CCM U+ CL Skate

Recommended Posts

JR, is there a way to order skates without the holders and steel? Or would that only be custom?

That would be custom, including the up-charge. Would be better to buy normal skates, change the holders and try to sell the old ones online.

Disagree completely. Have them custom...and either pre-drilled for the holder you want, or not mounted at all. Why would it be better to have holes drilled for a holder you don't want when it impacts the strength of the composite outsole and you have to fart with epoxy to fill them?

You may want to listen to someone else....or listen to a person that has had the last 4 sets of skates done the custom route.

Can you put in orders for customs right after the release or sooner? I am saving cash to order a custom pair but this may add a new twist on my choices.

Cool. That sounds better.

Talked to my LHS today about the new U+ CL skate. First off, they are a dealer with Bauer as their main line. They said that CCM just has seemed to lag the past several years while Bauer keeps upping the ante. They still have several U+ Pro's and are not sure if they will even carry this new skate come October. Hesitant due to slow selling CCM skates and quality issues with them in recent years.

I have had nothing but good experiences with CCM, they were really understanding when I lost the barcode to my skates for a free stick. The quality on my U+ Pro reloaded's is great and the skate itself is probably the nicest I have ever worn.

Everyone at the not so local LHS in Oakland that I go to is really excited after seeing these skates! They are already planning on adding to their collection.

I can't comment fully on that - I handled the skate 6 mos ago.

Got to see it again today.

It was a lot more like the x60s than before. since this skate can actually feel nice right out of the box unlike the U+, I except sales to be much higher than the U+ skates. Especially with that 12... ;)

CCMs finally getting their shit together.

I certainly hope so. Aside from my current One90's, I've always skated in CCMs. I'm looking forward to trying these on.

Just the looks or is the fit more like the 60s (less volume, more heel lock)?

Both. The quarter package actually isn't a straight vertical wall like the pros. This thing fits out of the box the same as the 60s (i tried the CL on with new 60s on my other foot). For me atleast it was a great looking skate that had a fit out of the box to back it up. The mold on it is basically their version of the bauer bumps.

The only reason the pros sold like crap is because of the fit out of the box. They've fixed that with these skates. Bauer will almost always out sell everyone, but ccm is definitely taking away business from them with their holiday release.

Mold? Bauer bumps?

their mold of their foam in the quarter looks like the bumps that bauer has in their quarter. i don't know where our catalog is so i can't use technically correct terms, just going off from what i remember.

Raganblink - Did the U+ CL you tried on fit the same shape foot a X:60 would or is its' fit more like a Supreme, RBK, Easton or other brand skate's fit?

Id say they were closest to stealths if anything. but with the 360 fit they say these offer it sounds as if almost any variety of foot can fit in them comfortably. My bosses foot is ideal for vapors and he loved the fit.

1/2 sounds about right. ha. but a huge improvement over the pros and reloadeds. saying that, i still expect them to sell better. (not saying much though lol)

CCM/Reebok can try and build the lightest, fastest, best looking pair of skates out there, but, if they don't fit it won't matter.

CCM once had their own fit, one that was really good and had a clientele to back it up. They pissed on their clientele and now have to just about start from scratch. I will be interesting how many they will woo, especially since this doesn't appear to be even 1/2 the skate that the Bauer is...

Pardon me but what do you mean by that?

I didn't know the reloadeds were poor skates. I understand the first u+ pros were bad, but I thought they fixed the problems with them in the reloaded edition.

little more explanation to "huge improvements" over the reloadeds?

I thought the reloaded were a great skate. I'm glad that rbk was out of 9k's for warranty replacement and sent me reloadeds instead.
