  1. Nice skates but I've seen more quality issues on Graf than any other manufacturer in recent years. I don't think country of origin matters as much as you think. I'll stop there as the topic has been beaten to death in other threads.
  2. Bumping an oldie here...can any of the custom gurus confirm that I'm reading this code correctly? These were just given to me by a buddy of mine: To me it reads as 7 1/4D, A heel...Not sure about the T7 (toecap size perhaps?) 41159 as the unique Bauer ID.
  3. Does RBK/CCM still offer the AA heel at retail on any of their models? Didn't catch it in the catalog.
  4. Thanks, looks like they are using the Franchise palm as opposed to the yellow Bonafide X palm, unless literally the only difference is the color.
  5. Mars where did you pick those gloves up?
  6. Agreed. I think these are technically YP19s, before Drury was a commercial pattern and a lot of guys were using the generic pro stock molds.
  7. Picked these up this week and couldn't be more thrilled. 6x Foote Pro Stock Comp T-Flex Blades. Curve is a Drury clone. Nothing has ever come close to these in terms of puck feel for me. .
  8. I'm not going to continue to derail the thread but the "proper" shot you describe has become pretty obsolete and is rarely used at the NHL level. Stamkos and Semin are really the only noteworthy guys that shoot that way and both use modified Sakics, not a heel curve. The blade opening up is more a function of poor shooting mechanics and/or the shaft torquing out on you (See: Inno Novius). Its pretty clear that the reason the toe is stiffer is to generate more pop off the area where Easton thinks you should be releasing the puck (ie, the sweet spot). Given that the sweet spot on a heel curve is on...the heel, this seems pointless to me.
  9. I was being sarcastic (hence the emoticon) as I shoot off the heel and have been using Drury/Lidstrom for 10 years. Assuming the tech actually does what its supposed to, why would having a stiffer toe mean anything to someone buying this stick in a Lidstrom/Getzlaf or Modano/Zetterberg/Camalleri?
  10. So i'm supposed to shoot off the toe with a Lidstrom? Easton is marketing 100% of their sticks toward a shooting technique that probably 5% of players can pull off effectively. The other 95% are either heel/mid snap shooters with no "toe pull and rip" motion, true wrist-roll sweeping shooters, or people who will try to shoot off the toe because their "dual-lie" blade said so and shank everything into the stands.
  11. Jack was it a USA hockey sanctioned game or just pick up? Every kicking incident that I've witnessed over the years resulted in a pretty lengthy suspension.
  12. Unless your foot is shaped like the Titanic I find the Nexus is too wide all around, especially in the heel. The Mission skates also allowed for way more range of motion in the top 3 eyelets.
  13. I wish Bauer would release a skate with the Purefly/Flyweight supplefit? concept. They were a bit heavy relative to today's standards but my god were they comfortable.
  14. The skates generally require a cool down period before use after they are baked. He basically went wild on synthetic ice while the materials were in their pliable state.
  15. From a technical standpoint (fit notwithstanding) the Makos are a phenomenal skate, and I think most of the gearheads here on MSH would agree. However, our population (or people who are overly concerned/interested with the technical aspects of a product) represents a small percentage of the broader hockey playing community, and what I've seen is that the demographic buying an $800 skate is your typical PHEW-type player who is more concerned with aesthetics than function. This is where the Mako fails in my opinion, as I've heard things like "it looks like a rental skate" being thrown around my LHS and local rink. The unfortunate reality is that regardless of performance, concept, features, or fit, people will spend $800 on the Bauer alternative because "its prettier." This obviously isn't a new concept but it certainly applies here. /rant.
  16. NHL players are the extreme when it comes to being a creature of habit. I don't think anyone is making that dramatic of a shift ever, let alone mid season.
  17. X90 = 7.0 = X60? +/- some variance in spec? Any idea what the MSRP will be?
  18. New wheels. Finalized the setup with the tuuk swap this weekend.
  19. If you end up not liking them consider me first in line to take them off your hands. I LOVE the XXX gloves.
  20. What size are your 95s?, I'm a 7 narrow guy also.
  21. Just write what you want in the additional comments section. I requested no stripes on the backrolls and only on the cuff roll and thats exactly what they did for me.
  22. As JR said, those are as retail as they come. Say goodbye to your anklebones as you once knew them.
