You know what, I do feel that 300 bucks for a stick is a really steep price, but do you guys know how complicated it is to actually make (and mass produce at a profitable cost) a decent stick with composite materials, let alone one that "performs?"

The fact that Bauer, Easton, etc have done it at this level is really impressive.

If you could actually have had a glimpse at how these things are being made (and I would love to too), I think a lot of people here would appreciate the price they sell at right now.

(I assume Junkyard, and some others here do have a grip on the manufacturing process, no?)

It's a really big problem with composite materials; they do perform really well idealistically, however at the same time it's hard to justify the cost it consumes.

Just look at all the problems they're having (had) with the 787, F35, etc...

Not to say hockey sticks can compare to rocket science, but still, you get the point.

I think the R&D part of the process and the design process could incur large charges, but once the design has been shipped out, there's nothing else for them to do. It's not like a car where there's preventative maintenance we as consumers have to buy, and parts and tires, etc. In essence, we're paying for the marketing and design costs of sticks, and not so much the actual physical entity that we use. There's no way that 450g of carbon weave and foam can be worth 300$. Is that right? Well, yeah to a point, companies have to make money and make up for their expenses. However, at what point is it ridiculous? I think buying last year's technology and materials for 250+ dollars is silly, they should have already made a profit off of those sticks, and the price drop should be much more from yers to years. Thats just my thoughts.

Not even the APX can make Heatley a better skater....

Is Bauer doing custom colorways on the stripe on the APX?..looks gold on that pic. Similar to CCM w/CL.

It's the normal color way from what I can see.

I wonder how long it took for him to realise his jersey's inside out...

They were all wearing their jerseys inside out. There must be a reason for it.

Could be something to do with not allowed to be having organized team practices, etc yet. Players union rules maybe.
