  1. That would make sense then. Oh well. One should expect him to be playing in the NHL in 2018-19.
  2. I picked the number because of my birth year and Big E. As a Flyers fan, Patty K is somewhat of a sore spot ha.
  3. I've been wearing #88 for a couple of years now for my one team. I haven't been chirped yet. Or at least I haven't heard anyone chirp me. Maybe because I'm just that swell of a guy ha? For what its worth, I do wear #94 for my other team...
  4. No doubt. The reality though: a return > no return. I still don't see why NJ didn't do anything (assuming that it is too late to do anything this off-season).
  5. I feel that NJ should move him for something than lose him next year, getting nothing. Ilya can still play in the NHL. Maybe not at the same clip we witnessed during his time in ATL/NJ, but he is still a legitimate scoring threat.
  6. The Edmonton Oilers have locked up their 20-year-old franchise player, as the team announced Wednesday that its has signed captain Connor McDavid to an eight-year, $100 million contract extension. TSN Hockey The signing we were all keeping an eye on. I don't blame Connor for looking to get paid. I know most people will say it is selfish for him to do so. I say that you've put in the work to put yourself in this position to capitalize on the leverage you hold. It's up to EDM's management/ownership to figure out how divvy out the rest of the money under the cap (which we expect to go up as time goes on). Next up: Leon Draisaitl.
  7. Pretty much I view these new boots.
  8. The Dallas Stars continued to load up this offseason by signing one of the top free agent forwards available, Alexander Radulov, to a five-year contract worth $6.25 million per season. The $31.25 million price tag is the largest contract signed in free agency this summer. NBC Sports - NHL I heard on the NHL's radio station that MTL offered Rads a similar contract. The issue was that with greater tax liability in Montreal, $6.25M AAV in Dallas would be approx. $8.25M in MTL to get the same after-tax cost. It will be interesting to see how Hitch and Rads work with each other.
  9. Didn't know that. I was in the minority when it came to how JVR was viewed here in Philly. He isn't a horrible player by no means but he should be a 'cornerstone' player. Or at least, that's how I've always viewed ha. Could be short-sighted on my end.
  10. Legit point. And it looks the 3rd year of Patty's deal COULD be an issue when it comes time to pay the young boys. By that time, the cap ceiling could be higher and other players could be moved.
  11. Wow. When I first saw this, I had the same response you two had haha. I don't get it. Especially at the AAV. Well, I'd have to imagine JVR is on the move.
  12. Haha I like that. I hear ya. We shall see. It's going to take much more from the Flyers before I buy in 100%.
  13. The Sabres have traded forwards Marcus Foligno and Tyler Ennis to the Minnesota Wild for Marco Scandella and Jason Pominville. The Wild also get the Sabres' third-round pick in next year's draft (2018), while the Sabres get Minnesota's fourth-round selection (2018). This will be interesting to see if we see more trades like this in the next couple of days...
  14. Hmm. Interesting. Maybe Vegas knew that OTT wouldn't bother giving any comp. for protection.
  15. Yea, the username is meant to be of the 'tongue and cheek' mantra given that the Flyers haven't won't since 1975 haha. Sad reality. I was born in Philly and live in the corner of Montgomery Co. that is boarded by Berks and Bucks counties. That is good to hear about the footbeds. I re-heated mine for the first time last night in my toaster oven at 150 F. After about 2 mins, they were ready to go back in my boots. Simple process. I just have to remember to do it before the mold is completely gone. I had pickup hockey this past Saturday morning and to take out the footbeds because they hurt that bad haha. Lesson learned.
  16. How long did you have them? How many times on the ice? I just re-baked mine. I'm huge fan of SF but my speed plates came with my 1X's. I like them. We will see how long they last.
  17. Agreed. There is no rush for Vegas to be good NOW. Build through the draft and free agents will come in due time.
  18. Poor is a bit of stretch (and by no means am I a Kool-Aid drinker). While I also disagreed with the Morgan Frost pick, no way we can know if it is indeed 'horrific.' What do know that Schenn's cap hit is bigger than Lehtera ($5.125M vs. $4.7M). Lehtera's contract ends one year sooner than Schenn's (2018-19 vs. 2019-20). While Schenn was 3rd on the Flyers in pts, 55, and 2nd in goals, 25, 50.9% of his points came on the PP (17 G, 11 A). Last time I checked, no team spent half the season on the PP. He was a PP specialist who didn't put up a ton a goals. Add on top of that, he's listed as a 'C' who mainly played 'LW.' What does that mean? He was somewhat of a defensive liability. The Flyers can get up to 2 additional picks. Per Elliotte Friedman: Conditions on second pick from STL to PHI: top 10 protected, STL has option to push to 2019. If they do so, PHI also gets a third in 2020. That 'second pick' is right now slated as a 2018 1st rounder. The Umberger-Hartnell trade was similar in the fact that the cap hits were almost identical but Umberger's contract ended sooner. Flipula's trade allowed the Flyers to move Streit and (hopefully) provide more room for one of the younger blue liners to come up from juniors/LVP. I feel you in regards to your frustration. I'd say we, us Flyers fans, need to let it play out.
  19. I agree with your OTT point. As with Vegas, we have to remember that it is a new franchise. Mgmt should be as focused on now as it should be on the future. While the pick isn't till 2020, I'm sure McPhee and his people knew that the could get a 'flip-able' player. I don't know if Vegas ever had any intention of keeping him. So to get a 2nd draft pick for a 32 year old defensive d-man isn't too bad. At least that's how I see it.
  20. Yea, you live in a richer demographic than I do ha. I was at the local outlets so its not surprising to see rich people and their rich people toys haha. Teslas are out and about at almost every rink during the youth season. Those 'AAA' parents can ride in style ha.
  21. He was 20th out of 21 goalies selected in the draft. One of 2 goalies selected in the 7th. I have no idea who Ferguson is ha. All I know is if you are selected in the 7th round of any modern-day NHL draft, you're not considered a 'high' prospect. He may surprise us all. I wouldn't hold my breath.
  22. I saw one in person last week. The i8 is a beautiful vehicle!
  23. The Flyers traded Brayden Schenn to the St. Louis Blues for the 27th pick (Morgan Frost), Jori Lehtera and a conditional first-round pick in 2018 during the 1st Round of the 2017 NHL Draft. https://www.nhl.com/news/flyers-deal-brayden-schenn-to-blues-for-jori-lehtera-picks/c-290097928?tid=278542340 A little late on my part but figured it is worth putting out here. I like the trade overall. I was hoping that the Flyers would have taken a chance on either Tolvanen or Kostin but I can't bash the Frost pick.
  24. That's a bit of a stretch, eh ha? That being said, Vegas was expected to move Methot after the expansion draft. Given that he has a 10-team NTC, the deal seems pretty reasonable on both ends.
  25. Yea, I can see that. A little bit of difference I'd say haha.
