yeah No kidding. I can honestly say I've never watched a game because I wanted to see Sidney Crosby.

Not sure how you wouldn't want to watch one of the most talented players in the game today.

Seeing Crosby jammed down our throats by the media whenever hockey is remotely involved puts a bad taste in some people's mouths; including myself. Can't stand seeing the guy anymore.

Agreed, He isn't even pleasant to watch as a person. All his ridiculous P.C and NHL friendly interviews and the diving and complaining on the ice. No thanks.

If it means anything I don't mind Malkin.

I agree, his diving and complaining is the absolute worst. It's a shame that the people that don't watch hockey have to view Crosby as the representative.

Not for me, but envy and jealousy are part of the mix, whether anyone wants to admit it. To each his own but not watching Crosby is a bit silly given his talent level. JMHO.......I may not be an A-Rod fan but when he is at the plate, I want to see what happens..........

i can understand why people got turned off to crosby for the first year or two he was in the league - but he has outgrown alot of that stuff now.

malkin on the other hand is hilarious - he has such a weird sense of humor

I don't have another reason to hate him, and I never said I did. I just wish that people that don't follow hockey would be able to see players other than Crosby.

Mark my words, Matt Bradley is going to be the star of this HBO thing.

If you are not that familiar with him now, it's because he is just a grinder. But he is smart, funny as hell and a quote machine.

Here is some of his comments on learning of the HBO thing

Not really, both these teams are stacked with talent and IMO the Malkin/OV thing is better than the OV/Crosby thing. It kinda sucks a little since they kinda made friends at the ASG but there were a few games were Malkin and OV looked like they were trying to kill eachother.

At any rate, no matter what happens this should be a great game, I hope the weather holds. This is my biggest fear..

Looking forward to the HBO series and double thumbs up on a hard knocks type of deal for the NHL

Yes, really. This isn't being marketed as Pens vs Caps. This is Crosby VS Ovechkin, just like it's always been. The whole idea behind giving the Pens another WC so fast was it appeals to the mass, not so established hockey fan. If either of them get injured, you can bet this game will be lost on a lot of people.

You and I know both teams have tons of talent, and it's going to be a good game regardless, but Joe Schmoe down the street might not.

Nothing different from what any of the other sports do. Does the casual NFL fan know more than just Brady and Moss on the Pats or Manning on the Colts. You bill the game by what the fans know. How would you really expect to market the Winter Classic to the masses, Bradley vs. Staal.....no, not Eric the other one..........no, no, not Mark....the other one.

When I opened this thread, I saw the Malkin picture and half of the 2nd one. I thought to myself, 'hey, now those are some sweet WC/possible 3rds.' Theeeennnnn I saw the bottom half of the jersey, and i wanted to puke. The baby blue as the collar and shadow of the lettering is awesome. but WTF were they thinking with that striping? If they moved it down to the bottom of the jersey and only had like 2 stripes It would have been better. To sum it up = Blaah!
