Ok... two competing concepts for the same issue... Coronavirus! In one corner, hailing from Bauer.. the Bauer Face Shield. In the other corner, hailing from CCM... the CCM Game On Face Mask! Two very different solutions and to me this speaks to the issues we are facing. Below you will find pictures of each but here are the pros and cons as I see them... In the end everyone will decide for themselves what they like better, what their own levels of risk are, etc. Discuss.... Bauer CCM Pros Visibility excellent. Breathability – does not cover the nose. Lightweight. Cons Flimsy clear vinyl. Expected hard plastic. Bottom spaces of Concept III mask remain open. No protection of nasal particles. Only designed for Bauer Concept III mask. Cannot use cage. Pros Covers the nose. Superior protection from transmission Can fit Bauer or CCM masks. Can fit on clear plastic cages or wire cages. Cons Harder to breathe – nose is covered. Impacts lower peripheral visibility. Mask tighter – chin strap may need adjusting. Bauer: CCM

Very good and informative post. Thanks for sharing. The Ccm is probably more effective based on the pics you posted. Nose and mouth are covered, although you said it isn't "snug." Before reading your experience I didn't even consider the potential hampering of peripheral vision with these things. I see on Insta Boston college using the UA ones. I am currently skating w a small number of guys but that doesn't matter, it just takes one numbskull to covidize the group. I'll have to consider the ccm or UA product going forward...

I found moving to the quad helped me with stability. The result of that was I could get to a shallower cut and with increased glide and helped me get more on top of the ice. I wouldn't go back. Very happy. Everyone has to find what works for them and that's the whole point of the profiles and the profiling project. Try stuff, see what works... etc.

Bauer makes the P92 in a Lie 5, for special orders. It's not quite as low as the P88, but is lower than the regular retail Lie 6. Warrior's numbers are all one lower than Bauer, so a Bauer lie 5 is a Warrior Lie4. But it's all subjective anyway since the P88, listed as a lie 6, is significantly lower than a P92, also a 6, and even lower than a P92 Lie 5 or the P28, which is also a 5.

To date the studies done at Brock University on profile, Blade Pitch and Profiled vs not profiled are the most conclusive studies done by the same Professor. There are no independent studies done on Pro sharp profiles. Love to see some.

The UnderArmor mask is great, but can't drink with it. My son uses it off-ice to workout. I've used it to watch games. Very comfortable. The only one I am seeing that would maybe work for drinking would be the ShockDoctor. I'm curious how secure it would be with that design though. Might need to adjust it a lot. My son tried the splashguard again Friday night and Saturday morning. We switched to a bottle with a straw top to let him drink. He still wasn't a fan. Said it fogged and impaired his lower peripheral vision when fogged. And didn't like he couldn't get a finger in the bubble to fix his flow. The top row of holes it blocks gave him access to get in. His hair falls in his face even after we wet it and slick it back. I'm sure he could get used to it and deal with it if he had to, but not mandated for us, so not sure we will force him to use it. It does provide a bit more protection, but not sure it is a huge upgrade from the bubble stock, which I would think is definitely better than a cage.

I'm using Jofa 9060's...they're pretty indestructible and to me they're comfortable. Also using Nexus 2n's...also great, but I can't see the Bauers lasting nearly as long. The trade-off is they're lighter and dry amazingly fast in comparison.

Reviving an older topic to ask if there's some sort of definitive guide to the pro stock shin models out there. Does this exist? Does a pro catalog exist?

Went to the Ottawa Senators equipment sale today. Doors opened at 9am and staff said people showed up at 9pm to camp out. We got there at 9:15 and waited about 45 minutes in line and there was a decent selection when we got in. At the start they had about 20 Erik Karlsson sticks for $100 each, they had about 4 left when I made it through. I thought the prices were pretty good, it was based on a sticker system but Reebok practice jerseys were $20, white RBK/Reebok game jerseys were $20, game and practice socks were $10, pant shells were $20. Gloves, helmets, skates and pants started at $50 and went up to $300.I was able to pick up:4 Reebok practice jerseys (2 white, 1 red, 1 black) $20 each1 pair of away socks $10Mark Stone alternate Warrior pant shell (used) $20Bauer 1N Nexus gloves without the Bauer cuff (new) $75 Also scored my brother in laws stall tag from when he attended their rookie camp last year

The Malung tag is more of a status symbol than anything else. The Chinese-made ones are fine. As stated, the 19k is the latest 7k/xx70, and the 21k is the 9k/xx90. Does the 21k still have the removable calf wing? Before, the calf wing was fixed on the xx70 and removable on the xx90. I had both at some point, and the xx90 just felt like overkill for my style of play. I much prefer the minimalist 3075s that I have, and luckily for me, I have a brand new pair in storage - thanks @Buzz_LightBeer!
