing a huge amount of money on customs that aren't ideal for you, or, you should just buy retail One95s or something cheaper. Fit is king, so IMO you should only go custom if the skate is exactly what you want because it's damn expensive. Why spend $600+ on a skate that's not absolutely ideal?

Well, from what I have been told, the custom route will account for the differences in fit between the skates. By building to my measurements, the Vapors will have the correct heel width, the proper volume and instep depth and width, so in other words, I can get a Vapor boot that will fit similarly to the Supreme.

Out of the box the extra width and volume of the Supreme work for me, but if they build to my foot, then that doesnt really matter.

We'll see, the shop guarantees they'll be right so if not, we'll go to plan B. Trust me, I'm not taking something that wont be right for the kind of money.

My LHS thought that the price they were going to be selling the TotalONE for was $699 and that Bauer had decided to change it to that from the $799. Anyone heard anything about this?

That is not a discussion I ever heard ( to change it from $699 to $799-- it was $799 when I first saw it back in sept ).

That LHS is probably trying to make sure they sell out of all their stock. Even with the 800 price tag, i doubt many shops would have that kind of problem, unless they're too small. Come Christmas I'd guess there will be dads calling every shop in NA to find if they have a certain size left, so if i were them i wouldn't worry about selling them chearper to get rid of them, they'll sell.

Curious here: for the kids that need to have their flop and swap out the tongues of this skate for a supreme tongue, will that not take away from the entire purpose of the skate? I mean, it will still perform but won't it just be the same as a one100 then?

Well, yes, and no. You'll lose some of the forward flexibility when you swap out the tongue, but the TO and One100 boots are different.

the TO boot is slightly lighter than the one100, and fusion comes stock. But depending on where you are, you could probably just swap your LS2.1 for fusion for an extra 60 or something, so you'd get one100s with fusion for 660. Rather than the 860 its going to cost to get one100 tongue installed on an TO.

JR, DarkStar, I haven't heard either of you mention the tendon guard on the boot. Bauer talks about how it is flexible to increase the range of motion. I have to wonder, is it stiffer than the one90 and softer than the one95? And more importantly do you notice it when you're skating?

I agree with JR on that description. On ice, I do not notice it. I wrap clear tape on the bottom of my shin pad so that the tape is where the tendon guard meets the boot. I don't want the tendon guard middle or higher taped to the back of my calf.
