  1. Lets be clear, neither True nor CCM came up with the 'monocoque" concept. KOR was the first to use it followed by MLX and Easton. So it's not their ground breaking technology. If a 1-piece boot gave a skater such enhanced energy transfer and performance ,then True and CCM would be the most worn skate in the NHL. Not going to pick on shop folks, but just because a shop has a Brannock doesn't mean they know how to use and read it correctly. Barefoot on the Bauer 3D Scanner with a slight knee bend places me in a 7EE Supreme with my EEE width feet. Profit for me is a 6.5EE, but knowing that a skate will be its' smallest when new I wear a 6EE because it's going to get bigger over time. Your 12EE Nexus has way too much volume for your foot and since it's too long your foot isn't sitting in the skate where it should be. I've found the CCM Scanner to be too big as it consistently puts me in a 8EE Tacks and I can fit in 6EE. Someone else that I know who skates in a 9.5D Vapor has his come up at a 12D RibCor. Haven't been scanned for Trues and probably will never be. Just not for me.
  2. I don't work for Bauer, but looking at their warranty stick page it also says the following: "BAUER reserves the right to substitute if the requested model is not available. Please note the one-time replacement stick is not covered under warranty." Seeing that I would say they are within their discretion of sending you a stick of similar value. Having worked in hockey retail the majority of broken sticks that I have encountered are not the result of a manufacturing defect.
  3. I'm looking to try the 0 and see how it compares to the 1 I'm currently skating on.
  4. It hasn't launched yet, hence no information. Everything will be clearer when it launches, if not sooner as the date approaches.
  5. I agree completely with you on this. Supreme felt is my all time favorite...
  6. "MyBauer". My guess would be a customized skate and not a true "custom" skate.
  7. There are products that add a protective layer over the clear coat paints on cars called coatings that act as a sacrificial barrier. Not sure that they would work on plastic though.
  8. Manufacturers are catering to the interests of the consumers and not to the minority membership on this forum. Consumers are constantly looking for new tech and spec because the marketing folks have done a good job of brainwashing them into thinking that new and improved will give their son or daughter a competitive edge. In addition kids grow up idolizing their favorite player who is playing with what looks like a 2N Pro, QR Edge, or Super Tacks AS1 even though they may be using something altogether different.
  9. If we're just comparing top end models I think the weight makes more of a difference when it comes to skates over sticks when you look at the cumulative effect over the course of a game or practice. I'm just saying that I'll take a 425 gram balanced stick any day over a sub 400 gram unbalanced one for the performance factor. I agree with you that everything today is a weight game. Look at Bauer's Vapor shoulder pads for 2018. Incredibly light yet somewhat "cheap" feeling to me.
  10. I'm surprised they didn't stop the practice as soon as they partnered with Step for their holder and steel.
  11. That's the weight for the 2N. They have the 2N Pro listed at 410 grams. Balance over weight all the time.
  12. Try a polish made for plastics with the buffer first. Wet sanding and polishing is more for leveling scratches or bringing cloudy headlamps back to clarity. Not sure how it would work on the skate toe cap. Other option is try it on an old beat up skate and see what the results are like.
  13. Congratulations! I know a guy who was a paramedic and turned it into an awesome 35+ year career. The job can be stressful so make sure you take care of yourself and your partners. Hopefully you'll work for a outfit that invests in their staff and has a good CISM program in place. Good luck and go save lives!
  14. Guess it was only a matter of time before CCM brought the one-piece boot to the Ribcore line. Not digging the graphics from that one shot.
  15. Tydan steel looks pretty good from what I've seen of it. Just not sure the DLC is worthy of the $150 price tag. As for the LS5 it's too early to see how well it will hold up to heavy game use. I've been skating on LS3 coated by TS Labs for a few years now and really like it's performance and how well it's held up.
  16. 2N Pro should feel different than the current 1N since it will have ACL like the 1X Lite along with a new blade core and resin. As for the 1X Lite, guess I've been lucky since the durability for me has been great and is currently my favorite stick. As for the current 1S, I didn't think it great puck feel, probably because of the addition of the renew core in the blade. Will I get a new 2N Pro to try it out? Not sure at this time. Might be more interested in giving the new JetSpeed a go.
  17. If you're just looking for a coated runner then LS5 is an option as well.
  18. The only issue with MyBauer is the turnaround time.
  19. North America launch dates. Europe has different release dates.
  20. Skates launch on July 13th. Stick launches on July 27th. Could be!
  21. Toe, but now that I have a few skates on them I hav adjusted and don't notice it anymore. I'm still favoring the 35/65 off the Pro Skate Balance machine over the quad.
  22. Still trying to dial in starting points. Inexperienced or fairly new skaters might be better off starting out on a longer single radius for the stability factor. Unless someone has been skating for some time and or playing at a high level going straight to a Quad might not be wise. But do you start with a combo or go straight to a triple with those players? I recently profiled a couple of sets of steel using the Quad 1 template. Coming from Pro Skate Balance's 35/65 I felt that the Quad 1 had more blade and noticed it when making sharp turns. After an adjustment period of a couple of skates I've come to like the Quad 1. However, my runners are 254's so I don't think I could go Quad 2 and actually wonder if the Quad 0.5 might be the sweet spot for me. I haven't come across the 0.5 template so far so I'm staying with the 1 for now.
  23. Interesting idea. Conceptually I would think that Bauer and CCM envisioned that the customer has their feet scanned and quickly gets the best retail option available recommended. Full disclosure, I have done the Bauer process a number of times and it normally suggests a Supreme 7EE. Based on what my bigger foot measures on the Brannock, I would say that the 7EE is an appropriate starting point. I only did the CCM scan once, so I would have to do it a number of times to see whether or not the results remain the same or change. Like the Bauer scanner I thought the scan was accurate on picking the correct line.
  24. Anyone else get scanned and wind up with similar results? I was scanned today and it recommended Tacks in an 8EE for me. I'm currently skating in 6EE Supremes. They didn't have any EE's to try on but I could fit into the 6D except for it being too narrow for my foot. Curious as to whether really wide feet will throw off the actual length on the scan?
  25. Pretty sure he is talking about after having them baked at the LHS and getting them home. Only thing I can think of is whether or not during the initial bake they overtightened the laces beyond the 75% tight that is recommended causing more overwrap.
