  1. He used a 1X in a game at one point this year FWIW. What’s funnier to me is the fact he’s in old Jetspeeds, CL500 gloves, and a V08 helmet while totally ignoring the new stuff that he has on in the marketing campaigns. Same idea as Bauer marketing Kane’s “sick QRT release!!!!1!1!1!” when he’s using an 033 TotalOne from 2010. Most wont get it, but LOL nonetheless.
  2. That scares me as well. How is this any different than clamping the skate after heating it the traditional way? For guys that need to go wider I’m sure it’s fine but for guys that need to go narrower there’s still all that excess material in play.
  3. The profile and shaved toe on the Drury lets you do the same thing (with more control for some given the absence of the toe banana) I’m not denying the versatility of the P28- but let’s not act like this style of shooting was invented yesterday.
  4. Heel curves had no problem keeping up with Sakic et. al. shooting off the wrong foot with the hands out in front. It’s more kool-aid as opposed to a true mechanical advantage here.
  5. Sounds like a One90 height 70k is the move then! Sorry for the meta-PM: back to our regularly scheduled AS1 programming.
  6. Thanks JR- seems odd that they can go higher but not lower (coming from someone who doesn’t fully get the science behind the construction). I guess the solution would be to just go with the 70K which is lower to begin with- though it sounds like the scan tech isn’t ready for the Ribcor and Jetspeed lines unless I’m misunderstanding.
  7. For those in the know- can CCM adjust boot height and stiffness on these as well? The full scan sounds awesome but if I’m spending $1000 id prefer to not be in a ski boot that goes half way up my leg, forcing me to leave the top eyelet undone. I find a lower cut boot that I can lace all the way up provides way more stability (see: One90).
  8. I’ve tried going from Drury to P92 or P28 about 100 times and hate them both every time. Perhaps I should change my name to DefintionOfInsanity019. On the possession game idea- It’s much easier to pass and dangle with a straighter blade in my experience but if you’re good you can pass and dangle with a broomstick. Where the P28 does help I found is in toeing pucks out of scrums and pins along the boards where you have barely any space to pull the puck around someone’s skates as a second guy in on the forecheck, in the d zone as a support winger/center, etc I honestly think guys wanting to rip it like Ovechkin plays into it quite a bit. The Kreps/Samsonov Pro/Easton Euro Banana/Kovalchuk were also super coveted well before P28 went retail. Finally- I think the lie and profile of the P28 is actually more forgiving than the P92 which has obviously been around forever. The P28 also has that flat heel area which has allowed some (not all) heel guys to move over.
  9. Did a 13 year old from the PHEW Facebook group pick the name?
  10. About the same- both feel like I’m playing with only the heel of the blade on the ice and the toe sticking straight up. I get that I can cut my sticks shorter to compensate but I prefer to carry the puck ala Spezza with my hands close and the puck way out in front.
  11. FWIW the P88 lie has always felt higher to me- I have to play with the puck a lot closer to my feet vs. PM9/P106.
  12. Keep an eye out for CCM P19. It’s a shallower, less open P92. It’s been discontinued at retail (old CCM Nugent Hopkins curve) but is readily available in pro stock form via eBay, SidelineSwap, etc.
  13. The only chest pounding I typically come across is people letting everyone know they weren’t dumb enough to spend $299 for a top of the line stick.
  14. There's more blue on the top half of the shaft.
  15. Didn't realize you were "showing off" a grip in your post until I read the description above the image Nice i3!
  16. That's an entirely separate issue.
  17. It should never be about who can skate circles around who. Don't chirp in a friendly skate, period. Hockey is a niche sport, the more people that play it the better, regardless of skill level. I wonder if it would be more popular if people didn't fear the barrier to entry that is being ridiculed by the insecure who think they are better than they actually are.
  18. I like the red accent personally. Clean looking skates!
  19. There's literally no way to test this unless you are doing straight line speed or agility tests with a skating robot. Too much emphasis on personal preference and feel when it comes to skates. You can't really measure comfort and edge confidence with a normalized metric- otherwise Marleau probably would have ditched his 9Ks a long time ago despite being in the top percentile of skaters walking this planet. Some pro drivers prefer the road feel of a Lamborghini, some prefer Ferrari.
  20. I'm sure the answer is buried in here somewhere but I can't find it... What's the best way to remove the orange/silver graphics on the Mako 2 aside from plasti-dip? Specifically, the orange E on the tendon guard, the Easton logo on the quarter, and the silver stripes on the side of the boot. I prefer a completely blacked out skate. Does a Sharpie do the trick with no future maintenance required?
  21. I know- we're both throwing a dig at the "parent" here if you catch my drift
  22. Is Baller hockey a reimagination of Easton tech with Lavar Ball and co as the poster boys?
  23. Not to speak for JR but- Its about respecting the manufacturer's desired launch and information release timelines. MSH has good relationships with manufacturers and has strived to maintain that over the years. Going against their wishes on this front is one way to strain said relationship and lose manufacturer trust as one of their "insiders". Let the other, less legitimate sites leak information at their own peril.
  24. Members worship an orange trimmed skate that literally took piranha bites out of their ankles... ...meanwhile a cosmetic imperfection here is the end of the world. Come on guys. Lets not forget the days of Vapor XXs looking like your dog got to them after a month of normal use.
