  1. I disagree with your second sentence. I have always said piracy is best combated by two things: affordability and accessibility. Give me an option to stream what I want, when I want, for a decent price and it's not worth the effort to pirate. Eg. Yes sure I can go ahead and hit /r/NHLstreams to watch every game, but the NHL.tv package is more convenient and not that expensive so I don't bother. Of course this has worked even better in the music and movie world. Spotify and Apple Music have made it so I can listen to ALMOST anything I could possibly want, any time I want, for a very low price. I haven't pirated music in years at this point. Heck, I'm at a point where it's so rare that I can't get what I need that I will actually shell out money for an album if that does happen. Movies have it figured out for the most part with things like Netflix and Amazon. And even renting a movie on iTunes is affordable. I haven't pirated a movie in a long time. TV has started to get it figured out but there's so many sources it makes it difficult. Hulu and HBO for example are great but I hate paying for both (but still do). They're getting there. I still pirate some TV shows here and there, usually because I don't want commercials (why do I get commercials for a service I'm paying for) because it kills the mood of the show when there's loud, annoying commercials right in the middle of a tense scene. I've been a cord-cutter for years now (I haven't had cable since... 2010?) and at first I had to search for and download a LOT of stuff. Now, almost nothing. Heck, you know things have become more affordable and accessible when I get emails from my private trackers warning me that I haven't logged in in 90+ days. The second part of what you said is true to a point for sure but I like to think (hope?) that content creators are seeing the writing on the wall and instead of trying their best to screw their consumers, they should be finding new ways for people to obtain that content in accessible and affordable ways. To tie this back to sports, I can only hope that at SOME point the "TV deals" that are such big business stop being so lucrative. The concept of a blackout in 2017 is a bit ridiculous. If they need to up the price of NHL.tv to make up for the loss of revenue from NOT watching on TV because they don't have cable, then so be it. I just hope it eventually sorts itself out.
  2. 9-1 loss because we can’t get anyone to show up. 16 on the roster and we get 6-7 a game.
  3. I do, and I am. Again if you have an issue, email them.
  4. It will eventually be fixed as less and less revenue is seen from TV viewership. In the meantime there are other ways around the blackouts ;)
  5. My mind was BLOWN when the VGK first game was blacked out on NHL.tv. Like I said, I get blackouts... but wouldn't it be in the league's best interest to let fans of the other 30 teams check out the new guys?
  6. Wait, they don't show every goal in the highlight videos? The condensed games are all under 10 mins it seems, I wonder if that'd be a better option. To go along with that, I understand the purpose of blackouts but it's 2017... being televised nationally means squat to a person without cable.
  7. Weird. I actually checked my alignment for the first time in months last weekend and it was still perfect. Maybe email them?
  8. For any non-Canadians who don't understand what Downie meant to our country, all you have to do is watch our Prime Minister's reaction to the news...
  9. If your pickup has a different set of rules from the average pickup, then why ask us if you were in the wrong? We can't answer that ;)
  10. I'm going to sound like a dick when I say this but I can't think of a better way to put it that wouldn't require us going in circles. That move screams "try-hard", and in my experience try-hard moves don't go over well in pickup. Now if that happens to me in our pickups, what generally happens is the guy says "sorry goalie, saw the puck loose" which will almost always get a "no worries, all good" response.
  11. Still think you're wrong, sorry. And apparently they do too, which is the only thing that matters.
  12. As a goalie who plays both pickup and league every week, yes you were wrong. There's a big difference between going for a rebound or loose puck, and trying to jam in a puck the goalie is about to cover.
  13. Finding property to buy within budget is almost impossible here :(
  14. Jut found all 900 Koroks. If you know what I’m talking about you know how much of an achievement that actually is.
  15. Funny that I’d completely forgotten that you get paid as a ref. I’m so used to having to pay to be on the ice! I’m sure it’s not worth much but whatever I guess.
  16. Jordan doesn’t like jumping in piles of leaves...?
  17. Don't use photobucket, it's terrible. Use imgur.com. From the sounds of it I don't think the skates did it on their own so I'm not sure its up to Monkey or True to fix it, but I'm still curious to see the photos.
  18. That's basically our motto this season.
  19. Whoa, wearing matching jerseys? I don't think I've ever seen you do that! haha
  20. Graf always had pretty good looking skates. The fitlite and the original Nexus were pretty good looking too. But now it seems like everything out there is covered in red or yellow. I will take a small patch of silver any day. EDIT: Err. not fitlite... the name is escaping me. Had a gold insert or something on the tendon guard. EDIT x2: Ah, FLEXLITE is what i was looking for.
  21. I'm a big fan of how un-flashy they are. No bright colors or anything.
