I don't think people are concerned about germs. They just don't want to step into a puddle of water.

Exactly, a lot of nonsense in this thread. The study is clear in its methods and some helmets are clearly dog shit. Preventing concussions is not an easy job and not exact science, but doing a study like this and validating some of these helmets is a great start. They use clear definitions and clear data points that you can measure. Saying that they do not apply in real world is nonsense.

Germophobes would avoid a sport where people spit and shoot snot rockets onto the ice.

For me it's like 99% water/ice on my feet, 1% germs. It's a locker room; the second you walk inside like 9 billion germs slap you in the face.

If you compare the "wear" on trues Bauer and CCM, there will definitely be a marked difference. Also how a product is able to withstand wear will also determine overall durability over time. Ie a skate that can resist skate blade cuts/gashes better will have better overall durability. Same goes for ability to withstand blocking shots etc. I'm not arguing that over time due to the nature of the sport all equipment will wear down. But how fast something wears under the same/similar condition is in fact due to it's durability.

Wheels are labeda grippers with the decals wiped off with paint thinners, Chassis is 4x80 with a size 4.5 boot, Last ones i made were 3x80 on a 3.0 boot. Middle 2 wheels are 2mm rockered. Chassis is my own design/manufacture. Axles are a solid 8mm alloy through bolt with a m5 titanium torx screw retaining

wow what size wheels are those? perhaps the photo is misleading. is that your custom chassis? ive always dreamed of an 80-76-80-80 chassis that was lower than all setups and slightly shorter wheelbase. second wheel from front would be the 76.

I have seen so many Olympic gold medal figure skaters train and coach at my rink since 2001. The best skaters in the world can teach hockey players a lot about edge control, balance, power skating(figure skaters keep their skates on the ice through most of their program) and skating efficiency of motion. Elite figure skating coaches can recognize the tiniest flaw in their skater's technique. A friend of mine is a former NHL linesman that used to work with a figure skating coach every summer deep into his career just to maintain his edge control and remain at that top level. The best skaters in any rink are the figure skaters, not the hockey players.

On top of the edge control and balance, the amount of power that figure skaters can generate is impressive. And they're doing it all with a much softer boot in the ankle than a hockey skate.

Speaking to a mate who has a pair, he's kept his quite tight still. I'll try that until I'm used to them. Glad I went with the boot conversion though.
