How should this 3 vs 2 been played?
BenBreeg replied to VegasHockey's topic in General Hockey Discussions
FYI, the developing dmen presentation was by Glen Gulutzan (Dal, Cal, Edm assistant). He started his talk by saying developing dmen starts at the offensive blue line, and now that I watched this on a bigger screen vs my phone, that is the first place this breaks down. The dmen leave the zone by the time the opposite team dman is at the bottom of the circle. Granted, there is zero forechecking pressure (or as ever1 pointed out, no pressure anywhere by the forwards) so that makes it hard but the strong side D could have held longer. -
How should this 3 vs 2 been played?
BenBreeg replied to VegasHockey's topic in General Hockey Discussions
Hard to tell exactly what’s up with the perspective and all white jerseys but the first guy with the puck should have never had that much time in the neutral zone to make that little pass to the guy who carries it into the zone, both dmen just ceded ice. The back side Dman did nothing but back up with a big gap. Cant remember which session from coaches site but a recent session I watched said their d (NHL) play everything as a 2-2 unless the puck is coming through the middle. That means much tighter gap and more direct alignment than the traditional “divide it into a 2-1 and 1-1” approach. Don’t give them time and space, force them to make a good play. -
Why would knee braces be prescription-only? To get insurance coverage would require a prescription but just to purchase?

Mechanical watches actually tend to lose time in higher temps and gain when it gets cold, but it would have to be cold enough for all the internals to get cold and remain that way long enough to gain time.

Interesting story about profiling/sharpening
BenBreeg replied to shooter27's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
There is a video interview of him around, will try to find it. -
Ever see Crosby’s stuff? Old and practically falling apart. On Spittin’ Chicklets I think he said his jock is the same since juniors, which if actually kind of gross but to each their own. During I think the last All-Star game they showed him getting dressed and you could see the repairs on his elbows and shoulder pads which looked to be ancient. He said he hates to change gear.

I have always seen it as a very general starting point, and that the flex would be the net flex, not stick flex. So the flex once it was cut.

Warrior QRE10 now using the Sabre Taper?
BenBreeg replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Seriously, I don't understand how "just because it is so easy to do today" is justification for an adult/professional to violate professional norms. WWPGD is not a good mantra... -
Warrior QRE10 now using the Sabre Taper?
BenBreeg replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
With a basic Google search I found nothing. And just because someone leaked something online doesn’t mean that is free reign to propagate it. -
I have to look them up but there are other manufacturers who make 2x4 and even bigger tiles. I haven’t purchased yet but the fewer seams the better was my thinking when looking into it. Not sure if that holds but I liked the idea.

Don't really see the point other than a very targeted market of golfers who have that kind of money to spend just for the branding.

Just came back from pickup and remembered that last year I had been unemployed during the holidays and had to drop hockey to cut expenses. It reminded me to be thankful for things many people take for granted, like having a good job. i know some people on this board are going through or have gone through some rough stuff and I just want to wish everyone the best today and during the rest of the holiday season.

Why not try some of that orange adhesive remover, it is pretty gentle. Or Magic Eraser or what about just carefully blacking it out with a permanent marker?

Again, there is a reason the basic designs have stood the test of time... At least with the Avs there’s a Simon and Theodore joke in there somewhere.

Tibialis anterior muscle syndrome / shin splints
BenBreeg replied to hockeydad3's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
ART could be an option. Got me through shin splints for a 1/2 marathon. Foam rolling, stretching as Leif suggested. -
The 3D mold is going to mirror the shape of your foot, but not the combination of hard and softer structures, nor can it account for the sensitivities of various parts of your foot in respect to the pressure the skate is applying. And I echo the question, what is the point? A lot of conclusions or suggestions being thrown about based on questionable observations...

Gotcha, I saw that once I clicked over to the site, sorry. But there is no price or option to purchase the basic setup. It shows it above the custom on the page but no price, no link to add to cart or anything.

How accessible is RDH testing? Looks like you can order the physical shims but I thought the value was the process, getting it right. What is their business model? It says it comes with instructions but from what I have heard you talking about it seems like there is more to it (treadmill and stuff).

One point is that in the knife world, there those that are into sharpening to keep their knives functioning and there are those for whom I think sharpening is in and of itself the hobby. Both actually represent a small percentage of people who actually use knives. Most buy cheap knives and use them even when they dull, lose them, or just constantly buy replacement knives. I would assume there are far more people using knives than skates so it does follow that there is more written about knives.

Don’t get the equation that more equals better. Classic patterns will always trump stuff that is too busy to me. Some say lazy, I say restrained.

Agree, those Grafs are for me the best looking skates ever. The all white with the white toe cap eventually look like someone did a bad spray paint job and it is coming off.

Didn’t Custom Tacks have a titanium coating in the early 90s?
