It's almost nonexistent at this point. There's a few outliers, for sure, but for the most part, we don't see it. We don't even bring in 102/105 flex on booking orders - only on closeout. At this point, I don't think the average beer league player has either the technique, or strength to get what is needed to properly use a 100 flex.

@nystromshairstylist Would you do a lengthy review of them? A lot of members on MSH are curious about Graf's recent work, but not many are confident enough to take the plunge. Some pictures of the quality of construction and detailed analysis of why they're great for you would help potential buyers evaluate whether or not a new pair of Grafs might be for them.

I'm not saying quads are bad, I'm saying they're bad for beginners. I firmly believe that beginners should learn on a single 9' or 10' radius, (9.5'-10.5' dual is ok too). Once they have mastered the basics, they can then try more complex profiles. I don't like longer singles like a 13' for beginners either, because I think it's too much of a crutch and hinders muscle development. In my opinion, asking someone to learn to skate on a quad is like asking a new driver to learn in an 18 wheeler.

I guess they are assuming both countries are going to have open borders when October rolls around.

I don't know how much trading they are going to do. Of course, it's not optimal to be limited to pick one player from each team among an unprotected list and then have cap space to think about. Here's their roster with value per player if anyone is interested. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nhl/news/seattle-kraken-draft-roster-nhl-expansion-picks/1cmaxh0u08qzu1p95xaugxzuwc

You're correct. I was thinking of the Zuperior triples, which have a 20' radius on the rear.

I can't comment on other Graf holders but the nt5000 was well known for its screw issues. The plastic would deform around the shoulder of the blade locking screw, the blade would start to click and then come loose. Tightening the screw only made it worse.

I just recently went down the rabbit hole called skate profiling and started off with a 9.5/10.5 profile. My LHS felt it would be a good starting point and they were correct. Only adjustment I needed was I had to go back and drop my radius of hollow from my normal 5/8 that I used for years to 11/16. Now they are perfect, I'll never go back to non-profiled steel.

I couldn't agree more. IMHO it's a terrible idea to put a beginner on a quad. I've been playing for 45 years and consider myself a very strong skater. The first time I tried a quad I could not do crossovers at low speed, I would literally almost fall down. Im also confused by the blanket claim that quads are better for agility. The fact is that proper technique for a very tight pivot is using the rear part of the blade, so if you've got a 20'+ radius on that part of the blade it's working against you.

I don't even order anything over 85 for retail. If someone wants anything higher than that I do custom orders.

Yea, the roster screams "we want to do some wheelin' and dealin'" haha. We shall see. No way they don't have more changes down the pike.

I got you. I’m in your boat. Picking the puck up is a totally useless skill that has no real application in a game and is pointless to try and learn. Or at least that’s what I tell myself because I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how to do it!
