Not advocating for one machine over the other. Haven't tried the Sparx fire so I can't compare it to FBV, but I have skated on Z-Channel and felt it had identical glide to that of FBV, but less bite than FBV.

ProSharp US has them listed as a Christmas special for $1490. Looks like you have to shell out another $150 for a carrying bag.

2017 Bauer Hockey Catalogue
mojo122 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2017 Product Catalogue Reviews
Skates have historically been on a 2-year cycle, so sometime in 2018. -
Everyone goes through a rough stretch every now and then. Just ride it out and stick with it...

What you have accomplished since you first started is truly amazing. It's nice that you have recorded your progress over the course of time. -
Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener
mojo122 replied to tamtamg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Would make sense that they consider the feasibility of a commercial grade machine. Once you have saturated the home sharpener market the sales of your units will drop. Of course they may be satisfied with just marketing their consumables, but a commercial grade machine might be a good sell to rinks. Especially complexes that have multiple sheets and attract tournaments. I know for a fact that a rink pro shop near me has several machines just to handle situations when 12 teams are playing at the same time. -
Hope you had a black car previously. Keeping it clean is a full time job!

Just go LS4...

Bummer...good luck. Hope everything goes well.

Sorry to hear that Chadd.

You can easily trim the SpeedPlate to fit. Good scissors and trimming before baking is the way to go.

I skated in them for 2 hours at SummerJam and had no issue coming from Supremes. Pitch was a non factor.

While I'll admit upfront that I know nothing about 3D scanning, just looking at above process I would have some reservations about the scan's accuracy. And PAID reviews are WORTHLESS...

I've skated in custom SuperFeet in the past and really like them so I'd be interested to know how the carbon's compare to custom's after you skate in them for a while.

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

There must be something significant in regards to FBV and BFD otherwise there would be no FIRE with SPARX. -
Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener
mojo122 replied to tamtamg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I don't want to hijack the SPARX thread, but BFD is less than precise compared to FBV. BFD is a scale where a particular dressing can feel within a range (for example, bite can feel like anything from a 1/2" to 5/8") and FBV has multiple spinners equivalent to specific hollows (for example 100/50 = 1/2"). If the SPARX fire ring is closer to actual ROH, then I'd say it's a better system than BFD IMO. -
CCM Super Tacks Skate Initial Thoughts
mojo122 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Skate with the custom insole and see how that goes. Even if it takes up some volume it doesn't necessarily mean that it will cause you problems. The yellow foam provides no support at all so I wouldn't skate on it long term. If the custom causes you issues over time then look into something supportive that is low profile, such as the carbon SuperFeet or SpeedPlate. -
Outside of the skates. If baking new skates open the oven and place the SpeedPlates on the oven floor outside of the skates for the last 90 seconds of the baking process. Insert the right SpeedPlate in the right skate and tie it up. Then do the same for the left skate. Then stand as described in the video for 30 seconds and then sit while the skates cool down.

catalogue review 2016 Bauer Hockey Catalogue
mojo122 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2016 Product Catalogue Reviews
I've only seen black outlined in white on the 1N glove. -
I have 3 sets of LS3 in my rotation and haven't had any issues. I also remove mine after every skate to dry them completely and am currently skating 4 times/week.
-
Go with one skate with the shim and the other without, then see which fit you prefer. They will compress over time, but I wouldn't say significantly. Like I previously posted I attached the shims to my inserts, but don't have them permanently attached to the toecap. My next test is to see at what point I need to replace mine.
-
What I did was to experiment using and not using the shim by not permanently attaching them to the toe box. In the end I wound up using the shim, but I just insert them and take them out with every use. I just prefer to be able to take them out to air dry and occasionally spray them with deodorizer.
