  1. Probably sounds ghetto but I'll wear a thin dress sock for a great fit. Only downside is that it absorbs sweat rather than wick it away.
  2. I had Mega Air 90s too. They had white Tuuk holders. That weird plastic clip on the inner foot was strange. They were awesome.
  3. You'll probably want to do some in-depth market research to see how feasible it is.
  4. Well, it's sports entertainment. It's a business. If the ECHL charges less than the AHL, and the AHL charges less than the NHL, it's because the fans are watching a lower-level of ice hockey. Are team owners devaluing the players' worth? It sound politically incorrect, but yes, they are. If you take women's pro hockey and you compare it to the NHL, AHL, and ECHL, where would it go on the spectrum of ticket prices? You might tack it right with the ECHL, but what about the rest of the population? It would appear from past ticket sales that it should be lower than ECHL.
  5. I think fans of ice hockey see what you just explained. Why would someone pay $15 to $20 to watch the equivalent of boy's midget AAA hockey? It's like they were pricing themselves with ECHL ticket prices.
  6. Almost was in the same boat as you. I rarely buy new skates because they are expensive. I went from a Bauer Supreme 6000 6.0 D I bought in the late 2000s to CCM Jetspeed 5.5 EE (which is now 6.0) I bought a year ago. 5.5 D was too tight. I wear 7 EE or 7.5 D in street shoes. I baked them once and it took a couple skates to break them in. My left foot felt fine after about 4 skates, but my right foot felt tight for about 8 skates. Now, they feel great. I could wear them all day long. I like the ankle/heel comfort a lot.
  7. It is what it is. If they weren't able to sell enough tickets and network air time to support all the teams, then that's that. It's not just because people don't want to watch women's ice hockey. How much money did they spend on marketing? There have been a number of professional men's sports leagues that have ended because of lack of fan interest or whatever other reason. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_professional_sports_leagues
  8. Total joke. But I could see how that could be perceived as poaching. Where there are more than enough players for a multi-arena city, it's not really seen as poaching. There's usually enough business from figure skating, minor league hockey, and men's league hockey such that pick-up hockey is just extra money for the rink to earn late at night.
  9. I don't think the different length blades are interchangeable. The longer blade is going to have a longer holder which is going to have a longer distance between the tabbed pieces of the blade.
  10. They are discontinued, but I found a new one on sidelineswap. My previous shoulder pads are Easton S13 (which is a step under S19 at the time), so the CX has to be better, right? Well, I got them and haven't worn them on the ice yet. Pluses: It's noticeably lighter than my S13 shoulder pads, and any other shoulder pads from the past. More dense padding in the shoulder caps. More stiffer padding over the clavicle area and over the trapezius. Bicep coverage is nice, similar to S13. Minuses: There's an HDPE (high-density polyethylene) piece in the sternum and one over the back. There's no padding under it and I can flex it with my fingers. Seems like less protection than the S13, which has a much more dense piece of padding over the sternum. The medium-density padding around the sides of the sternum piece and spine piece is this foamy stuff, no padding under fabric. Not sure if it is better, but it is thinner and lighter.
  11. So, I got another product from prostockhockey, 14" CCM HG41 player gloves. They look great. There was one cosmetic issue on the cuff of the left glove. They didn't cut the fabric quite right so it looks off compared to the right glove. It's about 2 mm of fabric. Maybe these are quality control throw-aways. Everything else on the gloves are great. It's much stiffer at the cuff than my previous gloves, Bauer Vapor X100 in 14". I thought the Bauer gloves were the bee's knees, lightweight, comfortable, and the palm was soft and durable. The CCM gloves are a bit heavier, but the padding is multiple times more thicker all around. Fingers flex easily. The thumb protective part doesn't flex, but I'm used to a non-flexing thumb guard anyway. Every foam piece has a plastic piece on top of it, even the tiny one on the tip of the inside index finger has one, it's like a 3 mm x 4 mm rectangle. The palm has this funky black surface material. It is kind of rough, but it's not on the inside of the glove. These are "tapered" fit gloves so they are tighter around the hand than classic fit (4-roll). I'm really impressed with this glove. It is good for those times when low-level beer league guys think slashing your glove is a way to get the puck off your stick. I'm not sure how "old" this model of glove is considering I paid $80 for them. There would be no way I could get a retail CCM glove at this level of protection for the same price.
  12. I bought a pair of CCM HPUCLP player pants from pro stock hockey. Wasn't sure whether to get HP35CX-EXTRA, HP45CX-EXTRA, HP45X, HP35X, HP35CX, HP70, HP70X, HP520SP, or HPUCLX. Anyway, I haven't played in them yet and don't have enough info to provide a full review. First impressions. Coming from Warrior Bonafide pants, the CCM HPUCLP pants are bit shorter. The length to my knees is the same, it's the length going up to my ribs that's shorter. Maybe an inch shorter. The fit around the waist and hips is much tighter with the HPUCLP. I have size medium. The Warrior pants were loose such that tightening the lacing didn't make a difference, I had to cinch down on the nylon belt. When I tighten the laces on the CCM pants, it tightens around my waist without needing to cinch down on the nylon belt. There's a little button on the CCM waist belt to release the grip. It's also tighter around the hips. I have to push these off to get out of them. The Warrior pants would just drop down to my ankles. Both are flexible as I move my legs up and down. The elastic area on the inner leg provide a lot of flex. Protection-wise, the CCM have thicker padding at the thighs, hips, tailbone, beltline, ribs and spine. The Warrior has a bit thicker padding on the belly pad, inner thigh protection pieces, the back of the thigh protection pieces. The Warrior took on hard shots off the thigh pads easily. I like that the CCM has more padding all down the lumbar area to the tailbone. There's three segmented pieces with hard shell material with thick foam pieces, very beefy. The Warrior pants had one tailbone piece with thin padding that equaled about 1/2 the protection coverage of the CCM's. The CCM spine piece is this gray looking shell so it looks "cool" if you are the type who tucks your jersey into your pants. I just play beer league hockey so these are more than sufficient enough for protection, but there are the occasional games where there is someone with a hard slap shot or someone who likes to check you even though it is a non-checking league. Weight-wise, the CCM's are much lighter. I guess that's due to the use of U foam crazy light pieces. I didn't mind the weight of the Warrior pants as I knew it was providing a good level of protection from hits, falls, slashes and shots. Other stuff-wise. The CCM HPUCLP have these suspender buttons which hold the the two-pieces of the pants together. The Warrior were one-piece. There are inside leg zippers and a velcro tab on both pants. Didn't unzip them for the Warrior pants since there was plenty of leg room. Not sure if I'll need to adjust the CCM ones when playing. If you are overweight and have a gut (like me right now), you may not like the fit of the CCM HPUCLP. I'm more used to classic fit pants (because I'm from an older era of hockey) than tapered fit, but I'm more concerned about loose-fit hockey pants now that I've had back surgery. The embroidery on the legs are nice. Looks and feel pro-level, not silk screened. I don't buy new equipment often. The pants I had before the Warrior Bonafides were these Nike Bauer pants from the 2000s. Eric Lindros was still playing at the time, for time-space-equilibrium-alternate-universe reference.
  13. These are 2015 CCM Jetspeeds in size junior 5.5 EE (whose current equivalent are size senior 6.0 EE JetSpeed FT1). My previous skates were Bauer Supreme 6000 in 6.0 D that I bought back in 2010. Before that, I had Micron Mega 10/90 in 6.0 D that I bought back in 1992... Ray Bourque was the face of Micron skates in ads back then. Fit --- 10/10 --- I baked these at home once and it took awhile for them to break in. I played in a league where we had one game a week so it took about three months before they felt good. The right foot felt fine but the left foot didn't feel good until three months later. I guess my left foot is a bit wider. Compared to the Bauer's, these felt great, especially when skating backwards; they didn't hurt my heel. They came with the CCM custom insoles which I put in. Now, I can wear these for a long time without any pain. Blade/Holder --- 10/10 --- The came with the polished SpeedBlades on 4.0 holders. I got the custom sharpened with 8' radius and 1/2" ROH at noicingsports. I came from using Step steel blades on my Bauer's. These had less steel at the toe and heel out of the box compared to the Bauer blades. I don't get any issues while skating in these. I used blue Loctite threadlocker on the nuts after I put the blades back on. Weight/Protection --- 10/10 --- These skates are the lightest I have ever skated in. Compared to the Bauer's, these are exponentially lighter. The old Bauer's had leather in the inside ankle area. These skates have all man-made materials, no real leather anywhere. Durability --- 9.5/10 --- I have only worn these through one whole (beer league) season as I have been sidelined with injuries. Intangibles As short as I've skated in these skates, one of the skate laces have been wearing down but I don't see any sharp edges near the eyelet that it goes through on the left skate, but the right skate lace is not worn down at all. Maybe there's something I don't see. The ankle padding is great and tongue padding is great. No pain with the laces tightened down. I like the top edge padding on the boot. I don't have to wear long socks anymore. With the Bauer's that had a leather top edge, it would wear into my skin. These are so light, I have no idea how the can make a more lighter skate boot unless they make the toe box out of carbon fiber. Conclusion 49.5/50 Not sure if I'll ever switch back to Bauer skates.
  14. Well that's true, it's not cheap. I'm just saying the options of goalie gear are wider than with player equipment. OP has run out of options and is bored. I'm just trying to help.
  15. Gear is just what's needed to play the game. But, if you have hit a true dead-end in player gear whoring... become a goaltender. That opens up an entirely new world of goalie gear whoring possibilities.
  16. So HP35CX-XTRA uses Ufoam and have zippers. What's the XTRA?
  17. Thanks. I can see that since I won't be able to squats or deadlifts or leg presses, my leg strength isn't going to where it used to be in the past. I'm trying to lose weight during my recovery, so I'm not skating around with as much flab and can get speed that way. I am up to jogging a mile in 10 minutes 43 seconds. That's slow, but an improvement compared to 4 weeks ago.
  18. Kind of strange that my doctor didn't suggest that I get physical therapy. He just said I could begin weight resistance training, but start light and listen to your body. I've had physical therapy in the past. So, I started with walking only. When it got to mid-January, I was able to do start fast walking and adding machine-based weight resistance training. Mid-March, I started mixing fast walking and jogging, continuing machine-based weight resistance exercises and I added body weight lifting: push ups, pull ups, lunges and box step-ups. It's mid-April and I've been doing the same things since mid-Match. End of March, I went ice skating to a public skate. That went well, and my balance, stopping, and turning was better than before I had surgery. Didn't go crazy and haven't played any hockey yet. I'm looking to play in October. I have another appt with my doctor and I'll ask him about it.
  19. What is the schedule for the SummerJam? What type of events go on? How much does it cost? Is there a general information page?
  20. Panarin stayed. 20/20 hindsight. LOL. I don't read too much into trade rumors. If someone gets traded or not, then that's that.
  21. I use Itech full shield (or Bauer now). Anyway, I bring a towel and anti-fog spray with me to the bench along with my water bottle, because whatever I spray on the shield doesn't last the whole game.
  22. Do what you think is best for yourself, not for others. I've been hit in the mask with a slap shot deflection. I didn't even have the time to move or put my hand up to block it. The mask was an Itech full shield. I was able to remove the puck mark. That was temporary. Taking a puck to the face would have been permanent.
