Thanks for posting the info, the XF's sound like a perfect upgrade for me from the 100k's, I need a slightly tighter heel & a touch more instep so they will be my next pair of skates in a 9R.

The fibreshield models with carbon fibre shells are getting all the reports of cracking I haven't heard of the low end models that don't use carbon of cracking. If you can afford it get the new 7X4's or 9x4 even the hazrdus as they have a new shell construction & different carbon weave, hopefully they won't crack like the first gen.

Cat 7/9 , fibreshield shells if I am correct.

My sincere condolences to you and your family Besa ,RIP Anthony.

Spotted on insta, True's new holder & next years Hazard or SVH?
-
Did you end up trying the new Pro's on? My current skates are a size 9 R 100k & they fit fairly well with only slight heel lift & toes brush caps, wondering if a 9 taper would work in the XF's.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9sxyvoydke/?igsh=c2Ezdncwc3NvaXhh True posted on insta the only difference between the 9x4 & 7x4 is steel, insoles & aesthetics.

Would those arms cope with pucks from slappers & stick slashes? Maybe if there titanium I couldn't see other metal or alloy that thin in the arms handle hockey abuse.

Ice warehouse lists the 7x4 at 1007 grams & the 9x4 at 1013 grams. I was leaning towards upgrading my skates to the 9x4 but they are priced the same as the XF Pro's & in my opinion CCMs have alot more going for them, lighter, better holders/steel,Fors composite looks like it will stand up to game wear better & the internal padding looks comfortable. They should of kept last year's prices then the 9x4 would of been a more compelling purchase over the stiff opposition.

From what I can see they have added the DLC & new insoles to ramp up the price, that's the only difference between the 9X4'S and 7X4's.

True catalyst vs. hzrdus skates?
Sprungdownunder replied to iceman8310's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Size 9 R is my correct fit, toes just brush the cap on the major brands. I have used 8.5 R in both brands & won't drop down to that size again because of the pain in my big toe. So I was wondering if a 9 in the Trues would end up being too big for my liking because of the thermo moulding properties open them up alot more then other brands. Unfortunately I am in a location that has no Trues & id have to order them online if I wanted them. -
True catalyst vs. hzrdus skates?
Sprungdownunder replied to iceman8310's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I need advice on sizing as I am thinking of moving to the Hazrdus or the soon to be released 9x4's. I always fit comfortably with my big toe just brushing up in the toe box in a 9 regular fit in a Bauer or CCM, 8.5's get uncomfortable on the big toe & they go numb. Would I be right that in Trues you need to size down because of the moulding process? Also I have always skated on 280 size holders going down to a 8.5 would put me into a 272 size holder which is a bit of a concern. Lastly is the Hazrdus more durable then the Cat9 to carbon cracking? Thx for the advice modsquad community 👍 -
Help with old school curve
Sprungdownunder replied to Sprungdownunder's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I had a few of these in the shed & decided to put them to use on the ice & was I surprised! The feel for the puck is a noticeable improvement over carbon for me but there is a weight difference between the two. I'll use them up before I have to spend up on some expensive twigs! -
Anyone know what curve equivalent this koho blade would be ?

Ribcor 100k skate durability
Sprungdownunder replied to Sprungdownunder's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
With pro stock though wouldn't the boot be made for the players foot or is say like a standard size boot with customisations, tongue, liner, holder size, stiffer & so forth? -
Looking at some new skates & considering the ribcor 100k's , they have been out for awhile now so there durability should be well known. When they first came out there was a post which showed there quarter package all cracked up but can't seem to find it, anyone got some experience with them , are they holding up? Are they worth buying?

Anyone try the Powerfly holders yet?
Sprungdownunder replied to pucks_putts's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I asked a player using them recently what he thought about them & he said he didn't notice anything different from LS holders. -
To those who have DIY D3O on their equipment...

If you need more protection for your knees try Smith's knee gaskets the ones skateboarders use , they are a compression fit with padding. -
How's this for a alternative to a cat eye player cage! Vintage CCM half cage
-
You could always fit your own chin cup ,what worries me is if the toe of the stick can fit thru the cat's eye?

Because I am not playing roller for now I won't experiment on wheel combo as the 72/76 is extremely maneuverable in the small area I am skating on. If I was playing on a rink I would definitely be testing the 76/80 but for now I love the medium chassis with the 72/76 set up they are easy to throw around in tight directions in comparison the large O1's feel clunky & i don't enjoy using them. I have had a large R1 before, the medium definitely work better for me. If your using them in competition it would definitely be a personal thing depending on the type of player you are & rink size/surface.

Need a Replacement for Easton Mako 2s
Sprungdownunder replied to TheDriver85's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
They way I took it is his designing a true one piece boot , the holder & boot being one piece. -
Thx for the links , interesting that this clip is a year ago so maybe the D'Cosi skates might come out this year?
-
Recently I went with a medium chassis instead of the large for my 8.5 Bauer's & for outdoor off rink skating I been using 76 rear & 72mm front with the ice like insert as a result it flexes really well & it feels better then my 01"s. If I end up playing roller again I will test that combo because we have a small rink around here & agility over top line speed works better for me. I know the recommended wheel size is 80mm /76mm but 76mm/72mm still works because it's still 4mm difference from fron to rear, reducing the length of the chassis too if your boot size is on the border of the large & medium also allows for more leverage in the rocker, it might work for some skaters.

A few games in now & they feel great no sketchy feeling at all so I did need a adjustment initially, I am yet to loose my edge with these blades by far my favourite runners!
