Saw this on the Spittin Chiclets IG. New Vapor 10s??? Maybe a limited edition like the 692 Tacks? Anyone know anything about these?

They look like a Bauer boot that has been painted by a third party to me. I also wouldn’t imagine Bauer would launch something like that in Europe and not N.A.

These refreshes keep enshittifying the cosmetics of iconic skates. 652, Air Accel (not “Excel” like @justdohockey posted last week) Elite, Vapor 10. They just look awful compared to the originals and today’s skates. Any other available option would look better.

Brands are running out of ideas for cosmetic design. There is only so much you can do to a hockey skate to make it look unique without adding too much weight or providing a diminishing value. Even brands like TRUE are going to start removing the "jewel" from most of their skates moving forward. I think a graphics/color package is really the only thing they can do to "spice" things up and with CCM going down the road of "retro" for skates, and Bauer doing itfor sticks, I would imagine they are now looking to do the same for skates.

But what about the PE acquisition? Can you share some links to that? I tried searching but nothing comes up. I can only find articles on CCM’s sale last year.

The 501’s look more like a Nexus skate volume wise .. the white/silver 301’s does indeed look terrible though.

After many years off and time away from MSH, we’re back. Looking forward to getting back out there (albeit the holders are coming off and inline chassis will be going on), but here’s the new 2025 SVH.

I like how the tornado is only on the outside. I hated when companies started putting logos on the inside and outside of skates. Made it more difficult to quickly glance and know which boot was the left and which was the right.

So what’s the deal with the facing? Or how did they make it easier to get on/off while still keeping the wrap True’s known for?

The only knock I have is the location of the "true" on the holder. It being right above the writing on the back of the steel makes it looks too busy in that one area. Overall, the boot still looks the same aside from the facing aesthetics, but that's how it is with all companies I guess (looks overhaul but very minor "tech" tweaks)

I am glad true came out with a polished dlc though.

Are the holders still symmetrical? Or are they the same bolt pattern as Bauer and CCM now?

There is definitely more space around the top of the ankle to accommodate getting your foot in easier. I’m having trouble with the left boot so I definitely want to flare it out a bit but Pavel Barber had a video up and it went on as easy as any skate. Hoping with use mine will get that way but as of now, it’s still a pain in the ass.

The holders are still symmetrical.

Still rocking the original True SVH customs and still love them, but man, True skates still look ugly.  You would think after all these years they would finally have a good looking custom boot.  I get fit is paramount, but....

A few tweaks would go a long way. It's the details they can't get right. The base of what they have is good enough. It just lacks the necessary finesse and understanding of the precedents.

I spot 3 major design areas that could use refinement - 1) the toe cap, 2) the holder, 3) the carbon fiber bulge at the heel of the boot.

But like I said, I'll take functionality in a skate over design any day, but don't think the two need to be mutually exclusive either.

But like I said, I'll take functionality in a skate over design any day, but don't think the two need to be mutually exclusive either.

1) what would you change about the toecap? Sleeker design? Not as tall? The thing is, the toe cap is essentially a sleeve that goes over the one piece boot. It's not a traditional toecap that provides structure to that part of the boot. Well maybe it does but not to the degree of other skates. Trues cf shell encompasses the entire foot including the toe areas and stops about an inch up. The design of the toe cap also allows for the tongue to be adjusted allowing for people to reduce or increase volume depending what they like.

2) the holder is brand new. Some will like it and some won't.

3) the bulge at the back of the heel is the shape of the individuals heel. How would you like it shaped? If they made it a generic shape that would take away the custom aspect of the boot. If they added layers above the bulge to smooth it out, that would add unnecessary weight at the cost of aesthetics.

I guess ultimately, if you are getting custom skates, you're generally at a point where fit is paramount over anything else, otherwise you'd be rocking retail skates.

Imo, the esthetics of the true customs have come a long way since they debuted in 2017.
