3 pointsThere is no logic in this statement. If others don’t have data then the new player doesn’t need data? Come on... They are implying they reduce concussions, show me the evidence. I remember when people were touting concussion reducing mouthguards (there was a lady on here years and years ago making that argument) with no evidence. If you make a claim and then charge a premium, I want some data. Even data that is debatable is better than nothing, especially if the data is looked at without an agenda.

2 pointsThe play-in round is going to be awesome. 5-6 games a day starting between 9AM and 7:30PM PT. Gonna need to put a TV in my home office!

2 pointsIt's EXTREMELY frustrating, especially now that we're seeing businesses shut down not because of the virus but because of the morons refusing to wear masks and do social distancing.

1 pointMerged into the existing thread where we've already been discussing these.

1 pointhttps://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-stanley-cup-qualifiers-exhibition-games-schedule/c-317433568 We get a couple of games in late July. It will be nice to have hockey (and basketball) back. Enjoyable having European club soccer on in the background while I work from home.

1 pointWith the shutdown of the league, the FT3 Pro didn't make much or any appearances before it's scheduled release (look forward to being corrected). That being said, the FT2 stick didn't have a long shelf life in the show as it seemed like a lot of non-ccm guys stuck with the Jetspeed up until March. Seeing them already marked 30% puts them in a category with the AS1 stick. This pic included shows a lot of goalies jumping over, or at least trying Lefevre gear.

1 pointI think the best lesson learned here is to try on everthing until you find a few that seem like contenders. Then, try those on again. Then, do it again. Repeat until you have eliminated all of the fits and sizes. I even recommend trying on multiple brands of skates. CCM may fit better than Bauer and vice versa. It kills me when players come into the store and request a Vapor/Jetspeed becuase they think they are slow if they wear a Supreme/Tacks. Damn marketing ruining people minds! The player then tries on only two pairs of Vapor skates and even when we tell them they are in the wrong fit, size, width or skate mode they insist its the perfect fit for them and wont accept any feedback. We bake the skates and then 1 month later they come back with a pissed off parent saying the skate doesnt fit the player properly. I then show them I have it documented in our systems notes that we recommened to them that skate fit was wrong and they wanted the skates anyway.... This is why I have always liked CCM offering that 90 day satisfaction guarantee. It really bails out shops like our in situation likes this.

1 pointMine weigh 983g per skate in a size 7.5. Thse are custom skates so they have clarino liners, added foams and I also use Flare steel. Just holding them in hand vs the retail skates you can feel they weigh slightly heavier. The skate is very stiff. Significantly stiffer than the AS1 unless you had previously ordered customer AS1 skate before and requested the X-Stiff or XX-Stiff option. You can alter the stiffness options on the skates at the following sections: The comfort guards help a lot. I actually went with the enhanced comfort pads which add an extra 3mm. Toe box is fine for me. I still use powerfoot inserts in it. Some people say the new XS tongue created some pressure for them on the tops of their toes where it joins the toe cap. I dont have this issue. Bottom of the boot is no thicker or thinner than the previous year. Before molding the skate it was insanely stiff. Once baked it becomes much more pliable and thermoformable. I think these actually are more thermo reactive than the AS1, very similar to the FT2. I would not stand while baking them as you put pressure on the eyelets and will likely damage the boot. They smell expensive.

1 pointI personally never liked the open shield set up, skate on a dirty rink and the dirt always seems to get into the bearings. I prefer the Swiss setup with a rubber inner shield, removing the rubber shield is dead easy and it keeps the bearings clean for longer.

1 pointCurious why you didn’t try Fit 2 if you’ve been skating in Supremes for the last 7 years. Fit 1 is lower volume like the Vapor line. If the Supreme line fits your feet I would think you’d gravitate toward Fit 2 first. The fact you didn’t even try this fit before buying the skates doesn’t make any sense? at this point talk to the shop and see if they will exchange them

1 pointMight be wrong but my impression is he is referring to length and not width. My experience with the new Fit system and 3D Scanner is that it has been pretty accurate when it comes to size. Often however, folks can't get their foot fully seated into the back of the skate and it feels too tight for them lengthwise out of the box. When the skate is baked and the foot is fully seated in the back of the boot. the length is now fine. Preference as to how one wants their skates to fit also needs to be taken into consideration.

1 pointI learned hockey outside on roller blades, and only played on asphalt with a ball from middle school until intramurals in college. Before quarantine, I hadn’t skated outside in 12 years, and hadn’t purchased outdoors wheels in 15. Was fun to set up bearing and wheels again! I used to be SUPER comfortable on roller blades, and I’m kinda back, but haven’t regained stopping. I used to be able to more or less “hockey stop” on roller blades or do that power slide. Now, I just do hard turns and pray to break speed. I took a page from Vet88 and have been skating with my laces undone. Not sure if it will translate to ice at all. We’ll see!

1 pointBearings are generally a matter of debate amongst players that I know. Some say it doesn't matter really, others say it makes a big difference. IMO the most important thing is that the bearings be serviceable so you can clean, wash and lubricate them. I personally have not found a big difference in bearings so long as they are clean and well maintained, so I just get the cheapest bearings that are serviceable and I clean them when I rotate wheels and wash/lube them every so often. Good technique, strong skating, well-fitting skates and the proper wheel make much more of a difference for speed, agility and control. Re the quality of Konixx, I think they make excellent wheels. I'm sure these bearings are good bearings. Despite the marketing, I'm not convinced that good bearings translate to a better or faster skater.

1 pointUnless this pandemic runs its course (herd immunity) or a vaccine is released very soon I just don't see how anyone in the US is going to be playing hockey for much longer, regardless of what age or league. The covid numbers are going off the charts and at some point you are either going to have to admit that the country has given up on controlling it (and go into self isolation as best you can until it washes thru / vaccine arrives) or go back into lockdown. When I see this kind of crap going on, I just wonder wtf... https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/coronavirus-us-man-dies-after-attending-covid-19-party-thinking-virus-was-a-hoax-2261601

1 pointSo I took the time to go try on the FIT 2 & 3 between the Vapor 2x Pro and the Supreme Ultrasonic & 3S PRO. I can't really get my feet into a fit 1 so didn't even bother with those. The tongue does play into how the skate feels based on trying a FIT 3 Ultrasonic vs a FIT 3 in the 3S PRO. The Ultrasonic tongue is much better than the previous 2S PRO but it definitely does take up more space, in terms of volume compared to the more standard 3S PRO tongue. When I tried on the 32 PRO, there was less press over the top of my foot versus the Ultrasonic in the same spot due to the tongue. I could really feel the Reflex segments in the Ultrasonic. Overall, the new supreme has more volume in the curved section of the boot or between the instep and ankle area compared to the previous Supreme and even Nexus line. There is less volume in the front half of the skate compared to the Nexus but part of that is also due to the new Toe Cap. I'd agree with the assessment that it's a slightly wider Supreme EE (Nexus D) but the heel area is definitely no where near as wide and cavernous as the Nexus. I'd call FIT 3 more like a Nexus width up front, mid section is like a supreme EE but with a little more volume, and the heel/ankle area is like a Supreme shape but the ankle and heel padding isn't like an Supreme EE (not as thick or bulky). Overall, for me, heel shape works better than the Supreme EE and Nexus as it seems like the padding is located better and shaped better for my foot. Regarding the FIT 3 between a Vapor and Supreme, they are similar but definitely feel different. The difference is most likely due to the boot cut and overall shape. Even with the asymetrical ankles, I fail the pencil test in the FIT 3 Vapor and pass the pencil test in the FIT 3 supreme comfortably. The FIT 3 Vapor feels slightly more snug overall (at least for me) and has slightly less volume overall... is the best way I can describe it. I'm going to guess depending on the foot shape, the feel difference between FIT 3 (and the other FITs) across the two lines will be more pronounced for some and not for others. I briefly tried on a FIT 2 Ultrasonic and that didn't really last long. The FIT 2 Ultrasonic seemed tighter compared to the previous generation Supreme D across all areas but I can't make much statement as it was an uncomfortable fit overall for me. Side note - the Bauer fit machine put in a FIT 2 but a second scan put in a FIT 3. Using Bauer fit system - it says I have a E Right EE Left forefoot, low end instep, high volume where the foot and ankle meet, medium ankle volume, medium/medium high heel. Length was 6.5 skate size. I like my skate tight and there was no way a FIT2 would even be comfortable for me.
