Great 14U girls games this weekend. Awesome competition, with no games won or lost by more than two points. One new team to the league is comprised of all female Squirt/Peewee/Bantam players, and this was the first weekend all their girls were at home and available to play. Our girls went 2-1-1, with an 0-1 loss and a 1-1 win with the above team. Their goalie was incredible. She was stopping a lot of shots taken on quick passes and the only one that went in was a shot from point where my daughter was screening her and had a tiny deflection into the net. They had 2-1 and 4-2 wins over the other team at the festival. I finally got to see my '03 on the ice for the first time since November as her Peewee schedule has conflicted with our 14U schedule. She's gotten strong. Really smart D player. Its fun to watch her skate and play. I take no credit for her skills, but I feed her a lot. My '01 continues to improve after missing last season. We put her back at D in December and she HATED it. Now she LOVES it. Great backchecking speed and confidence, and she's the team's unofficial "big sister". After losing a teammate for the season due to her concussion, I was more happy than anything to see my girls take some hard falls and keep their heads off the ice. And even more exciting, we got a dog last night. My wife and I have had Labs for 19 continuous years and lost our oldest and last dog at almost age 16 in April. We made it 8 months dogless and the girls begged us for a pup. We rescued a gorgeous, sweet 8.5 year-old Lab mix.

Most places where I've worked, that would lead to zero hours after the second offense, maybe even the first.

People who don't show up for work which causes a delayed opening of the store, then complain that they don't get enough hours.

Hopefully that gets him going! I would love to see him get his goal-scoring touch back.

Nice goal in the first game, not the worst way to start in a new city.

Hey guys. I've been lurking in this forum for a little bit. I'm thinking about starting to play goal. However, I suffered a lower back injury about a year ago that I might be stuck with for life. I also have some knee issues but those are from being overweight at 5'6" and 275. I guess I'm asking if goaltending is hard on the lower back? I know it can be on the knees. I'm also getting back into the game after a little bit of a hiatus so my skating and everything isn't up to where it should be. Should I stick with playing out first and then maybe look at goaltending? Or go for it now? I'm not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated!

Had extra kids almost 4 years ago, and was told that I had to put my hockey 'career' on hold indefinitely. Finally managed to get some time at the rink lately, with the older kid agreeing to give it a try. Back on the ice, having a great time with some of the other guys who are just starting out, and this week managing to finally get some speed and control with edges. Was not too happy with the 5 on 5 scrimmage on half the rink, but at least I got to play. Was then asked to sign up for the league, most likely putting me on a third tier team which would be fun... wife now says best not to get to playing especially since the games are on thursday nights, and training is Sunday morning.

He has to be feeling crappy. Him and Letang were BFF's. Atleast he can enjoy a nice weather city for the first time in his career.

That's awesome! I hope your team plays boring defensive trap hockey too, for authenticity.

The leagues I've done here, the captain would have heard from the league after having a couple of guys run off for abusing the refs. Also, getting a game misconduct for that offense comes with an automatic game or two. It helps when the league will back up the refs.

Broke my collarbone on tuesday due to a blindside open ice hit before I touched the puck. Sucks.

I'm stoked to have moved up and start my first session of B division hockey last night. (Our adult association has A, B+, B, and C...so I'm still a LOOONNNGG way from A) I will NEVER make the NHL--or probably A for that matter--but this is a great challenge. :)
