  1. Here's some more photos of my issues. I think I'm going to reach out to them. Do you guys know if you can still email Rob directly? It's obviously been a while. At this point if I just keep doing what I've been doing for 4+ years (using a shoe horn) I'm not super worried about it. I'm due for a new pair of skates in the next year or so anyway. But still worth talking to them. On another note, it's funny that the white accent glue is failing. They look like they're stitched on but clearly not. And one more thing... anyone know what this copper colored stuff is that is exposed when the "leather" is worn away?
  2. 1-2 passes before every skate. Consistency is more important than anything. I want them to feel exactly the same every time.
  3. It’s amazing how quickly things degrade.
  4. Stable 26 might be a good suggestion especially with where she’s feeling the pain.
  5. I’m not sure but I would prefer to not mess with the one skate that fits perfectly. I dunno. Well try thicker socks, then some sort of padding, then buy a pair of 4.5 and a pair of 5 and try those
  6. Don’t forget the worst of them all, SENS
  7. I do not understand why somebody would do that.
  8. Yup, just like that. Or what I was originally thinking of was something like this https://www.icewarehouse.com/Ezeefit_2mm_Ankle_Booties/descpage-EZ2MMN.html
  9. I hadn't even thought of that. The Jr size is $150. That makes it much more palatable as a solution. Yeah, she may. And I agree putting the longer holder on the small skate is probably something that should be done if possible, but if not she'll have to just live with it. Fitting her foot is far more important anyway. Note: She's not a hockey player, this is just for public skating. So I'm not super worried about her performance being affected or anything.
  10. Took my wife to be fitted for some new skates. Did the Bauer scan and she ended up coming up as a Supreme 6D on her left foot and a Supreme 4.5D on her right foot (and recommended 6D overall). Yes, 1.5 full size difference. It still seems crazy to me. Anyway, we went for a skate after baking them and she loves the feel of her left foot but unsurprisingly her right foot is having problems. So, short of buying a second pair of skates (which I’ll do as a last resort but would obviously prefer not to), can anyone offer suggestions? She said the biggest problem spot is on the inside heel area. I’m thinking maybe a neoprene ankle sleeve would be an option, or hell maybe even just a thicker sock. I already ordered speed plates for her because frankly the footbed in these is by far the worst I’ve ever seen in a skate. But I’m not really expecting them to help much. Maybe getting that spot punched out, but knowing the skate is too big I’m not sure how effective that would really be either. These are $199 skates so even if I have to buy a second pair it’s still half the price of what my skates cost so I’m not completely against the idea if it means she’ll actually skate with me.
  11. I’ll move it when I’m back on my laptop. Though I’m not sure what’s being pointed out.
  12. Here's where I posted the original rip. I wonder if they'd be able to fix them still...
  13. So if anyone remembers this far back, when I first got my VH I ripped the Achilles area putting my foot in. Since then, I’ve used a shoe horn to put them on every time I’ve skated with no issue. Well, today I was public skating with my wife and I wasn’t about to bring my 3’ shoe horn. I put my foot in and... rip. So now both of them are damaged. Now, these skates are now 5 years old and while I’m probably due for an update anyway, I want to make these last a bit longer if possible. Of course, going forward I’m going to make sure I use that shoe horn no matter what and have already ordered a small one on amazon to stick in my backpack for public skating. Can anyone recommend an adhesive that would work here? It’s down to the foam itself so I’m not sure if any glue is going to work very well. With where that bit is, you could probably put a couple stitches through it to hold it but I don’t have my industrial sewing machine (yet) to be able to even consider doing it myself.
  14. New wheels for the wife!
  15. All of them are going to drive you nuts at first. Just have to keep doing it and eventually you notice it less and less.
  16. Agreed. Though my first stick when I went back to hockey after 20 years was a Bauer 100+ because I had no clue. I still can’t flex it!
  17. Wouldn’t it be annoying that the width of your skate blade narrows in width with every sharpening? I don’t get the point.
  18. LOL sounds about right. In other related news, we had our first playoff game last night. Their team was permitted a sub because they “might be short”, despite him having never played a game with them before. They ended up with 9, which was exactly one more than we had. The whole thing seemed... wrong. IMO that shouldn’t happen. If you have 5 skaters then you play with 5 and it’s on you to try to get your players to show up. If you have less than 5 then sure you can have a sub, but it’s a forfeit. Getting approved to have a sub when you already have 8 guys is a bit silly. Ended up not mattering though. We won 3-2 with the winning goal coming with 44 seconds left. Our first playoff win in a number of seasons. We were the 5 seed playing the 4 seed (6 teams, 1 and 2 get byes, 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5). At least the overall parity in the league is better this season. The top 3 teams were all tied in points. We were nowhere close to that but at least one team isn’t just crushing everyone.
  19. Seems about right for the top goalie in the league.
  20. Its life’s way of distracting you from the rest of the suck. Maybe? Well, I tried 😞
  21. We really need to add a player to our team who immediately becomes the top player in the league. That seems to be what every team does every season except us. We’re the idiots that keep bringing people up from rookie league instead.
  22. Flex has nothing to do with length. Intermediate sticks should all be the same length.
